I don't think this is specific to Legacy 8 as I am getting exactly the same in Legacy 7.5 DeLuxe in the Namelist and the Events window. However, in the main edit screens for notes or events the formatting shows as it should. On 04/01/2014 08:04, Diane Sye wrote: I wonder if this occurs in other places too. Re: [LegacyUG] Embedded codes displayed
It seems that the embedded codes only occur natively and hidden in Notes fields, which are Rich Text Format. The codes are visible when they are shown in lists where all fields are shown in a plain text format So a decision was made to show the markup when showing a rich text field within a text field, a possible alternative would have been to suppress the codes but then it would be impossible to detect which text is bold, italic etc. Despite the negative effect on appearance I think this is the right decision since it makes direct editing of an RTF field possible while displayed in a plain text field. For example in the Name list it is possible to directly edit notes fields and although there is no collection of formatting buttons you can apply formatting using keyboard shortcuts which then put visible formatting codes in as text markup. RE: [LegacyUG] Embedded codes displayed
OK. I see it there, too. I had not had a case where a bolded part of an Event Note showed in the Desc/Place/Notes field on the Individual Information screen. Description and Place usually take up all the space and very little, if any, of the Notes ever show up there. I think there are also places where the info is displayed in just plain text – not formatted and no formatting codes. That would also be a bug. I’ve seen it before on the Notes tab of the Name List, but had not noticed on the Events Tab of the Name List until just now. Is that where you are seeing it? Or are you finding it someplace else?
