(In reply to comment #2)
 That's probably a duplicate of bug 40482.

 @Vincas:
Please compare your problem with 'Bug 40482 - CONFIGURATION:
Formatting aids - displayed nonprinting characters become unchecked during
 printing and PDF export'.

 Try the workaround
 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40482#c20 .

 Try LibO 3.4.5 release.

Hi manj k,

That really works. Thank you for your help. I hope this bug will be fixed in
the next writer version.

This is a test case for the bug.

Open the file. Check the object position and size. Top left is at x=8cm,
y=1.6cm, on grid.

Select object, copy (ctrl+c) and paste (ctrl+v).

Check the copied object position and size. Top left is at x=7.95, y=1.55, off
grid.

Note: seems to only happen with lines with special terminations and when such
terminations have specific sizes.

I don't reproduce this bug neither on 3.5 branch nor on master (both updated
 today)

This bug is about a crash in 3.4.x, not in 3.5 or 3.6.

although I got several lines like this one :

 warn:legacy.osl:2550:1:/home/julien/compile-libreoffice/libo/dbaccess/source/core/api/RowSetBase.cxx:1131:
Old position is not equal to new postion
 warn:legacy.osl:2550:1:/home/julien/compile-libreoffice/libo/svtools/source/brwbox/brwbox2.cxx:955:
 BrowseBox::ImplPaintData: SeekRow gescheitert

These messages show a real problem and have to go away.

I fixed at least one occurrence in master just now:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=520b8118f4a2d54e4849929d94091f29a6434346

If you still get them on master after this commit, or at all with
libreoffice-3-5, please file a separate bug and assign it to me.

This bug always occur with 3.5b3

I've discover that the problem seems to be a lock of the file itself (xxx.ods).
(The .~lock.xxx.ods# file seems to make his job)
For example, deleting the .~lock.xxx.ods# file doesn't make the file openable.

I've also discover that the sharing mode work perfectly.
Many users can open the same file at time. (and edit it)

(In reply to comment #1)
 hi thepanz,

Sorry, but I cannot understand or reproduce your report.

In LibreOffice (OpenOffice.org) mail merge is done with a datasource.
   (File New Database etcetc Register(!)
or Tools OPtions LIbO Base Add )
A data-file (csv, xs, ods, txt) or database is not associated with a document.
It only is associated with fields, that might be placed in a odt.

When starting ToolsMail merge, in step 3 there is the option to select an
address list. That shows a list of the defined datasources.
 And also the button Add.
 I can select a csv-file via that.

Can you maybe be more specific where your bug is?
 thanks - Cor

sorry for my delay.
I'm reproducing the this issue with:
LibreOffice 3.5.0rc1
Build ID: b6c8ba5-8c0b455-0b5e650-d7f0dd3-b100c87
(installed modules: Writer, Calc)

* How to reproduce I

1. create a new OpenOffice writer document
2. Tools-Options.. - LibreOffice Base - Databases - New
3. Select a .csv file (eg: test1.csv)
4. close the options dialog
5. Insert-Fields-Others.. - Database, expand test1 (cursor hangs)

* How to reproduce II

1. create a new OpenOffice writer document
2. Insert-Fields-Others.. - Database - Browse.. and add a .csv file (eg:
test1.csv)
3. the database test1 appears as a new database, but with any table in it:
can't add any field in the current document

Regards

You could open the file, but not working, if you click on table, run query,
open form, run report, the new version warning shows.
The warning messeage was introduced into OOo 3.3 when the cws development
started.
See attached screenshot taken in LibO 3.4.5.
I opened odb file opened in cws version and transformed to new database engine,
in LibO and clicked to the Tables pane.

This is more GUI-related than database stuff, so I'll say not my area -
resetting assignee to default.

I confirm that this seems fixed in 3.5.

Personally, I don't see this as a very annoying bug, because the actions
leading to triggering the bug are not ones the user would naturally do; they
are a bit contrived. it is like in writer I open the search/replace dialog,
then close the document, the search/replace dialog does not work anymore. It
is a bug, it is embarassing in that it shows bad code/design/... quality, but
not high severity overall.

For all I'm concerned, we can close this as fixed in 3.5; if somebody wants
to hunt down what fixed it in 3.5 and backport to 3.4, that's nice. I'll even
review the patch if it is sent it to me.

Hi all,

I seem to recall that at the time the cws was started, it was agreed that the
code would provide an automatic update/migration mechanism (transparent for the
user from what I gathered) for ODB files using the 1.8 engine, and that at the
same time a message would be provided to the user informing him/her that the
new format would be incompatible with previous versions of OOo.

Using LibO 3.5.0 Beta3, German Version.
Want to save document in docx format. A window pops up and asks me if I want to
save as docx or odf. Obviously the control boxes here change size due to the
length of the text, while the inputwindow does not. So the rightmost control
box doesn't have any margin to the right.

I create a mailmerge document in writer, entering fields from a table or query

document is saved, but when the file is reopened and F4 is pressed to show the
database tables, I have to select the query or table from the tree. Documents
saved with earlier versions (eg from 2009) ask for password and then show the
correct query of table when F4 is pressed.

