Expected result: Only column A should be visible, everything else should be empty cells. Result: Column A is visible, but also some reminents of deleted columns, check attached picture. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54933] EDITING Report builder: mouse-move control: gap between mouse position
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54933 --- Comment #23 from Steven M Campbell bugzi...@scampbell.net --- Here's a good way to recreate the issue and a workaround. The issue occurs when sections of the report have a minimum height. Create a report with a few groups with group headings then, in design mode, use the 'Shrink' control to make the group headings and sections as small as possible then attempt to move an object on the screen, the mouse pointer will be significantly offset from the object as you move it and it will jump from section to section due to the misalignment. This should recreate the issue easily. A temporary workaround for folks encountering this issue is to just open the report sections up some and shrink them when you're done. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80682 --- Comment #2 from MRPI matthias.rum...@dignum.de --- Hi, thank you for answering. Well, the problem exists within many versions from 2.X to current. Lately, I have tried 4.2.5.0 and 4.2.5.2 (one on Intel, the other on AMD). Compared with 3.X the 4.2 is about 50% slower. And the problem seems to occur even earlier / more frequent: Inserting / modifying up to ten charts in Version 3 before it crashed, now (version 4) it seems it crashes already at about six charts. Thanks - set as Needinfo until we get the file. Sophie I am using LibreOffice 4.2.5.2 (latest version) with Ubuntu 14.04. I put an example of a corrupted .odp file at this URL http://www.phy.duke.edu/~hsg/bad-impress-file.odp look at slides 15 and 16. You can compare this with a PDF export of the .odp file that I made http://www.phy.duke.edu/~hsg/bad-impress-file.pdf before the file became corrupted. Most of the images that disappear are in .png format, e.g., I used the Ubuntu screen capture utility Screenshot to grab part of some image on the screen (typically from some web page), then copy and paste the image directly into LibreOffice Impress without saving it into a file. I believe there have been some cases though where the missing image came from importing the image from an external file, rather than copying and pasting. But most of the problems seem to be with images that were pasted directly into Impress. As others have pointed out, this bug is extremely alarming and frustrating since it means that I can't tell in advance whether one of of my presentation files will display correctly, and it can take a lot of time to recover the images and repair the problem. The bug is also happening frequently, just about every Impress (.odp) file I have created during the last few weeks has lost some images upon opening a saved .odp file. LibreOffice should make this a very high priority to fix since Impress is currently too unreliable to use, and this means that my Linux based computers are not usable for preparing talks until this is fixed. I can't reproduce the problem with pdf export, all the images contained in the odp are well exported to pdf. Left as unconfirmed as I can't reproduce even with my own file - Sophie Sophie, What you are asking for seems impossible to satisfy: I don't know if the bug has occurred until I open up a saved .odp file and find the images missing. At that point, there is no original file to give you, the file has been irreversibly damaged. Somehow saving the .odp file is what is causing the corruption since the file is ok while I am actively using Impress. So how am I supposed to give you an original file and its corrupted version since I can't save the file without corrupting it? Can you try creating a .odp Impress file, pasting in an image created with Screenshot (or someother screen capture utility), saving the file, and then seeing if the saved file is corrupted (image not accessible)? Since this bug happens frequently for me and for others, it needs to be addressed by LibreOffice, it is a very serious bug. If you can't reproduce the bug, then, based on my own experience in writing a lot of code, someone will need to rewrite the part of the Impress code that handles inserting images until the code is more clear and more concise. At some point, the bug will be accidently eliminated (by writing better and different code) or because it the code is so clear that it becomes obvious why there is a bug. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81026 --- Comment #6 from Henry h...