I found this feature by accident while typing an assignment very important to
me.
Writer kept adding lines every time I pressed the enter key, even after typing
characters.
Once enabled there is no apparent way to disable this feature.
This is a deal breaker for me.
To complete my assignment I had to install Abiword.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50868] Libvisio: Draw Crash/Freeze on loading MS Lync Server 2010 Topology Sample Visio Files

2012-06-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50868

--- Comment #2 from Fridrich Strba fridrich.st...@bluewin.ch 2012-06-08
01:33:56 PDT ---
What I see here is that the files are a mess to render. They have several
issues:
1) A file of 9 MB is quite slow to parse for us, since the content of the Visio
file is compressed with a custom compression and we have to uncompress them
into memory first before being able to parse it.
2) The files have a fair amount of NURBS. There is no NURBS primitive in ODG,
or SVG. Instead of approximating them using bezier cubic segments, we
approximate them with 200 lines for each two knots. Some of the rendering will
be faster once we change this approach. And I will not mind a help of someone
who has an experience with that. The NURBS Book is a good source of ideas how
to do it.

There is a workaround if you are interested for the while: disable antialiasing
in Draw and it will render faster, albeit it will not be as nice as it could.

Symptoms:
1. New about box is rendered incorrectly. In cui/source/dialogs/about.cxx
vcl::RenderGraphicRasterizer aRasterizerBackground =

Windows 2000. Later we calculate width/height, and use that NaN for further
calculations.

If you import the picture into draw; you will get a vector graphic. Then just
cut/paste that into a writer document and it should stay as a vector.

Fixing this is outside the scope of the 3.5 or 3.6 releases - we plan to merge
a better solution for 3.7;

On that basis, this makes no sense as a MAB for 3.5 IMHO.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38811] default to SQLite not HSQLDB in Base

2012-06-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #20 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@novell.com 2012-06-08
03:13:46 UTC ---
In the discussion in bug 50575, I discovered that SQLite3 has a rather weak
notion of datatype, and uses dynamic typing instead of static typing which
 underlies the SQL data model.

Interesting of course :-) - I guess we're not talking though about importing
arbitrary sqlite databases, but having a well confined database inside our own
file formats, that we can apply our own constraints to (right?).

In such a situation surely it is possible to layer constraints / strong typing
on top of the database in our code ? [ wouldn't we do that by accident /
default anyway ]. But I guess it's more work if we have to have extra type
annotation information around the place.

Cool - thanks for your nice work on LibreOffice. You can switch your tree to
push-able easily:

./g --set-push-user tvajngerl

And all should be well. Please only push trivial commits to master without
review to start with, and ... welcome to the core team ! :-)

IMHO currently OLE provides minimal lost of formatting, comparing to rtf or
html. It is reason why used OLE as default.
Expected, that Calc-Writer pasting should perform as table. I hope in future
it will be so, but currently pasting as table results in lost of some
formatting of this table.

Workaround: Use Ctrl-Shift-V for pasting.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50878] New: : error when saving if automatcik backup enabled

2012-06-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50878

 Bug #: 50878
Summary: : error when saving if automatcik backup enabled
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: dafr...@gmail.com

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. enable 'always create backup copy' under tools-options-load/save-general

2. save an existing document after editing

Current behavior: error message (see screenshot) and document not saved.

Expected behavior: save document and backup copy

Platform (if different from the browser): Ubuntu 12.04, 64bit.

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/13.0

I found the cause of this error:
The default directory for backups listed under tools-options-LibreOffice-
paths (/home/MYUSERNAME/.config/libreoffice/3/user/backup) did not exist.
Manually creating the backup directory solved the problem. I would expect this
direcotry to be created automatically either on install or on the first attempt
to save a backup document.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46378] Poor Resampling Image quality

2012-06-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46378

--- Comment #18 from Fernand s...@pmg.be 2012-06-08 05:07:56 UTC ---
Tomaz,
I tested with today's LOdev 7
Fine results compared to before, but when compared to Irfanview, there is still
a small diference in overall quality Irfan is a bit more sharp, (maybe they do
a sharpening in the same run) or Lancsoz can been tweeked to have this
sharpness ?
Sharpess can also harm the quality, so its kind of a choise to make.
The number off unique colors can also been seen as a quality factor, here Irfan
is also a bit better (9% more original colors) (85000-93000)
Hope it helps

Test is made with the attached image, no tweeks on Irfan, just standard
resampling (Lancsoz)

My observation about hiding ts inside a cast expression was just to express
my
wonderment at all the work that OKeySet does, given that LO appears to work on
a
table without any key at all. A query like ...

select * from ( select nr, cast( ts as char(26) ), word from byTs )

would hide the key even deeper; it shows the data successfully.

