 Bug #: 48582
Summary: Numbering of headings not reliable
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 Release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal

Document Template

When using a template to create a new document, and then activate numbered
headings, the first heading isn't numbered. Also, when changing the paragraph
style of a table heading from a (numbered) heading to a non-numbered heading,
the numbering on the screen disappears, but when exporting to PDF, the heading
structure is still there.

Attachments: template being used, sample document, sample PDF export

Reproduced with attachment and with own formulas on 3.3.4 and 3.5.2 on Fedora
64 bit. Used Data-Multiple operations for additional experiments.
Calc allows using result of one Multiple operation in another Multiple
operation.
But not allows that formulas use the same cells.

Workaround: copy-paste contents of cells, used in formula in another place.
Than create formula for them. Then use Data-Multiple operations, selecting
results of previous Multiple operation, but new formula.

Changing version to 3.3.4 as most early reproducible

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48593] New: FORMATTING: Change of Identation in Text Documents is Possible in Open-read-only Mode

2012-04-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48593

 Bug #: 48593
Summary: FORMATTING: Change of Identation in Text Documents is
Possible in Open-read-only Mode
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: harald-koes...@htp-tel.de

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
First create a text document, which is opened read-only. If you have got one
you can start with step (6).
(1) Start LibreOffice and open a new text document.
(2) Insert some words.
(3) Save document.
(4) Check Menu: File Properties... Security Open file read-only, then
OK.
(5) Save and close document.
(6) Open read-only document.
(7) Display toolbar Formatting (Menu: View Toolbars Formatting). The bar
is displayed and all icons of this bar are greyed except Increase Indent and
Decrease Indent.
(8) Click these buttons. Indenting orders are performed.

Expected behaviour here: Icons Increase Indent and Decrease Indent greyed
and no indenting possible in open-read-only documents.

(9) Close document and open it again. Performed indenting orders have not been
saved. A compensation for wrong behaviour?

Hint: Step (3) is necessary, hence otherwise the open-read-only mode is not
saved in step (5). But this is another problem.

Bug also observed in ver. 3.4.6.

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.2.28)

Fedora 64 bit.
IMHO attachment contains forms with options something like Allow editing in
read only documents.
Changing version to 3.3.4 as most early reproducible

In OpenOffice Writer, these don't work correctly. If you click on the
 innermost
arrow at each end, it is as if you clicked in the scrollbar area.

Incidentally - Dave, can you check if Firefox handles this correctly?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48597] New: Calc cell content starting with Thai character is right-aligned by default

2012-04-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48597

 Bug #: 48597
Summary: Calc cell content starting with Thai character is
right-aligned by default
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: panyaz...@gmail.com

Thai character strings or mixed Thai-English strings starting with Thai
character are displayed in Calc cell as right-aligned by default. Thai text in
the cell should be left-aligned by default like English or other Western
language.

To work around this bug, one need to format all the cells as left-aligned to
display the content as it should be, which is quite a burden. This problem does
not exist in OpenOffie 3.3.

To investigate this bug, copy and paste either of the following two character
strings, paste into a cell, hit Enter key, and see the alignment of the cell
content.

สวัสดี

ก English texts starting with a single Thai character.

I did few more changes:

* replaced impress.svg with oasis-presentation.svg because there was
missing
the green line in the chart
* fixed draw.svg and *drawing*.svg; there was a box around the circle
* added an invisible box around all icons to get the printable area
256x256 square instead of the rectangle (like we have for png icons)

This is a dupe, and should therefore be fixed in 3.5.2.

3.4.4 is broken, and can't retroactively be fixed. I don't know how relevant
this is in practice, potentially one could add a hidden config item export
broken svg, or tie it to ODF1.0/1.1 export (though I'd hate that - it is
indeed written wrongly).

2. Tools - Relationships does work, but only for deleting a link. Creation of

As for sizes, I would prefer to think in pixels (as in 1920x1080), rather than
centimeters, my screen sizes run from 8 feet wide to 60 feet. As long as I can
do that I don't mind what size you choose, what matters to me is the aspect
ratio.

The released (tagged) builds include beta/release candidate number in the main
version, e.g. 3.5.3.1 for 3.5.3-rc1 build.

The daily builds include the last version and the + sign, e.g. 3.5.3.1+ for
daily builds that include additional fixes from the 3.5.3.1 release.