@phy.duke.edu --- One other thought: I have thought of saving some of the .odp files in .pptx format as a backup but found this was not practical because the conversion of .odp to .pptx also has some significant bugs in which certain images (e.g., created by the TexMaths equation program) and certain text (display of bullets) are not exported correctly to the .pptx file. See slide 10 of these two files: http://www.phy.duke.edu/~hsg/good-file.odp http://www.phy.duke.edu/~hsg/good-file.pptx as an example where the conversion from .odp to .pptx is not done correctly. Many bugs have more critical importance, like crash case without any workarounds. Please define Critical Importance! I don't check every single bug or fix appearing on the dev ML, but for some reason this caught my attention. I recently submitted a quotation for a sizable project, based on calculations made in a complex Calc 4.2.5.2 spreadsheet and the client happily accepted. While reading this bug report I recalled having made a couple similar deletions in my spreadsheet. Having applied your workaround kluge to my spreadsheet, I discover that my quotation was 1,000 Euros (around US$ 1,350) below the nearest competitor's offer. Since you do not consider this bug to be of what you dismissively describe as NOT Critically Important, then please contact me by PM and we can arrange for you to transfer this (non-critical) loss from your bank account to mine. Your measure of Critical Importance being like crash case without any workarounds is only half correct. Ask yourself why we care if LO crashes or not and you will probably answer something to effect that Users will lose confidence in the software and stop using it. Likewise, if users cannot trust LO to perform as we say it will, they will lose confidence in the software and stop using it, which means that we have all been wasting our time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77681] EDITING: Sorting: header-identifiying heuristic misbehaves if not all header cells are filled out
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77681 Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Hardware|Other |All OS|Mac OS X (All) |All Status|NEEDINFO|NEW Severity|normal |enhancement Priority|medium |low CC||jmadero@gmail.com --- Comment #3 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com --- So a bit of my input here. What is happening is that if a value is empty then it treats it like the check mark in Range Contains Column Headers as non existent and thus there are no headers. If you put in TITLE2 in B1 (currently you have this as empty) then select TITLE to delta2 and do the sort, it works as expected. So here is the proposed solution: We just trust the user to select what they want, and if Range Contains Column Headers is selected, even if all headers are blank, we treat these like headers and they are not sorted with the sort. So I am marking this as: New Enhancement Request - works as expected but for functionality purposes this seems like a good idea Low - relatively straight forward work around, don't select the headers and uncheck the Range Contains Headers button. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81123] StrPtr - unsupported function (BASIC Runtime Error '35')
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81123 --- Comment #1 from Anton Kochkov anton.koch...@gmail.com --- See short note about StrPtr: StrPtr is used primarily to make efficient UNICODE API calls. In VB4, API calls to a UNICODE function were made with the help of byte arrays: Declare Sub MyUnicodeCall Lib MyUnicodeDll.Dll _ (pStr As Byte) Sub MakeCall(MyStr As String) Dim bTmp() As Byte bTmp = MyStr vbNullChar MyUnicodeCall bTmp(0) MyStr = bTmp MyStr = Left$(MyStr, Len(MyStr - 1)) End Sub Clearly, the amount of work to simply pass a NULL terminated UNICODE string and return its value into the original string is totally unacceptable. By the time correct handling of the terminating NULL character is included, No less than 4 copies of the string are required. With StrPtr, this code reduces to: Declare Sub MyUnicodeCall Lib MyUnicodeDll.Dll _ (ByVal pStr As Long) Sub MakeCall(MyStr As String) MyUnicodeCall StrPtr(MyStr) End Sub VarPtr/StrPtr/ObjPtr are all very, very fast, so the overhead to call a UNICODE function is now actually lower than calling the corresponding ANSI function because no conversion is required. StrPtr can also be used to optimize ANSI declare calls. Instead of passing the same string variable multiple times to a declare function and incurring the conversion overhead for each call, use the StrConv function once and StrPtr in each call: Declare Sub MyAnsiCall Lib MyAnsiDll.Dll _ (ByVal pStr As String) MyAnsiCall MyStr becomes: Declare Sub MyAnsiCall Lib MyAnsiDll.Dll _ (ByVal pStr As Long) MyStr = StrConv(MyStr, vbFromUnicode) MyAnsiCall StrPtr(MyStr) MyStr = StrConv(MyStr, vbUnicode) ' Not always required StrPtr is also the only way to tell the different between an empty string () and a null string (vbNullString). StrPtr(vbNullString) returns 0, while StrPtr() is non-zero.
