Hi Cheryl,

Use the Options from the menu bar. Select Customize then use the "Other"
tab. Down in the lower left, select 'Geo Location Database'. I do
believe that will send you on your way if you follow the instructions
on the screen.

Re: [LegacyUG] Geo Location Database

2010-09-23 Thread Cheryl Rothwell
Very good. I found them. I downloaded them all and attempted to install
several. It would install one, say US, and tell me the others were missing.
I installed the next one, say Europe, and it told me all the others
including US were missing. Space is not an issue. Can I install several or
am I limited to one at a time?

Would I better off deleting this install and installing from the CD?

Cheryl,

You can install as many as you wish. Myself, I only have U.S. and the
Europe. I have no reason to install others.

If you downloaded them, use them.

Tim,
Several weeks ago I talked to you on the phone about why my Legacy program
says various people are related to me sometimes one way and sometimes
another. I sent my CD to you (of my entire database) but you never acknowledge
it or inquired about it or sent me any information. What's up? Just happened
to see your name on this message to someone else and thought I would see
if you have ever tested my database out.
Please respond and don't leave me in the dark any longer. Thank you.

Hello Michele

Thank you for helping.

I downloaded the Geo Database and it appeared to install ok but nothing is
happening
when I click to search.
When I first installed it I got a message from Vista to say it may have a
compatibility
issue and to install using windows compatibility fixes, so I did that - but
program
not work.
I then reinstalled it without the compatibility fixes but still - no work.

The geo database is working in legacy 7.5 on the same computer.

Any further suggestions?

The first thing is to make sure it actually installed. It installs into a
hidden folder so you have to have hidden folders and files turned on in Windows
to see it.

It is in C:\Program Data\Legacy Family Tree\GeoDB (Program DATA not Files.

Charles Brasell

Charles,
That message means that the Geo Location Database did not download completely.
I will
send you a special link you can use via a private message. You should be able
to
download it fine from there.

Charles,
A couple of simple things to do to make sure that Legacy can "see" the Geo
Location Database. Close Legacy, reboot your computer, then start Legacy back
up. If that doesn't work reinstall the current update from here.