I hope that it is human readable and we could close this bug now :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48611] New: : The nice KDE integration like in SUSE is missing, just only the ugly Gnome interface is available

Problem description:
It is not possible to fully integrate the LibreOffice in the KDE environment.
After the installation the only interface available is the Gnome one which is
quite ugly. Many customers believe some thing is wrong with the product when
they open the LibreOffice with this Gnome interface for first time.

It is very strange why the nice KDE integration available by SUSE is not
installed authomatically if the LibreOffice is installed in KDE environment.
Also many people are very disappointed by the feel an look of Gnome 3 so they
ask to change this interface and komplayn because can not do it.

SUSE is a major contributor to LibreOffice so why LibreOffice did not use this
nice looking KDE integration together with the Gnome one and let users be happy
to choose. Who likes the new Gnome feel and look, let have it , but others let
have KDE interface.

Steps to reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Created attachment 59867

Problem detail with sample character strings and screenshots

Some Thai and mixed Thai-English character strings are rendered incorrectly in
display area other than within the cell, such as the Cell Input Line, the Input
Line of

Rename Sheet pop-up window, tab name, data selection area for Data Filter
Tool, and Data Selection Area for Data Pivot Tool. There are two types of
problems.

1. Some Thai character strings like those in cells A2 and A3, including longer
strings starting with these strings such as those in B2 and B3, are displayed

correctly** within the cell, but they are displayed with strange characters in
display areas elsewhere.

2. Some Thai character strings like those in cells T1 – T4 are displayed
correctly** within the cell, but they appear with backward tabbing in display
areas elsewhere.

** In fact, display within the cell is not fully correct, since it is not
left-aligned by default as reported in Bug 48597. This bug and Bug 48597 are
reported

separately since the problems occur in different areas, i.e., Bug 48597 occurs
within cell area, and this bug in areas other than cell area.

I have confirmed that this bug appears when the latest LibreOffice is installed
on Ubuntu(latest) or Apple (Lion). Having done that I installed the Euclid
font, as suggested, on Apple and this changed nothing.

For those replicating the bug, the summation sign appears for 'sum{}' but a
question mark appears, as in the bug description, if the summation has a range,
using 'from{}'.

Is there a way of making certain whether it is a font bug? Is there a log file
that reports when font substitution fails?

[Reproducible] with LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45f] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit).
documents look more or less equal in all OOo / LibO Versions I tested starting
with OOo 1.1.4

Steps how to reproduce:
1. open attached sample document
2. Search for String Ещё пример задания
Under heading you find a text area with grey background
 Below some 2 columns listing
   Expected: looks like in WORD
Actual: WORD shows quite a normal Table, LibO a completely different
looking listing without cell borders and contents totally mangled

This document shows several (may be related) different table problems, some of
the tables look very strange, with ghost tables spitted away, ... . We will
limit this bug to the problem shown in the first table

@Sergey
Is information available how this document has been created 8with what
software)?
Can you please submit additional bugs for the other problems with link
reference to the sample here for other bugs?

I don't know what you mean by '3.4.4 is broken'?

We are creating and editing documents with OO 3.2.1 and LO 3.4.4 intermixed
without having this problem. Problems start with 3.5.0 and occur also in 3.5.2.

So it is either not fixed in 3.5.2 or has existed from at least from 3.2.1
until 3.4.4.

Considering the amount of documents created in that period of time, I don't
think it is reasonable to say 'it is fixed in 3.5.2'.

Unless you have a workaround to work on 3.5.2 documents with OO 3.2.1 and
LO3.4.4?

Something more elegant then: export it to MS doc.

I just searched the internet how to create 16:9 presentations in Impress. As it
seems there are metric and imperial measures advice in the Internet:

In a book by Jacquline Rahmehipour et al. (page 63) they suggest:
28 x 15.75 cm

In a youtube video gotoguyenterprises suggests:
16 x 9

Since the previous one (the metric one) is more reasonable for printing I think
it is the way to go. Is it?

Sorry for asking: any chance this bug is going to be fixed soon?

As far as I'm concerned: I'm maintaining an Octave (www.octave.org) package
(http://octave.sourceforge.net/io/index.html) that uses (quoted from Comment 7)
the officially documented way to bootstrap LibreOffice by means of the
Bootstrap Java class.

After LO 3.3.1 the behavior of this Bootstrap Java Class got broken (see
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40991); while most of that has
already been fixed, the one remaining issue is the splash screen that still
shows up while AFAIK it shouldn't (and me and my users don't want it).

