No problem in 3.4.3 and 3.4.4 and a masterbuild for 3.5

This is still definitely a problem for me on Ubuntu 11.10 i686 with the latest
official libreoffice binaries. Steps to reproduce:

1. Purge ubuntu libreoffice packages with dpkg --purge --force-all
libreoffice*
2. Install 3.5.0beta0 binaries from libreoffice.org.
3. rm -Rf ~/.libreoffice
4. Open /opt/libreoffice3.5/program/soffice
5. Open File-Wizards-Address Data Sources...
6. There are four sources presented (Mozilla/Netscape, Thunderbird, LDAP and
Other external data source)
7. Select any of these. A dialogue appears saying The connection to the
external data source could not be established. No SBDC driver was found for the
given URL
8. Click on More in this box. The error shown is SQL Status: HY000. The
connection to the external data source could not be established. No SDBC driver
was found for the given URL.
9. Click on Information. The description is A connection for the following
URL was requested sdbc:address:evolution:local.

From the comments above it looks as though I'm going to have to use OpenOffice
to use my evolution address book to print out year's Christmas card labels...

Little bit of history behind my bug report:
Few of my fellows have recently moved from Windows to Linux Mint(11.04). All of
them say that LibreOffice Writer is a decent editor and they didn't have
trouble adapting to it, but they are complaining about ONE SINGLE ANNOYANCE
which is described in this bug report. They have hundreds of footnotes in their
scientific papers and to change font style after every footnote seems insane.

I have already installed MS Word via Wine for one of them. The issue is
serious, it is pushing users away from your otherwise good product. Please, fix
it ASAP.

Thank you for your help, Roman.

-- Lowering importance a bit from 'blocker' to 'critical': 3.4.4 is already
released, therefore is no release this bug could block ;-)

Sorry for nagging you, but I think the severity part of the importance is
about how this bug influences the user. And anyone who sees this bug is
definitely blocked from working with this document, so I'm reverting your
change.

I think the correct way to block a release (which of course I did not want to
do) is to define a blocks relation to the corresponding release tracking bug
(as it was e.g. done in bug 34404).

But maybe the developers officially misuse the severity blocker for
blocking releases? :)

Hi,

AFAIK this behaviour is due to an old OOo bug in the underlying SQL parser code
which I am unable to fix, it is not directly related to the connector as such.

If you try the same thing with an ODBC, you should notice the same error. I
don't know whether the JDBC connector does the same thing (from my
recollection, it does, but I'm not 100% certain about that).

So, not a bug in the connector, I think. You might want to open a bug report in
general about not being able to set TINYINT UNSIGNED when using any mysql
connection instead.

In order for the bug report to be made generally, you would need to test with
other connection types : JDBC, ODBC.

If I get the time, I'll try and find the original OpenOffice.org bug that was
referenced.

Closing. A separate report should be opened against the LO database component
without reference to the connector, as this is only the vehicle by which the

See also, however, an underlying bug in the mysql engine code :

I have no idea whether this actually got fixed or not, so it may well be

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43763] EDITING: Text remains small if typed after footnote if text file was created in MS Word

2011-12-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43763

--- Comment #5 from Ivan Kharlamov the.paper@gmail.com 2011-12-14
04:36:00 PST ---
Christopher, thanks for the info about workaround.

However, the bug is all platform and is not architecture dependent. As I have
written, the bug exists in Ubuntu 10.10 (x86_64) (default packages), Ubuntu
11.04 (x86_64) (default packages), Ubuntu 11.04 (x86_64) (packages from
LibreOffice stable PPA). Just now I have tested the bug in LibreOffice 3.4.4 in
virtualised Windows XP i386, and (unsurprisingly) the bug exists here too. So I
am changing it back to all architectures and all platforms.

Best regards,
Ivan

These are used when building the connector, so it appears to be an upstream

Just for the record: this problem is not visible on MacOS; I have not seen it
with any of the last Master builds nor with 3.5.0 beta 0 or 1.

MinGW only?! Should we change the 'Platform' picker?

Works fine with OOo 1.1.4 (!)

I was able to create an .sxw with OOo 1.1.4 and convert that one to a .odt
using 3.3.3 (what does not crash with that document, but with original .doc).
The document seems to contain lots of lots of MATHTYPE 5 formulas, and my vague
suspect is that they cause the problem, add that to Summary for now.

That new document might ease to find out what causes the crash.

Although it's annoying: 1 particular document in the world crashing all LibO
and OOo versions of the last 4 years is not a blocker ;-)

OOo Heritage, so I modify Version.

