Ian,

Those only connected by links to the data file.  I think you may be
looking at the size of the data folder.  If you have a lot of back ups
in it the folder could easily get to that size. the data file is the one
with (name).fdb.  For instance, my own data folder  has 16 days of back
up files and is 16.5 gb.  but my data file (name).fdb is only 516.740 kb.

Re: [LegacyUG] Survey - Syncing

2020-03-12 Thread Jerry Kime

Margaret,

On the second computer, copy the .fdb  into the data folder (it will
overwrite the old one) and copy any updated media folders to the second
computer also, and you in business and up to date on that computer.
This also works in reverse ie:  updating computer 1 from cpmputer 2.  I
will say that for this to work smoothly your paths to the files ( where
the Legacy folders are located)  should be the same on both computers.
If they are not, You will have to fiddle with the locations in the
options  6.2  and possibly 6.1.

It's strange that we all seem to have different methods to get around

this very irritating  problem.  The only way I can resize Legacy

windows is to drag the pointer/arrow and release the mouse button

quickly (before the window gets there).  If I hold the mouse button

down until Legacy's window catches up it will revert to the original

position.  However, dragging the mouse pointer to the new position

and releasing the button prematurely works every time.

I suspect that the good results some have had doing it in small

increments is due to them unintentionally releasing the mouse button

sooner.

After following this thread, I think your problem stems from the Windows
update you installed.  A lot of users are reporting problems with the
April  update to windows 10 to version 1803. Especially affected are
Toshiba and machines using Avast and AVG antivirus.  I have two
machines,  one is just fine and then there is my Toshiba Laptop - - lots

Re: [LegacyUG] a Warning, and another problem with the FAG

2017-10-12 Thread Jerry Kime
In Legacy 8 I was adding the number to source detail, and in Version 9 I
still do this as well as the spot for the number on the individual's
page.  Since this mistake usually happens when I and working with a
particular family group, I simply check the rest of the family members
that do not have the number on their page, but have a source cited. and
I find it with just a couple of checks It is always my error of
copying the wrong number - by not clearing the clip board before
entering a new number, hence the duplicate number.   It is an annoyance
but no big deal.

On 10/11/2017 9:15 PM, Ian Macaulay wrote:

search Find a Grave using the ID(s) listed below for who it should be

    Find A Grave ID = 77730037

And it wipes out both the good and the bad numbers.,  Now while the
good is easy to recover because  they capture it and report ,   the
bad is lost.  So in effect Legacy programmers have programed a
scenario that looses a clients data.

Same issue – if I have the parents’ names already in place and I right
