Re: [LegacyUG] Place of Death
Using the actual place of death is correct, ie., city in which the nursing home is located. Attach pdf documentation when possible. This is the one area that family members want to challenge because they forgot that grand paw died in the hospital in the neighboring city. The ancestor's residence has already been documented by a census or city directory. In the event of the absence of permanent residence documentation, simply create an event titled residence which will allow you to attach documentation such as pics of the house. Re: [LegacyUG] Place of Death
As I see it the purpose of the actual place of death is to know where their legal death records can be found. The place they actually lived or reasons for dying there can be in notes or other places Carl On 12/14/2020 5:50 PM, Roberta Schwalm wrote: In the burial information, I enter the place where the person actually lived if that is where he or she is buried. -- LegacyUserGroup mailing list LegacyUserGroup@legacyusers.com To manage your subscription and unsubscribe http://legacyusers.com/mailman/listinfo/legacyusergroup_legacyusers.com Archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/
Re: [LegacyUG] Place of Death
My $0.02… Usually for a lot of death certificates you will find actual death place, and if not the person’s usual residence it will state that in the same field. Certainly seen that a lot for Canada and Scotland. If the residence info is available, I always use an event = Residence, with “at time of death” in the event description, then the date and usual residence place. I use a variation of this when a witness to a death usually has a residence noted also. Hope this helps. In the burial information, I enter the place where the person actually lived if that is where he or she is buried. On Mon, Dec 14, 2020 at 6:49 PM Roberta Schwalm wrote: > I do the same. I do the same. Enter place of death (name of facility, name of city or town) and enter an explanation in Events. [LegacyUG] Place of Death
Place of death: I have some relatives whose residences at death were in a suburb of a larger city. In the last few days of life they were moved to a hospital or hospice across the city line into the larger city. For example. a 95 year old uncle of mine lived in Mableton, GA, a suburb of Atlanta.