The MacOS X log file generated for this crash looks very similar to the one
generated for Bug 43464 -- “FILEOPEN, FORMATTING LibreOffice crashs in
libswlx.so on opening file”: maybe the bugs are related or the same?

There is also much similarity with the log file created for Bug 43665 -- “CRASH
when FILEOPEN particular Word document (with MATHTYPE formulas(?))”. This bug
is quite different (opening a specific Word document), but again the log files
are very similar.

(But I can’t tell for sure, therefore I don’t mark this bug report as a
duplicate for now ...)

--- Nino, thanks a lot for the fix. It looks great. I have committed it to
 the git repository.

Thanks for your kind words :-)

We need to find someone who has rights to update the server now :-)

Hopefully there is somebody. Can I do something to make it happen soon? Maybe
send a mail to the Website list? What do you think?

Regards,
Nino

After checking my comments with previous issues, could you please be so kind to

to reproduce ?
(try to look at the # of unconfirmed etc. issues - you really help the QY
people by making descriptions as clear and simple as possible :-) )

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43822] New: Ctrl-W does not close document when the focus is in the Navigator

2011-12-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43822

 Bug #: 43822
Summary: Ctrl-W does not close document when the focus is in
the Navigator
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: c...@nouenoff.nl

Since some time the Navigator works as a list, i.e: when I type 'a', it tries
to go to an entry in the list starting with an 'a'. Which is great.

Nasty side effect: with the focus in the Navigator, Ctrl-W does not close the
document any more...

Possibly ans easy hack too?

2011-12-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Hi Cor,

you are right. If the Navigator is undocked, the List Box On/Off. button
works fine.

The problem is, that the List Box On/Off button is not greyed like other
buttons in the Navigator, if they don't work. So I expected a reaction when I
clicked it and nothing happens. Perhaps the button should be greyed, if the
Navigator is docked.

Regards
Harald

11-Dec-2011 06:51 :

First a test with 3.4.4
0. open attached sample1.ods with 3.4.4
1. Check 'Data - Filter - Remove Filter': should be greyed
   out
2. on sheet ProjStat: Menu 'Data - Filter -
   Acvanced Filter - select r'
Filter shows only rows with R in column Zuständ
3. Close document without changing

10. open sample1.ods with 3.5.0 Beta1
11. Check 'Data - Filter - Remove Filter': should be greyed
   out
12. on sheet ProjStat: Menu 'Data - Filter -
Acvanced Filter - select r'
Expected: as in 2. many rows shown
Actual: no row with contents shown

Using Auto Filter to open the standard filter shows a quite normal filter, but
further examination shows that there is a leading space before the date number.
So Standard filter only will work deleting leading blank in filter criteria.

I hoped that I would be able to fix the problem deleting the blanks in the
filter criteria in sheet Filter, but that does not work, Filter will not
work. I will have to delete and to type the date representing manually before I
get the Standard Filter working

Title bar from document that gets artefact in bottom-right corner on PDF export

I put together a document using both Write and Draw with vector section
separators (see attached file). When the file is exported as PDF from Write or
Draw, a blue 45-45-90 triangle (irrespective of the slope angle of the title
bar) appears at the bottom left of the bar as if the shape extended to the
corner.

The vector was created in Draw as a polygon. I have also modified the nodes on
a a square shape to create the same shape, but it suffers from the same
problem.

I can't tell if this is the same bug as #37830.

Nope, just tried 3.5 beta 1 and the behaviour is exactly the same.

effect of the fix.

Hi Cor,

try this:

1. Undock the Navigator.
2. Hide the list by clicking the List Box On/Off button.
3. Dock the Navigator again.

In my system the list of categories is not displayed. The area where it should
be is grey and it is not possible to display the list by clicking the List Box
On/Off button. I think this behavior is not intended.

Libreoffice doesn't read ppt and pptx files correctly and shows text outside of
the slides.

It also has problems saving files to view on Microsoft office.
Most times Microsoft office can't read text from libreoffice on ppt and pptx
files.

Example: www.rent-a-printer.no/sitefiles/24/dokumenter/INVESTERINGISKRIVERE.ppt

LibreOffice 3.4.4
OOO340m1 (Build:402)

Formatting of objects, masters, layouts fonts are unpredictable, but almost
always incorrect.

Masters are almost always corrupted. Masters are unable to be deleted (in case
of multiple masters). Guide text (the text that shows examples of text
characteristics, placement) is not overwritten from masters.

Slide layout for title:dual box renders asynchronous text sizes, does not
render identical text characteristics equally between L R boxes.

