Re: [LegacyUG] Place of Death

2020-12-16 Thread M Sonnier via LegacyUserGroup
Using the actual place of death is correct, ie., city in which the nursing home
is located.  Attach pdf documentation when possible.  This is the one area that
family members want to challenge because they forgot that grand paw died in the
hospital in the neighboring city. The ancestor's residence has already been
documented by a census or city directory.  In the event of the absence of
permanent residence documentation, simply create an event titled residence
which will allow you to attach documentation such as pics of the house.

Where I know it, I always use the full address in the Location field of
an Event. In the case of someone dying somewhere other than their usual
residence I enter the death address in the Death Place field and add a
Residence event which reads "On , at the time of his/her death,
his her/address was ..."

As I see it the purpose of the actual place of death is to know where
their legal death records can be found. The place they actually lived or
reasons for dying there can be in notes or other places

Re: [LegacyUG] Place of Death

2020-12-14 Thread Andrew Robbie
My $0.02…

Usually for a lot of death certificates you will find actual death place, and
if not the person’s usual residence it will state that in the same field.
Certainly seen that a lot for Canada and Scotland.

If the residence info is available, I always use an event = Residence, with “at
time of death” in the event description, then the date and usual residence
place. I use a variation of this when a witness to a death usually has a
residence noted also.

Hope this helps.

location where he died. I I Have the name of the facility that he died in I
enter that in the death address.  As always make notes of explanation when and
