[LegacyUG] A minimized window cannot be maximized

2010-01-31 Thread phusband3
Alt Tab resolves the problem. Auto Hide checked or unchecked didn't help, the
Alt Tab works. Thanks Mike

If that doesn't work - try using the Alt-Tab key to cycle through the
windows of what you have running. I've found that a minimised Source
Clipboard is restored.

How have you set up the Windows 7 Taskbar? Have you set the Auto-hide
attribute off? If so, the minimised window is hiding underneath the
permanently displayed Taskbar.

2010-01-30 Thread Lionel Carter
In Vista - so presumably Win 7 if you use Ctrl/Alt/Del you have the
option of starting the Task Manager.
If you open the Task Manager you should see Legacy listed, either as
'running' or 'not responding'. In either event you can 'End task' and
Legacy should close and you are returned to Windows without shutting down.
This would be a small step forward to keeping control of the pc and
saves you a bit of time from powering up again.

[LegacyUG] A minimized window cannot be maximized

2010-01-30 Thread phusband3
Thanks to all of you who responded to my problem. I'm familiar with the
minimized button in the lower left corner, at least the one that I used to get
as I used Legacy in XP Pro. Using other products in Win 7, I can minimize and
maximize at will with no problem. When minimizing the clipboard or anything
else that that gives me the opportunity to minimize a window in Legacy, it's
completely lost. It's not in the lower left corner, it doesn't go to the
taskbar and hide in the Legacy Logo. At this point I cannot type anything, I
cannot reverse the process, I cannot close Legacy. I can do nothing else but
shut down my pc, using either the start button or using Ctr./Alt/Del. Then
after booting up, I re-open Legacy and try to remember not to minimize. I have
deleted Legacy and reinstalled with the same response. E-mailing to legacy
support Ron suggested that I delete a User file 2 and thought that might be the
problem. I did that to no avail. I'm not sure if it's a problem with W-7 or
with Legacy but with W-7 using other software, I'm able to minimize and
maximize without a problem. I think I mentioned that I'm using Legacy 7,
latest build.

I joined the LUG three times following the instructions but I never receive any
mail. I decided to look at the archives and noted that my query is posted with
all of your suggestions. So to those of you that responded, I thank you.

Note: Before anyone suggests that I have to have my E-mail in the subscription
window, I've done that each time. I un-checked the first two boxes and tried
to join. No response. I then clicked all three again, still no letters from
LUG. I also fired up my XP 'puter and tried signing in to LUG from it but no
response. That really isn't a problem at this point.

To avoid irritating others you may respond off list to phusba...@verizon.net

Incidentally, I love Legacy and wouldn't change to another program for any
reason. At least not at this point.

Thanks again,

RE: [LegacyUG] A minimized window cannot be maximized

2010-01-26 Thread Brian L. Lightfoot
I'm not so sure that this was exactly what the OP was talking about. Maybe he
really could not minimize the Legacy application or perhaps he mistook the
thumbnail preview for a lack of total minimizing. Or maybe he was talking about
windows opened from within the Legacy program. I'm not sure by his description.
Otherwise most Legacy users tend to have several windows/programs open at the
same time, notepad, picture viewer, Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer, etc.
so getting use to the new thumbnails in Win7 may take some time.

If you want to stay "old fashioned", try this: How to Enable or Disable Taskbar
Thumbnails Preview in Windows 7
http://www.blogsdna.com/2056/how-to-enable-or-disable-taskbar-thumbnails-preview-in-windows-7.htm

In fact, if you'd like to really go back in time and still use Window 7, try
this: How to Enable or Disable Quick Launch in Windows 7

Re: [LegacyUG] A minimized window cannot be maximized

2010-01-26 Thread Ron Ferguson
Rich,

It has always been the case, at least since XP, that when minimising a
'sub-screen' the screen goes to a lttle square with a cross on, in the
bottom left of the screen and the program effectively locks until that
screen is restored and delt with. I have not been able to minimise more than
one, but then I haven't really tried.

I am new to Windows 7 myself, and have noticed that when I minimize a screen; a
miniature of it hovers on the bottom left of the 'main' screen. Clicking that
brings it back. I have had as many as 4 'minis' hovering at the same time. I

When I minimize a window in Legacy 7 latest build, I cannot maximize the
same window.  My only option is to restart Windows.  For example, if I
navigate to a certain person in my file, then open the individual
information screen and finally open the clipboard.  So far so good.
However, if for some reason I want to minimize the clipboard or any other
window that can be minimized I cannot reopen or maximize the window.
Clicking on any window gives me the signal that I can't go on unless I
maximize the already minimized window.  Neither can I enter any information
or move to another individual.  My only option is to Ctrl-Alt-Del or to go
to start and shutdown or restart.  Then reopen windows.  I'm using Legacy 7
build 109 on a Dell desktop using Windows 7 Pro.  Any suggestions?

When a window gets off the screen so you can't see it, strange things
happen. I just had such a problem recently. I wonder if that is your
problem.