Still, this is merely an aside to the reported problem.

Sample Document

Steps how to reproduce with server-installation of Master LOdev 3.6.0alpha1+
– WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID: bfa9061] (tinderbox:
Win-x86@6-fast, pull time 2012-06-02 23:56:11):

1. open attached Sample document
2. select column with heading b
3. Menu 'Table - Delete - Column'
Column deleted
4. Mouse pointer to border between Headings c, a
5. Drag and drop table cell border 5mm to the left
   CRASH

Crash is reproducible with any similar sample document containing a small table
used as data table for a chart (select all Table before insert chart).

Reproducible with 3.3.3, I think it's inherited form OOo

IMHO exotic table use, so only major, not critical.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 32484] Allow anchor settings in frame styles

2012-06-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32484

--- Comment #2 from Roland Baudin rolan...@free.fr 2012-06-08 07:14:50 PDT ---
The bug is still there in LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 (on Linux). There is still no way
to change the anchor style of graphic styles using the UI.

However, as was said on the Openoffice bugzilla, it can be done by setting the
anchor type of an already inserted graphic object and then using the upper
right button Update styles.

This works for user created styles but NOT for default styles. As a
consequence, it is NOT possible to change the default anchor style used when
inserting a graphic.

I have confirmed this bug with both rtf and docx format using Build: 80d5a21

Added two attachments. When I created the documents the first page was set to
page 7 and showed correctly in the footer. After closing the document and
reopening it the page changed to page 1.

Marking as CONFIRMED.

Just as a note to those experiencing this bug, there is rarely an instance when
saving in docx is necessary thus the trivial status.

The second issue should be addressed in a separate bug.

For the 1st I have really strange behavior. I can confirm that at first it was
a problem with 3.6.0alpha1 build 80d5a21 BUT after I clicked on the check mark
I was never able to get it back. On top of this after I clicked the check mark
(unticked it) a whole list of new things showed in the options - Basically any
thing that was available to show came up in a list.

This leads me to think that the check marks purpose is to Hide List of Non
Visible Buttons. I'm not sure what the best label is, if there are any
suggestions I'll try to pinpoint it and add the label.

I'm raising this from trivial status to Normal as I think .doc should be better
handled in general in order to ensure that the transition between MS Office and
LibreOffice is a smooth one. Preserving location of an image seems pretty
important if we hope to keep users around who are forced to switch between LO
and MS, for instance with me I have to use MS Office at work and choose to use
LO at home, if I was dealing with images a lot, this bug would be a nightmare.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50885] New: Editing - Table spacing to cell contents gets set to 0.1 cm

2012-06-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50885

 Bug #: 50885
Summary: Editing - Table spacing to cell contents gets set to
0.1 cm
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
  Platform: Other

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: drgru...@planthealth.co.uk

This is a really annoying possible bug:

1. Create a table with some content
2. Select some cells e.g. a heading row
3. Click on the borders icon and set top and bottom borders

Result:
border are drawn okay but
the cells get a spacing to contents of 0.1 cm applied
I then have to manually change back again to my original setting of 0.05
so that the contents are aligned with the rest of the table.

Perhaps I am missing something or being stupid, but clearly there is some
default setting being applied if the spacing is 0.1, but there is nowhere to
change this default setting (I have looked in the tools options, and in table
and frame styles)

I recall in ms-word that if I set table cell settings for the first table they
would get carried forward for all subsequent tables.

I use lots of tables so this is driving me nuts.

example of text and cursor places

How to reproduce:
1. Enter any symbols from start to end of string. The last symbol must be a -
(minus sign). And enter one more string from start to end of string. You may
enter the 2 strings of only -.
2. Set align right or align width.
3. Set cursor on end of lower string. Sometimes you must press end key.
4.1. If you press up key then cursor moves to end of this string, not at
upper string.
4.2 If you press down key when cursor is in string upper than string with -
sign, then cursor jumps on 2 strings down.

Please remove the splash screen. It cannot contribute to faster startup and
feels like a relic. 3.5 is already fast enough to remove it IMO, but if 3.6
startup time is ~1 sec, there's no rationale for keeping it in that future
version. In my opinion. :)

It is a so called user dictionary, which belong to extras. It is not trivial to