We can't fix this on our side, it's LO code that changed its behavior relative
to the LO / OOo docs.

Thanks

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48621] New: FILEOPEN: CSV: better handling of broken CSV files with unescaped embedded quote delimiters

2012-04-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 48621
Summary: FILEOPEN: CSV: better handling of broken CSV files

  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: er...@redhat.com

CSV files not strictly following the CSV specification, regarding embedded
quotes inside a quoted field are to be doubled, easily trick the import into
not distributing following content as the generator intended it to be.
Implement some magic to detect and correct at least some of those cases to
prevent data loss.

Related:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=78926
and attachments.

Another test case mentioned there, originally from
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=80385
with attachments:

,abc d ef,
currently results in
'abc d ef'
To not lose data it should result in
'abc d ef'

Doing so would also lead to
,ab, a,
resulting in _one_ field
'ab, a'
and not two, 'ab' and ' a' like it is currently the case. This would then
differ from how Excel treats it, but would be more consistent.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48622] New: Line thickness specification - too many choices, nonintuitive

2012-04-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48622

 Bug #: 48622
Summary: Line thickness specification - too many choices,
nonintuitive
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: msrame...@gmail.com

If a line/frame/cell border thickness is to be specified, a user has too many
options: he/she should directly specify numerical value of the thickness.

From the usability point of view there are several issues:

- It is likely that most users just need only a couple of options (thin,
medium, thick - or eventually 5 levels)
- If several thicknesses are used, one should remember the values
- the value is expressed in the measurement unit, specified in Tools/Options...
If one wants a thin (medium, thick) line, which value is appropriate? 0,5mm?
0.01 inch? I do not know
- if one opens such file in different LO with different unit settings, he/she
gets different numbers
- stepping of the numerical field is not fine enough (1mm steps)
- we have two different widgets for that - one for graphical objects (lines...)
and one for borders of frames and cells. They are not consistent:
*If the same value is specified there, the actual thickness of lines and
frames is different (try a 0.5pt line and cell border in calc - the daily LO3.6
was used)
*Thin line has 0pt, thin border 0.05pt
*Increment in line setting is 1(pt), in borders 0.25

So, a mess. I know about a company, which switched to LO - unintuitive setting
of border thickness in Calc is the most hated feature among many users there.

Perhaps, just simple change in UI of both widgets would improve the situation
significantly.
1. Instead of the numeric field alone, give the user a possibility to choose
from thin, medium, thick line and add a more button, which would open
the numeric field for setting arbitrary dimensions.
2. In Calc, extend the Borders options (which currently offers 3x4
combinations of thin borders) to 5x12 offers of thin, medium, thick, double...
lines with all 12 combinations.

I believe this is not that much work.
Milos

This bug is still present in 3.5.1-1. There appears to be some 90-120 second
print timeout that occurs after Libre is started. If you print during that
period, you print fine. If you don't, then you can hit print as many times as
you want and nothing prints. All other apps - kde, etc.. continue to print
normally. This issues affects both Libre and Apache OpenOffice, so there
appears to be a bug in the common code as it relates to printing.

Steps how to reproduce with LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45f] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

1. Open sourcecreatedwith352.odg from test kit
2. Menu 'File - Export - sourcecreatedwith352exportedfrom352.svg'
3. close document
4. for comparison redo from 1. using LibO 3.4.5, export to
   sourcecreatedwith352exportedfrom345.svg
5. Close
6. Open both svg documents with Seamonkey Browser (or some similar program
   except LibO)
Both documents look similar, blue rectangle on white background
7. close
8. Redo 6. with LibO 3.5.2
Expected: similar view to 6.
Actual: sourcecreatedwith352exportedfrom352.svg shows black background
for
all page size, background visible in all LibO Versions I tested

So it seems here we have a combined problem, LibO 3.5 exports wrongly, but
problem only visible with LibO?

date ranges that illustrate the 'bug'

If you enter any date between 1/Jan/1830-15/Apr/1880 and Libreoffice Calc
enters it as -1d.

i.e. enter any date in the range 1/Jan/1831-15/Apr/1880 and calc will register
the value as -1d from the date entered.
E.g. enter 1/1/1880 press enter and the cell will get the value 31/12/1879

To overcome you need to enter dates as +1d.
If you want to enter 18/1/1880 (d/m/) you should enter 19/1/1880 (d/m/)
As a result it is also ***impossible*** to enter 14/4/1880

See attached for illustration fo the problem.
