Re: [LegacyUG] Using Dropbox with Legacy8
I have used dropbox for several years as my main storage location for Legacy files. This way I can access the files from my tablet, laptop or desktop and always have the latest and greatest. [LegacyUG] Henry numbering in reports

Re: [LegacyUG] Showing relationships under family tab
Open your family file and bring up the person you want (i.e., yourself). Click on "tools" (top line on menu bar). Come down to "Set Relationships" and click. You can also change the starting person here if you forgot.. Then check whichever default relationship you want, ande whether you want to use the word Grand or Great. Put in the number of paths you want (2 for second cousins, etc) then click on "Set Relationships" on the bottom. That's it! Easy and it can be changed whenever you want to trace a different line. -- Myrna J --- On Wed, 8/1/12, Charani wrote: From: Charani Subject: [LegacyUG] Showing relationships under family tab To: LegacyUserGroup@LegacyUsers.com Date: Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 12:51 PM Whilst watching Thomas MacEntee's webinar on cloud storage, I noticed Geoff Rasmussen had relationships under individuals in his database eg: 2nd cousin once removed under the wife and husband of 2nd cousin once removed. RE: [LegacyUG] 1940 Census status - slightly off-topic
Since all my ancestors are from the deep south I decided to help solve the problems of names not being indexed as yet on the 1940 census. I volunteer with the LDS (no, not a member) to index. Yesterday I indexed a military base in Delaware for the census then did several other indexing projects. After you learn how to do it you can tell them what states you want to index and when they are uploaded they will let you know and you can start indexing your states. Also, when you sign up to index they will "usually" give you access to the NFS. Try it, it is a lot of fun. The sooner we all join and get it done the sooner we can get back to searching for our families. -- Myrna J --- On Tue, 4/3/12, Michele Lewis wrote: From: Michele Lewis Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] 1940 Census status - slightly off-topic To: LegacyUserGroup@LegacyUsers.com Date: Tuesday, April 3, 2012, 6:41 AM I already said I was kidding. [LegacyUG] merging from Ancestry (2011)
After looking through all the archives for anything about merging files I am still confused. Here is my problem: I uploaded a file to Ancestry several years ago from Legacy. When I would update Ancestry I would also update Legacy. Somewhere along the way I forgot what I was doing (old age, ya no???) and forgot to update Legacy. Now, after not working on genealogy for over a year, I am trying to catch up. I downloaded the Ancestry file to a gedcom, deleted the Ancestry tree, imported the gedcom to a NEW Legacy file. I want to merge these two files with all the additions done to the Ancestry file. Sooo, does the info in the thread done for this subject ([LegacyUG] Exchange with Ancestry.com Round 2, by Robert Mann, started in Jan. 2010)still apply? Yes, I have already made copies of each file and am ready to follow instructions. TIA for the help, Myrna Jorgensen researching: Roberts, Gamble, Ponder, Brown, Weems, Nichols, Crandall. While trying to download the latest update I get a menu for a password that was sent in an e-mail. I must really be loosing my short term memory because I can't find an e-mail and don't even remember receiving one. I have the 7.5.0.40 Deluxe.
