Helle,  Thank you for your kind offer.  I don't think I have any Danish
ancestors, but how interesting that the man you wrote about was born in Detroit
- so was I!  "small world" ;)

Hi Paula.

Yes “Sv.” Stands for ”svar” which in Danish is the word for reply. (Or rather
an answer to a question).
Wish there was an easier way for sorting – though sometimes I get surprised
with WHAT Outlook is sorting correctly in spite of differences in language and
subjects. J

I am so happy I know so much English/American as I do – it makes communication
across the World so much easier.

We know an elderly gentleman – he was born in Detroit in 1934 and taken to
Denmark for a brief visit - by his Danish father (his American mother died
during delivery of him) in 1939 to see his aging grandmother.
Then came the war (WWII) and they were not able to return to the US and now he
has found his one sister after total silence since just after the war… BUT he
cannot communicate with her– not directly anyway – but hurray for Google
translate and friends who DO know more English than he does by now.

If I may be of help finding places to look for sources – or even shortcuts let
me know. J

Wow, Helle, when I sort my LUG email folder by "Subject" to get all posts on a
particular topic together, yours show up all at the bottom because of the "SV:"
-- I assume that is Danish (?) for "Re:" ?  I need to look for a better way to
follow a thread, to keep up with you & other international colleagues.  Wonder
if AT&T/Yahoo can handle that? haha  Every day is a new adventure.

You need to make the distinction between sorting and threading.

Sorting just takes Subjects and orders them alphabetically.

Threading requires each reply to contain a reference to the message being
replied to. Then, a thread can be built in which each message is related to
others by these references.

Most web-based email products do not have the capability of threading.
