Re: [LegacyUG] UNSUBSCRIBE | Re:

2022-07-19 Thread Randall Dodds
I have tried to unsubscribe also, but nothing works at all this is why I wish
someone from Legacy would step in and try to assist those that have issues like
both of us. Instead, we get boilerplate responses from I guess other users not
connected to Legacy. You can’t get reset for passwords as the message never
comes to your end box after asking the system to do so etc. Legacy has created
a mess when they step away from their list serve.

Erik, do you go into the Legacy Users Group via Facebook? If so, as
someone mentioned, you should click the Unsubscribe button and, when
prompted, enter your user name and password, then click Submit.

Re: [LegacyUG] Unsubscribe, please!!

2017-09-12 Thread carogene
If I might add to this thread, and I mean this kindly, we have discovered
locally that some people are unaware that they need to scroll down to see
what is at the bottom of the page that appears on their screen.

By scroll I mean using the wheel in the middle of the mouse, or on a tablet
or phone, by using your finger.
I know this sounds like too much information for some of you, but I am part
of a team that helps seniors with tech gadgets, and we didn't realise that
newbies have never been shown or told how to do this.(Not every one has a
grandchild handy!)

For some it is a small screen, and they have been missing a lot of
interesting information as a result.
Hope this helps some one out there.

Re: [LegacyUG] Unsubscribe, please!!

2017-09-10 Thread Wendy Howard
If you don't know how to set a filter in Gmail to do this, or in any
other email program/service you're using, there will be instructions in
the Help files for that program/service to show you how. Microsoft call
them rules, instead of filters, but they're the same thing -
instructions on what to do with your incoming mail.

I also wrote some instructions for another mailing list and put them on
my web site years ago. You can adapt it to any mailing list.
http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wendyh65/How-to.htm#RuleFilter

Using a filter this way takes the mailing list mail out of your Inbox,
so it's not mixed up with your personal mail, and keeps it out of the
way until you are ready to read it.

Hope this helps.  :-)

Digests are a nuisance. People respond to a message and don't dont
trim post. Therefore, the entire digest gets sent to the entire list.
After several replies you've got multiple copies of the digest getting
sent every time and one hot mess. And even if someone does properly
trim, it breaks the message threading for everyone.

I noticed you have a Gmail accountl. The easiest solution is to create
a filter that puts all the list's messages under the same label
(folder). You can tell it to bypass the inbox so it keeps the inbox
uncluttered.

No, there isn't.

There really aren't that many messages to the LUG like there used to

but kept the LUG list going since so many people don't use Facebook.

Re: [LegacyUG] Unsubscribe

Dale,

The unsubscribe process works as I tried it out very recently because of
 someone else complaining.

You have to use the exact same email address with which you are
subscribed.
You may have to check your spam/junk folder for the confirmation
message.

your username part is dcmc1945

Note Legacy is Family Search certified and has been for a long time.
It's very quick to make changes when FS change things their end - which
they do constantly.

[LegacyUG] unsubscribe

2016-06-22 Thread Tina Telesca via LegacyUserGroup
The original message to the list is in the attachment.

This action is required because of the DMARC Reject/Quarantine Policy
imposed by some email providers. Users who want to send messages
without conversion to attachments should use a different email address
for their subscription.

Known providers for free email accounts whose emails do not require
this conversion include gmail.com and hotmail.com. Many other email
providers will also work but you will have to give them a try.--- Begin Message ---

No need to block Legacy, block the reply-to address.

2016-02-23 Thread Linda Hodges
In my re enter post I inadvertently had my email in the link...replace it
with your email...or send an email to the REQUEST EMAIL LISTED BELOW..

My apologies for not reading the link I copied and pasted..

If you ever want to unsubscribe or change your options (eg, switch to
or from digest mode, change your password, etc.), visit your
subscription page at:

  http://legacyusers.com/mailman/options/legacyusergroup_legacyusers.com

You can also make such adjustments via email by sending a message to:

  legacyusergroup-requ...@legacyusers.com

with the word `help' in the subject or body (don't include the
quotes), and you will get back a message with instructions.

You must know your password to change your options (including changing
the password, itself) or to unsubscribe without confirmation.

Re: [LegacyUG] Unsubscribe but see archives

2011-10-22 Thread Ward Walker
In case there is still some confusion:
(1) If your ISP does not support web-based access to your e-mail or you
choose not to use it, and thus all your incoming messages come to your PC,
then you can set up a filter on your PC's e-mail client. This filter would,
for example, automatically move all new [LegacyUG] e-mails to a folder named
something like 'Inbox for Legacy'. Furthermore, if you want to peruse that
folder only after quite a few messages have accumulated, you should be able
to tell your e-mail client to display messages in a threaded view. (In
Windows Mail, it is called 'group messages by conversation'.) That makes it
easier to find or ignore topics (if people follow the guidelines).
(2) If you do sometimes or always access your e-mail on the web server,
using your web browser, then you can choose to set up a similar filter
there, saving the LegacyUG e-mails in a folder on the server. Then if you do
download messages to your PC' e-mail client, only those still in your Inbox
on the server will be downloaded, not those that are in other folders on the
server. If you access your mail from an iPhone, or similar device, then you
are interacting with your mail account on a web server. Filtering mail lists
off to folders is especially handy when traveling away from home without
your PC. You can quickly check for 'important' e-mails in your Inbox, for
example from your iPhone or from the hotel's computer. When you have time
and/or free wi-fi, browse the messages in your mail list folder(s).

As an aside, I think that a busy mail list would be slightly less
overwhelming if we resisted the temptation to fire off short conversational
messages that just say 'thank you', or 'I agree', or 'I don't know the
answer', etc.

Most likely your email software can automatically move email into a folder
you create based on the FROM field. That way you don't have to unsubscribe
and you list email is separated from your other email.
