Re: [LegacyUG] Children out of order
Hello Ron, Yes. You were right. Sorry about this. I figured out that the child had two sets of parents. A set of Ghost parents I guess it is called. I had done a copy of one GEDCOM file to another GEDCOM file. I disconnected the extra set. All is well now. I am in the process of merging the extra people in my file. All seems to be fine now. Thank you for everyone's help, Debbie Freeman Ron Ferguson wrote: Debbie, That can, and should, happen when you have at least one of the parents having had a child with another person, if you click on that child then it will show the true parents and their kids will be at the top of the list. If that is not the situation you may have a ghost marriage to which the child is attached, so you need to check for this (ViewMarriage List). Otherwise, try FileFile MaintenanceCheck Repair. I then tried to sort the order of children. It does not work. Only the child I looked at comes on the child list. I then close Legacy, and reopen Legacy which seems to solve the problem? Re: [LegacyUG] Hand Held Devices for Legacy
Hi, From what little I could see the only problem with the Families App is that it does not seem to have a source screen shoot available. How does someone who uses the app check to see what sources are already in the app's family file if they are at a archives or library? Curious, Debbie Freeman hwedhlor wrote: Hi John, Several years ago my mobile device of choice was a Sony Clie on which I ran GedStar Pro, by GHCS Software, and I liked it GedStar Pro much. When the Clie was discontinued I changed over to an iPhone and iPad, and asked Doug Gordon, the author of GedStar Pro, if he had any intention of porting the program over to the Apple iOS devices. Doug replied that he would have to invest in some expensive Mac equipment to do so, and that he was intending to retire after 40+ years writing software (this was in 2008), so I went looking for alternative software. I settled on Families, by Telgen Software, and was fortunate to be involved in some testing of that software both pre-release and subsequent to its introduction. I have been very happy with Families, and with Telgen's responsiveness to input from their user base. I highly recommend Families, which syncs with Legacy and not only displays your data and photos, but will allow input via your mobile device if you choose to do that, after which the new data can be synced back to Legacy. That capability can be very handy if you find yourself in the field without your laptop. Understand however that Families is not Legacy, and does not provide the entire range of features that Legacy provides, which is not surprising considering that Families is designed to run on a much lest robust platform than is Legacy Family Tree. Re: [LegacyUG] Mushed Pedigree Chart - Preview
Hi Tim, OK. This is weird. I choose reset first, it then went to 5 generations and 5 generation per page in portrait. That works. Problem gone. I then tried Landscape too that works. I did notice that the generations button seem a little stuck. Then after reset it did not seem to be stuck. My problem is solved. When I choose 6 generation and all generations the problem came back. I then reset 5 generations and 5 generation and it is fixed again. Hope this helps the programmer's. [LegacyUG] Mushed Pedigree Chart - Preview
Hello List, Does anyone else have this problem? When I preview the Ancestry Chart before I print it the charts look mushed. It overlaps basically and looks difficult to read. Re: [LegacyUG] Mushed Pedigree Chart - Preview
Hi Sherry, Sorry about the mix up. I did mean the Pedigree Chart. It has been fine until this latest update. I will wait for the fix to come hopefully soon. Thanks Debbie Freeman Sherry/Support wrote: The Ancestor chart or Pedigree chart? Your subject line says Pedigree chart but the body of the email says Ancestor chart. They're two different charts. The Ancestor chart looks fine for me. Try resetting the report options by clicking on the Reset button in the lower right corner of the main report window. The programmers are aware that the Pedigree chart needs some rework and that's definitely on their list of things to take care of. I don't know when it will be reworked. Re: [LegacyUG] Seminars?
Hello Bill, If I remember right if you have bought the Legacy program on CD you might also have the basic learning tutorial as well. There are also Legacy CD's that teach you how to use Legacy. They are very helpful. Check out the website for more detailed information. And there could be a Legacy User Group near you. I would contact your local genealogical society's, genealogical libraries near you and ask if they could help you locate one. Re: [LegacyUG] Introduction and a Picture/Source Question
Hello, Artifacts template is your choice under Legacy. It must be following Elizabeth Shown Mills in her Evidence Explained (EE - 2007 version, page 150-151 example 3.37) and probably many other use it for photos. Re: [LegacyUG] Introduction and a Picture/Source Question
Hello Bain Family, I would say the photo is a source. I plan on this approach. I have not looked yet to see if Legacy has a Artifacts template. I plan on adding the source, in the source detail notes I can add details, places, who, etc. Good Luck. Debbie Freeman Bain Family wrote How do I attach a source to a picture? Re: [LegacyUG] Pop up boxes squished
Hello Support, I have encountered squished boxes as well. It seems to be boxes that have more text though. I have a new monitor (Dell 17 in) and a new computer Windows 7 64 bit computer. All updates installed. By resizing the window it has been cleared up. Hope this helps. Sorry I do not have a screen shot. I do not have this problem in any other program.