I am using mysql database with the native mysql connector.

When changing alignment of !everything! to center only the upper part splits
up.

First it would be great if short sentences like those would not split up in
block alignment.
Second, why do they react differently to the same command?

ODT File attached.

Hi:

Happy new year!

I've installed the LO 3.4.5. I've removed and reinstalled LO, and the
problem persist.

I have MS Office 2003, but it wan't a trouble before it begins failing.

By the moment I've been opening through File -- Open options on Writer's
menu.

I've been thinking about registries. I'll this: remove LO suite, erease
all registries related to LO and then reinstall it (I prefer intall LO 3.5!)

Thanks for your attention.

@Ramon: do you encounter this problem with current release (3.4.5) ?
If it is the case, I suggest you to repair your installation of LO.
Did you install another office suite which may have preempted opening odt
 files
 ?

As you certainly know, you can assign odt files to LibreOffice Writer from
 Explorer.

 Best regards. JBF

--- Comment #2 from soym...@web.de 2012-01-23 05:12:19 PST ---
The reason for the different behaviors is that on the lower line there is a
enter character after the last letter. On the upper line there is a manual
line break.

So this post changes to:

Setting:

Line with only few words that don't fill the line, ended by manual line break.
(Enter arrow character instead of reversed P character with double backline)
Set from left to block alignment.

Outcome: Words now fill whole line with large spaces between them.

Enhancement proposal: Lines with few words not affected by block alignment.
Like it is already the case if line ended with reversed P character.

TO FIX this problem by hand, do NOT use the asian phonetic guide tool.

Create a table with two rows and format the ruby by hand. Set table to no
border and no padding. Set line spacing for asian text to the bare minimum.

It's an ugly hack and it breaks the idea of using styles and asian phonetic
guide, but as it stands LibreOffice cannot seem to do ruby properly and this is
your only way around it.

God only knows why it displays properly when using a font that does not support
CJK. I have been looking for a week or two now and I just cant find where in
the code to fix this.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 33853] PNG images cannot be loaded from ODF documents

2012-01-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33853

--- Comment #8 from Alex Thurgood alex.thurg...@gmail.com 2012-01-23 07:27:50
PST ---
Not sure whether this adds any useful information, but :

on Mac OSX, LibO 3.5RC1

1) I open a ODT document made with LIbO 3.3.x containing an *inserted* (not
linked) PNG file in it (for example, my signature, which has alpha channel),
the image frame holder displays an error and the PNG file is not shown.

2) If I then save that document in 3.5RC1, and then attempt to open it again in
3.3.4, for example, I get an general IO error message, and the document will
not open. If I retry once more, the document will open, but the image file is
now missing.

3) Once I re-insert the same PNG file via 3.3.4, the same ODT file opens fine
in :

LibO 3.3.4
LibO 3.4.3
LibO 3.4.4

LibO-dev 3.5.0
Build ID: e42dfec-c60ac25-41e7bcd-3b66bd0

LOdev 3.6.0
Build ID: 87ec1f8-b204871-95bcc5e-4c1bcb5

and also LibO 3.5RC1, but the fact remains that the first time such a file is
opened, it can not read the PNG file. Somehow, the reference to the file seems
to get broken, despite it being inserted.

Quite possibly, this is not the same problem as the bug report.

Test showing the bullets and numbering problem

(In reply to comment #7)

Please, if there are no secret information, copy-paste that slide into new
 presentation and attach it here.

No secrets here... The attached presentation is from one of my courses. I left
three slides in place (there were almost a hundred to begin with), and added
some test bullets in the first and the last slide. Testing was done in Arch
Linux with LibreOffice 3.4.5 OOO340m1 (Build:502).

As you should see, the first level bullets are light red, second and greater
level bullets white. That can be changed bullet by bullet in the normal view
(i.e., not even level-by-level but literally bullet-by-bullet).

Now try to change the bullet colours globally from the master slide: View
Master Slide master, then Format Bullets and numbering. Colour seems to be
set to “Automatic” for all levels and the preview pane actually shows *black*
bullets for all levels. Changing the colour to light red for levels 1–10
doesn’t change anything when you OK the dialog box.

Now go back to the dialog and select only level 2 and set the colour to light
red. What happens is that level 1 changes to white while all the other levels
*remain* white!

(This last step might behave differently depending on what you did before. At
least once, for me, the dialog box claimed that all the levels now had light
red bullets, which they actually didn’t, so trying to change them to light red
was of course not going to work anyway.)

One last one: I tried the same at work where I have stable Debian 6.0 and older
OpenOffice. There the bullets *were* light red to begin with so it seems
different versions of OO.o/LO might even show the same file differently.

2012-01-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45130

 Bug #: 45130
Summary: Function names are in English instead of Hungarian
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.0 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: trombip...@gmail.com

Created attachment 56041
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=56041
You can see my problem here.

