Ok, the gist of my remark was that it is usually not the user who objects that
has created problematic spreadsheet (otherwise he wouldn't have done it in the
first place) it is usually received from somewhere and one must work with it.

Be it by design or not, this means that it's an issue that causes
user-unsolvable problems, what might be open to discussion is the severity of
it's effect on users and their work.

Still, I will refrain from touching the pretty buttons in the future.

and that's likely won't be backported to -3-5, sorry: it's too risky. Not a

I have downloaded and installed LibreOffice 3.5.4 RC2 (2012-05-24) on Max OSX
 10.6 Intel Architecture.

The issue with bullet points still exists for both the doc and docx imports of
attachment 60428 [details] and attachment 60429 [details].

I will attach screenshots to show.

@junk_2010:
Thank you very much for testing this issue! So it is confirmed now that this
issue is still a problem on MacOS X. Therefore, I change the Status to NEW.

@Lubos Lunak,
@Caolan McNamara:
It is great that the long-standing about wrong import of bullet lists from
.doc/.docx (bug 34814) is fixed now. Thank you very much! But on MacOS X, there
is still a very similar problem. I have added your address to the CC list
because you have fixed bug 34814. It would be wonderful, if you could also take
a look at the remaining MacOS X issue ... Thank you very much!

@Thorsten Behrens:
I have added your address to the CC list because you are our MacOS X expert,
and this is (after the fix of bug 34814) now a MacOS-only issue. But it is
still important. Thank you for taken a look at it!

I have no instant idea for a fix.

Well, since the commit en passant fixed this crasher (thanks to Caolan for
noting):

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/818761

I wonder which is more valuable: localized shortcuts or a crasher.

IMHO keeping the crasher out, which might cause data-loss, even if it is rare,
should have priority.

Of course, for 3.6 we need a sane fix anyway.

Hi,

As I would like to start hacking in LibreOffice and I need to get familiar with
the code I would like to implement Lanczos Resampling (BMP_SCALE_LANCZOS) in
addition to BMP_SCALE_INTERPOLATE and BMP_SCALE_FAST. Lanczos resampling is
currently the overall best choice for downsampling of images.

I also found out that bad quality resampling is not only limited to PDF export
but also if you put a image in a LibreOffice Draw document and export as a
PNG or JPEG so it also needs to be changed there. Maybe there are other cases
that need to be addressed.

Best regards,
Tomaž

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50449] New: Gestion de la mise en page: numérotation et en-tête / pied de page

2012-05-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50449

 Bug #: 50449
Summary: Gestion de la mise en page: numérotation et en-tête /
pied de page
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.6 release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: jym...@free.fr

LibreOffice 3.4.6
OOO340m1 (Build:602)
Writer

Bonjour,

Description:

Cordialement,
JDF

slightly reproducible in 3.3.4 and 3.5.3 on Fedora 64 bit
ratio in percents indeed changes slightly each time we resize, but may be it is
because of rounding number in percents. Especially seen when we change width to
1% and second time to 100%. But with png the same.
I right understand problem?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50452] New: Changing font color in a text box is unintuitive and difficult.

2012-05-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50452

 Bug #: 50452
Summary: Changing font color in a text box is unintuitive and
difficult.
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: davidyang...@gmail.com

When trying to get white text in a black rectangle, I noticed a distinct lack
of a font color button in the toolbar. After much frustration, I consulted the
manual to find that to change the color of a font, I have to go to Format
Character (?) Font Effects (?!) to change the font color. This is in stark
contrast to changing font color outside of a textbox, which is mostly a
one-button affair on the formatting toolbar.

Solution: Put a font color and font highlighting button next to the font size
field in the Text Object toolbar, as per the font color and font highlighting
buttons in the formatting toolbar.

File that causes the issue

Certain single characters are duplicated when a pdf file is opened in Draw. So
1 becomes 11, 2 becomes 22, ; becomes ;; etc.

I've attached two files to illustrate this. One is the original pdf which
opens fine in Adobe Reader, the other is a drawing file that was created by
opening the pdf in Draw. I've highlighted the duplicated characters.

reproduced in 3.3.4 and 3.5.3 on Fedora 64 bit, but only if part of word is
bold, or after word is punctuation mark.
Steps to reproduce:
0. Start Writer and change language of document to English
1. Enter asdf.
2. Select asdf and make it bold (select without dot at end)
3. right mouse click, select proposed variant
Expected: Word remains bold
Actually: Word becomes non-bold
This happens because Writer determines character attributes by last character
in word. But in this case last character is dot. And it is not bold.

The missleading LibreOffice message can only be avoided by opening Windows
Task Manager with Strg-Alt-Del and killing the Openoffice process there.