Embedding (copy  paste/paste special) of Libre Calc selection causes 100% CPU;
hang in application; crash.

Drawing objects from original Microsoft PPT rendered incorrectly, or not at
all, seemingly at random.

 No crash!

Thanks for your response. Using LinuxMint 12 desktop version Mate on an iMac
8.1
I opened LibreOffice, 'english txt' and clicked on the square (right top of
screen, 2nd symbol from right) and thereby reduced the size of the window. Did
the same with 'dutch txt'. I then had the englsih and the dutch txt next to
each other and could read the dutch txt and compare that with the english one.
I scrolled down one the txts and everything went and the desktop was visible.
Relaunching LibreOffice gave me the recovery screen, I clicked on recovery (or
start, I can't remember the exact wording) and went through the same procedure
of opening the files, reducing in size, doing something to the txt, and voila,
everything went and on opening LibreOffice the recovery window appeared.

If I do the same in OpenOffice this problem doesn't come up.

Otherwise LibreOffice is fine; what I do find annoying is that after clicking
on 'open' and you get a window with a list of files, 'right' clicking on a
file doesn't let you either delete that file or rename it as you can in
OpenOffice.

Hope this helps discover why the open windows leave the screen.

 @dieder...@gmail.com:
For a detailed analysis we would need much more precise information. If you
still see the problem for 3.4 and want to reopen this bug (for a fix in
 3.4.5),
 please read hints on http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport
 carefully!

 Then :
 - Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
 - Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
 - Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem (and if possible how to created a
   sample document from the scratch)
 - add information
-- concerning your PC (video card, ...)
-- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
-- concerning your LibO version and localization (UI language)
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
 (video hardware acceleration ...)
-- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document
–- If you can contribute an OOo Issue that might be useful
-- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts
May be you can test https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/ for submitting

however, on libre office the scroll jumps too quickly and is not smooth in the

1) When one text document is open clicking the New document icon doesn't work.
Nor does it work to click the arrow and select Text Document. Short cut CTRL+N
works however.

Fails only if current document has been saved. If its a new unsaved document
there is no problem opening a new document.

2) Also if the saved document is opened in one window it isn't possible to open
another saved file (neither from the open file dialog or by clicking on an
odt-file.

3) If one unchanged and unsaved document is opened and you then opens another
text document then the second document will use the first document window. I'm
not sure if this is a problem as it only works this way if the first document
is empty and unchanged.

To reproduce:
Create a new text document
write td + f3
Save the document (Any name,odt)
Click the New Document icon
- Nothing happens

Click the Open icon
Select an existing ODT-file
Open
The Open dialog closes
- Nothing happens

This was the biggest patch in this area (popup menu of spelling mistakes), at
the same time:

It seems, this is a duplicate of Bug 43422. Many thanks for the reports. It
seems, the problem is more general, maybe related to a recent patch of the
spell checking popup menu:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=68f1b7dac7e77f68050f73c8692b8180f6e7cc65,
unfortunately, I cannot check it without the Windows build.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42782] EasyHack: remove a dog !

The dog is displayed on the said Picture tabpage if you have a linked graphic
image and the file linked to is gone.

Besides that I wouldn't argue with religious context, just that in different
cultures the same animal may mean different things. It might also be something
to eat ;-)

Using animals (or humans ...) as icons is a no-go in i18n context.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42704] : Writer crashes when opening doc-file created with Polaris Office on a Samsung Galaxy S2.

2011-12-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42704

--- Comment #1 from deltabl...@hotmail.com 2011-12-14 15:21:35 PST ---
I can confirm this behaviour.

I am using a samsung galaxy S2 and recently updated to 2.3.5

I do not recall having a problem opening polaris office documents prior to the
update (on Android 2.3.3) But neither can I confirm that this is a causal
factor, because at that time I was also using openoffice to open the files and
not libreoffice.

So to confirm, I am using a recently installed version of libreoffice and
cannot open documents created using polaris office on a samsung galaxy S2 - the
writer program displays the splash graphic while attempting to open the
document, and then vanishes (silently crashes).

If writer is opened and then the file is opened from the file menu, the program
vanishes/silently crashes in the same way.

documents created with other common word processors are fine.

Google docs can open the polaris office documents fine, So i do not believe the
document files themselves are corrupted (at least not fatally).

@Rainer Bielefeld, Thanks for the comment.

I have uploaded a video to youtube that details how I created the spreadsheet:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMtoKd5zJEc

There's nothing special in how the spreadsheet was created. However, the
LibreOffice 3.4.3 was using the main.xcd that I have attached. I am not sure of
exactly how the main.xcd was borked.
