It was introduced in v5. You can find out about it in the Help file for Events - when you're in the Event window, click on the Help button. Thanks Jan. You instructions were very clear and I found the 2 icons quickly. Doing this your way is 2-3 clicks faster than using REPEAT. Plus I was missing REPEAT and clicking on CLEAR. ;=( I will try it. Use the Copy and Paste buttons on the Event screen. They're under the Help button on the right. You don't have to put your cursor anywhere. Enter the information for one person as you want it. Then click the Copy button. Go to the each of the other people one at a time, open to that same window and click the Paste button. --- JL Beeken JLog - simple computer technology for genealogists http://www.jgen.ws/jlog/ On 9/16/2012 12:23 PM, Karen and Jim wrote: Hi Listers, Using ver 5 Deluxe. Re: [LegacyUG] Same event for many people - SOLVED
Using a help file requires using some logical thinking. The OP was questioning how to use the same event for multiple people. When searching the help file, you need to ask yourself what are you trying to accomplish - in this case, the OP wanted to enter the same event information for multiple people. You would first search for the main topic EVENT. Once you find the section for event, you then need to read through the various sub topics until you locate the information you are seeking. In this case you would read about copying and pasting events by using the event clipboard. As I previously stated it is virtually impossible for anyone to write a help file based on how people think, because everybody thinks differently. If people would take some time and carefully search the help file, you can usually locate what you are looking for. Unfortunately, too often people don't want to take the time and effort required to carefully search the help file. Only problem with using the repeat button (which I had noticed but never used before, so I have learnt something) is that it doesn't copy the source. By using the copy icon (two paper pages) and then the paste icon (clipboard with paper on it) on the new person's event screen you can repeat the whole lot with ONE click, source, notes and all.