OpenOffice QuickStarter should have a visible icon on the system tray.

Anyway, the error message you mentioned was made clearer in LibreOffice 3.6.
Unfortunately LibreOffice 3.5 is in string freeze state, it is not possible to
fix it there, too.

I also think that it is not a bug but a feature. We could make the installer
even more complicated, i.e. ask for the UI language, if there are more to be
installed, but then it would cause problems in multi-user environment under a
multi-language OS.

I'll see what I can do about this bug, but it is not a blocker. One can argue
that it was you, who destroyed Windows XP basic file structure by installing
and using a 3rd party file system manipulating tool. If you wanted to redirect

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User

--- Comment #2 from Jan_J j...@aqua.up.wroc.pl 2012-05-29 06:22:33 PDT ---
Instead of changing the current behaviour of the u+00a0 character, it may be
considearable to use u+2060 + u+0020 (zero-width-word-joiner plus ordinary
space). Unfortunately, the algorithm currently implemented for placing ilne
breaks inside a paragraph, behaves oddly in this situation.

This is probably because the usage of u+2060 character is regarded th the final
stage of the algorithm loop, and does not take into account the possibility of
succeeding space.
See i18npool/source/breakiterator/breakiterator_unicode.cxx file in the source
tree, method BreakIterator_Unicode::getLineBreak(), lines 405--420.

Data bars and color scales need to be integrated into the normal conditional
formatting.

This needs the following steps:

1. Merge colorscale.hxx and conditio.hxx based on the new concepts from
colorscale.hxx.
2. Integrate new layer in the merged file
3. Change return type to new data structure containing not only style names
4. Integrate old conditional formatting in new ODF structure
5. Change UI

Excel 2010 supports AutoMin and AutoMax that work something like:

nMin = std::mindouble(nOldMin, 0);
nMax = std::mindouble(nOldMax, 0);

They are the default for Excel2010 data bars.

Also excel 2010 import needs to be adjusted.

Currently only one ScConditionalFormat is allowed per cell because they are
stored by index in ScPattrArray. We should move to a concept that allows having
multiple conditional formats overlaying so that we no longer remove the old
conditional format if we define a new one on the same area.

This will help extremely to keep the ScRangeList in
ScConditionalFormat/ScColorFormat and the cell storage in sync.

reproduced in 3.3.4 and 3.5.3 on Fedora 64 bit and in 3.5.2 on Windows 7

What is interesting: in column C all calculated. Problem appears in all
remaining columns.
When I delete content of cell in row 24 (name of row Remainder after Option
exercise proceeds), all values in that column becomes calculated. Then I press
Ctrl-Z, and values still calculated. And pressing F9 nothing changes. But
values differs from Excel.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50464] New: EDITING: LibreOffice Calc freezes when copy pasting data in spreadsheet

2012-05-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50464

 Bug #: 50464
Summary: EDITING: LibreOffice Calc freezes when copy pasting
data in spreadsheet
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: keesdej...@gmail.com

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Copy data from a sheet and paste it beneath it.
2. Copy data from a sheet and paste it into Thunderbird 12.0
3. All these bugs seem to pop up randomly, so it might just work for you right
now. But if you would worked on spreadsheets every day then you would notice
the crashes.

Current behavior:
The system freezes, the cursor can be moved but there is no way of entering
into the tty's or do alt+tab. The only way to enter the system again is trough
a SSH connection. Where restarting GDM, Xorg or killing soffice.bin doesn't
change a bit on the freeze. This is the case on 5+ other machines with
different users, but all run the same OS and LO version.

Expected behavior:
Copy pasting without rendering the system unusable.

Platform:
I run Ubuntu 11.04 amd64 with LibreOffice 3.5.3.

Troubleshooting:
I can't find any segfault error messages in the syslog or kern.log. But I do
find this is Xorg.0.log: http://paste.debian.net/171740/
It probably started with: [ 5087.293] [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is
probably stuck in an infinite loop.

It is not a bug. So should be. If object anchored co cell, then is resizes
automatically.

Exaple: draw arrow from A1 to C3, change anchoring to cell. Then change size of
column B. Arrow still points to cell C3.

Change anchoring to page for disable autoresizing of object

What about Styles:
In difference from Writer, Calc have no Character or Paragraph styles.
Therefore makes no sense to apply style to part of cell.

What about context menu: please, formulate it as Functionality Request
(in msExcel context menu in Formula Bar works, but formatting in Formula Bar
not shown)

Problem description: I open an existing spreadsheet with Calc, via the Windows
7 (64-bit) Start Menu. The document is pinned to the Start Menu. It crashes
within a couple of minutes.