My libre office version is: LibreOffice 3.4 340m1(Build:402) (On Ubuntu 11.10)
In Calc, all the functions are in English though I do not have the
corresponding option selected and I have all the localisation packages
installed. This bug also affects multiple users I know about.
If this is not a bug, I really want to know a workaround because I do not seem
to find any. And if that is the case, sorry:)

This looks like the ODBC driver has smashed our stack. This may be LO's fault
if LO passed it a pointer to a too small memory area. Investigating.

No, it would not. The only purpose for this I can imagine is to help people
with sight disorder and then the setting should be system-wide anyway.

Does this still fail for you on latest stable ?

I basic hello world version here locally works without error with 3.3.4 and
master (3.6 series) under Linux.

Ideally you could provide a standalone demo to be sure.

Thanks for attachment!
As I see, Impress allow set list options for each paragraph. Therefore I can
set different options for each item in list. And if I want change all list, I
must select all it previously.
I do not know if it is bug or feature. Resembles that feature.
And when attempt to save to ppt or pptx, formatting is lost.

I agree that it is useful. In Impress text is only inside of text frames. And
images are separate objects. We can not insert image into text frame, it always
remains standalone.
It is especially important when using formulas as pictures inside of text. Each
change of font (usually different comps has slightly different fonts) renders
to corrupted slide.
Only one workaround I know: create content in Writer and insert it into Impress
as OLE object.

I got a document that can't be opened by MS WORD VIEWER (damaged document), and
LibO / OOo only show first page, TOC and lots of empty pages.

That's not a useful sampled document. What we need is an intact document and a
step by step instruction how to get the damages (missing contents).

Fortunately I was able to create a test kit from an own document.

My steps to reproduce with LibreOffice 3.5.0 RC1 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
b6c8ba5-8c0b455-0b5e650-d7f0dd3-b100c87] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit):

0. Download / Unzip attached test kit
1. Open mysample1.odt from LibO Start Center File menu
2. LibO dialog Menu 'File - Save as - document type Word 2007 /2010 XML -
   mysample1.docx'
3. Close document
4. reopen document
   Expected: Same contents as mysample1.odt
Actual: most contents behind table of contents missing, TOC looks readonly

MS WORD Viewer will not be able to open the document.

@Cédric:
Please excuse me for the voluminous sample document. Please feel free to
reassign (or reset Assignee to default) if it’s not your area or if provided
information is not sufficient. Please set Status to ASSIGNED if you accept this

In http://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Spreadsheet_Functions#GETPIVOTDATA I read
this:

A function name can be added in the form Field[Item;Function], which will cause
the constraint to match only subtotal values which use that function. The
possible function names are Sum, Count, Average, Max, Min, Product, Count
(Numbers only), StDev (Sample), StDevP (Population), Var (Sample), and VarP
(Population), case-insensitive.

So maybe it is not necessary to add a note, but translators should be warned
that they should not translate function names in this sentence.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45133] New: EDITING: Entering value Jan 2012 into cell produces 40909 instead of typed in text

2012-01-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45133

 Bug #: 45133
Summary: EDITING: Entering value Jan 2012 into cell produces
40909 instead of typed in text
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.5 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: grof...@hotmail.com

Problem description:
In any cell type in Jan 2012 (without double quotes) and press Enter. In
LibreOffice v3.4.5 the number 40909 is displayed instead of text. Similar Feb
2012 and after pressing Enter 40940 is displayed. It looks like my text was
transformed into some number value. Maybe some date that is internally mapped
with integer value.

I have tested the same string in LibreOffice v3.5 RC1 and instead of number
date is displayed for Jan 2011: 01.01.2012
and 01.02.2012 for Feb 2012. Date is probably in my local date format
DD.MM..

In both cases I don't want to have a date, I just want to have a month data in
each column. The work-around is to add single quote = ' character at the
beginning of the cell text.

Don't know why this text is being changed to date in v3.5 or number in v3.4,
but I see no reason to have this transformation at all. I think Calc in this
case should not do any transformation and so leaving the field just like it is,
text based string.

Steps to reproduce:
1. In any cell type in Jan 2012 (without double quote).
2. Press Enter
3. Text get changed to number 40909.

Current behavior:
40909 is displayed

Expected behavior:
Jan 2012

(In reply to comment #106)
 another regression since 3.3.4 version:
Bug 40539 - Writer FILESAVE: Text direction in table is not saved into DOC
 format

Added to the list 40539. The document is still readable but it looks much
worse. The other text direction is pretty useful feature when you do more
complex tables.

@Mayooresan
That sounds as if WIN LibO is more or less unusable for Tamil texts?

(In reply to comment #0)

If INDIRECT is replaced by its result (here FRANCE)
 =IF(ISNUMBER($A17);VLOOKUP($A17;France;B$15;FALSE());)
 the formula computes properly.

When i hit Ctrl+F3, i saw the name France.
In K17 you write FRANCE.

If i change FRANCE for France in K17 (same case as defined name) it works.

I wonder if the pictures are in a special format. Objects added via the
Drawings toolbar are saved correctly. So, the missing objects must be
something special.

I add some experts on drawings export into CC.
