Re: [LegacyUG] 32 versus 64 bit

2012-04-14 Thread Robert57P_gmail
MANY 32 bit programs can run fine under 64 bit windows, but not all.
Utility programs are potential problem programs (drive scan type of
programs), and some programs that really max out your system resources
might be potential problem ones.

So, while you do need to be careful with what you install, most
day-to-day normal programs are USUALLY ok. But it doesn't hurt to
check with the program vendor before you install. So don't feel like it
was a dumb question - better safe than sorry!

(I am also running Win7 - 64 bit and legacy runs fine)

Hi, This is probably a dumb question however I just need assurance. I have
gotten a new tower with Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.. The people I bought
it from said that I need to be careful about putting any 32 bit programs on
my computer. Since I have Legacy Deluxe 7 with all of the upgrades I am OK.
Is that correct??? Thank you, Lyn

Re: [LegacyUG] 32 versus 64 bit

2012-04-13 Thread Sherry/Support
Lyn,

Legacy is a 32-bit program and runs perfectly on 64-bit WIndows Vista
or Windows 7. I have a *lot* of 32-bit programs on both of those
versions of Windows and have absolutely no problems. with the
programs.

64-bit Windows will run 32-bit programs just fine. I don't know what
those people were talking about.

You can't run 64-bit programs on a 32-bit computer, but you can run
32-bit programs on a 64-bit computer.

Just make sure you install Legacy as per the instructions at
www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/helpWindows7andVista.asp.

Sincerely,
Sherry