It does crash elegantly by displaying the Recovery dialog box. However,
this freezes and I have to force it to quit (Task Manager). Next time I launch
LibreOffice, the spreadsheet recovers but it crashes soon afterwards.

This doesn't occur every time I open the spreadsheet.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Document
2. Wait for Crash (I might have a minute or two to edit the spreadsheet before
it crashes. But I don't have to do anything and it crashes.)

Current behavior: It crashes.

Expected behavior: Not to crash!

Platform (if different from the browser): Windows 7, 64-Bit

Thanks for attachments. I also done some experiments: added caption to table
using msWord, before table. And then added link to this table at the end of
document.
Word added field: type Ref, option Link to paragraph.
IMHO Word (and doc format) understands only bookmarks in this situation. And
links to bookmarks. And no advanced Writer fields. Therefore table number and
link to it should be translated to bookmark and link to it when we save
document to doc format.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50188] Formatting - Error with LibreOffice Ubuntu docx import, title now on two lines rather than one

2012-05-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50188

--- Comment #4 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-05-29 08:56:21 PDT ---
(In reply to comment #3)
Now at least part of the issue appears to be an incorrect use of bold in the
title of a docx document, I have re-checked in Max OSX 10.6, LibreOffice
3.5.2.2 on an Intel architecture machine.

Even though for both the doc and docx documents the title is on one line, the
title in the docx document is incorrectly bold, which is the same issue as
 is occuring in Ubuntu.

Well, after some additional testing, I have to agree with you about the part
of the issue:

[REPRODUCIBLE] I can confirm that the title of the .docx file appears in bold
in LibreOffice, while it is NOT bold when I open the .docx file with MS Office
2010. This happens independently from the question if the typeface originally
used for the title ('Cambria') is installed or not. Also, if I open the .doc
file version of our test file (attachment 60428) with LibreOffice, the title
correctly appears without the bold attribute.

So there is really a bug especially in the .docx import of LibreOffice: the
title becomes bold, while it is not bold in the .docx file.

My tests have been done with LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 (Build-ID:
165a79a-7059095-e13bb37-fef39a4-9503d1) on MacOS X, so you are right to change
the Platform to All.

But I still think that the *other* part of the original problem (title now on
two lines rather than one) is caused by a missing font ('Cambria'), as stated
in my comment #1. Even if LibreOffice says that the font was 'Cambria' when you
click inside the title, this does not mean that the font actually used for
*display* is really 'Cambria' (I have tried!), it just means that the
*document* wants to use 'Cambria' for the title. This is verified by your PDF
file created on Ubuntu -- the font actually used for the title in the PDF file
is 'DejaVu Sans Bold' (sic! I have verified this using Adobe Acrobat).

So, thank you very much for insisting on the fact that there is a bug! There is
one, of course, namely the erroneously bold import of the title. (I'm sorry
that I did not see it earlier; the reason for this may be the fact that, if I
have 'Cambria' installed, 'Cambria Bold' is used, but this typeface does not
look very 'bold' to me -- so, when 'Cambria' is installed, it is easy to
oversee the erroneously bold style, and when 'Cambria' is not installed, a
completely different typeface is used ['DejaVu Sans Bold'], and therefore I did
again not pay attention to the bold/not bold attribute first.)

Could you agree to a change of the Summary field? Instead of Formatting -
Error with LibreOffice Ubuntu docx import, title now on two lines rather than
one, I would propose to write

FILEOPEN: Error in MSO2007 .docx import: title appears errorneously in bold

Given this Summary, we have a well-defined, easily reproducible bug. This
should make it far easier for the developers to fix the issue ...

(And once that the bold style issue is fixed, we can test again if there is
still another issue with the title style, or if the other problem really was
just a font issue.)

For me, the Check for Updates dialog works fine; even if there is no network

But this could just mean that the problem depends on some other variables I am

 Bug #: 50469

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)

  Severity: blocker

 Component: Presentation

odp file samples of paste attempts

I need very often to copy pages of the metasoftware workflow modeler into
impress for presentations.

I wanted to copy via paste special with enhanced metafile format. This works in
MS PowerPoint very well. However impress allows only GDI metafiles. When using
this option all the words in boxes and the names of all arrows get lost.

Pasting as Workflow Modeler Page creates only a link to the Workflow Modeler
and displays the page in Workflow Modeler SW but doesn't create the link to the
workflow model as such. Additionally the words in the boxes and arrows are lost
as well in the impress slide.

Simple copy paste also looses als the words.

An alternative is paste special as Windows Metafile. This works well in
MSPowerPoint.
