One came to the colonies in the mid-1600s from France; the second came to New England in the late 1700s from France and the third comes from eastern Europe in the 1900s. I can find no link between the first and second groups here in the colonies/U.S. On the other hand, a member of the first and second groups lived in the same building in 1900 in Portland ME; what did they say to each other? Re: [LegacyUG] Find A Grave Link
The FAG search function leaves much to be desired. It needs an alternative index of surnames in which a search for a last name variant links to the same person. Who ever contributes the memorial can choose only one name variant - with or without the "de", "van", "von", etc., to say nothing of the many different ways a name was spelled over time and even in the same document! The problem is with FAG, not Legacy.
