> In the summary you write XHTML, in the text you write HTML. Which one is
> correct? Do you use File > Export or File > Save As ?
It is File > Export > XHTML.

Save As > HTML (Document Writer) produces output that does not look anything
like the original .odt document so I gave up on that. For example section
headers have no left margin and the text stretches the full width of my browser
window. The output file does not contain the styles which are the subject of
this bug. It also generates a bunch of .gif files for each of the equations in
the document while Export uses data: URIs giving just a single output file
which is vastly preferable.

>

I'll see if I can produce one.

We'd already found and fixed another valgrind issue with the xml parser (for

hmm... i do see the double borders but they are a bit hard to see; at lower
zoom levels they look more like single borders... (at least in 3.6.3)

also on current master build the borders look much thinner than in 3.6.3, which
is probably good.

hmm... the problem is that the UI allows setting the style independent from the
width, and the double borders are really indistinguishable at small widths.

the UI in Word offers fixed sizes for each style, and for many
of those double line style the effective minimum total width is 2.5pt or 3pt,
which makes this much less of a problem.

Type a word without errors and it should indent as expected. If you need a

Have tested with earlier LO-Versions: With LO 3.5.0 you could open the form for
editing, save the form and close the form. The pictures on buttons haven't
gone. So this bug appeared first with LO 3.5.1.

Up to 3.5.7 the embedding of graphics seems to be allowed - but didn't work. So
since 3.6 the embedding isn't allowed any more ...

Should we ask for an enhancement to get the old functionality of LO 3.3 and LO
3.4 and LO 3.5.0 back? Could be this is a second bug depending on this bug.

Surely not. Bug 46738 is a bug that only a few users will ever see and will
then result in no formatting information being written out after more than 80
empty rows.

I can't reproduce this either in master. It would be really strange if we have
such a bug and only one report.

Can you please add some more details and maybe attach such document.

My apologies if this is not the place to issue complaints and all but I believe
this bug has been with us for a good year now...anyone would be so kind as to
let us know if and when this is supposed to be looked into? I find it
increasingly frustrating to work with large (i.e. many pages) word and excel
documents knowing that this behaviour will kick into my workload given the
first opportunity. Please please someone at least put a timeframe into
resolving it..

P.S. I'm on 10.7.5, i believe this also stands true for 10.8.x...Most of the
people i know have already jumped ship and abandoned 10.6.8, it's a pitty that
LibreOffice still exhibits the same crappy vertical scrollbar bug, a pitty to
say the least.

I don't agree about your explanation. I have the "formula disappears" bug, on
my new laptop (E350 amd 4GB, though not so quick machine) , and on my desktop
(4GB ram, quad core amd , very quick one).

Some point I'd like to add. The description "Formula disappears after editing"
is not so close to my problem. The formula disappearring can happen in an old
formula of the document, and not specificly on the edited one.

Aaand another one.

This time, I wrote the document from scratch.
No images used in the document, and this specific formula was not involved in
copy/pasting, but I copy/pasted other formulas (two simultaneously).

I have no idea why this time, not even the old image appears.

I'm sorry I can't give out the whole document when the bug occurs, since these
are assignments and I don't want my true name to appear here.

I'm starting to backup all formulas in an external editor just so I don't have
to type anything. Sigh.

Correction

The field/record selector in Writer shows WRONG count. Sorry, didn't look
exactly to the counter. I found, that in the selector dialog the records, which
are printed twice are in one block. So it isn't that i get an output like:

Page 23 -> A
Page 24 -> A
Page 25 -> B
Page 26 -> B
Page 27 -> C
Page 28 -> C

but

Page 23 -> A
Page 24 -> B
Page 25 -> C
Page 26 -> A
Page 27 -> B
Page 28 -> C

In the field/record selector of Writer you can also see:
E
R
A
B
C
A
B
C
X
Z

in the middle of the file.

I noticed around line 70 (in hex editor, I'm just using VIM hex mode):

In the "VALID" XLS files (they're very similar in contents) each one has an "F"
character on line 50 (last column of hex).

However, in the "INVALID" XLS file, there's no data on line 70, but it seems
like the "data" starts around line 42 with a "B" character.

Sorry if this isn't much help, if there's any other help I can give let me
know.

Also note: My "INVALID" xls file opens fine in Google Docs, Microsoft Office,
and I'm sure Open Office (others have reported this corruption doesn't happen

multitude of different options, but the end result is the "data" comes up as
being corrupted. (I've tried different charsets, like UTF-8, to no avail -
UTF-8 just brings the data to come up as those standard unicode "boxes".)

Opening the file in a hex editor, I do notice that it looks quite a bit
different from another XLS file I have (that opens fine). I can see the data in
here, but its offset like an XLS file but it seems to be offset a little
differently. (Sorry, very limited hex/xls experience...)

Let me know if there's any way for me to help. Again, unfortunately I can't
provide this file but I would if I could.

re windows. I don't know how the file associations work there, but I suspect
it'll be something in that same sysui module as well.

re which .desktop for the mime-type. Its a nuisance of this mimetype that its
shared by the .wps format and the .xlr format. Ideally there'd be two, and we
could put one in calc and one in writer. I don't think there's any great
solution. If we leave it in the writer .destop and calc is also installed then
it should still "just work".

Sheet with frozen column.

Please see attached sheet. Column A is frozen. If you insert a comment into

Delete the comment from A, and using the scroll bar, move the sheet to the
right so that only column D is visible next to the frozen A. Try inserting a

'behind' the freeze (being on column B.

I don't know if it is a bug or not. Is this behaviour by design?

I would have expected the comment field be be 'dynamic' relative to cell A, and
remain 'On top', regardless of where the 'rest of the sheet cells are'

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56618] New: MAILMERGE: Using a csv as database creates SOME duplicate pages

2012-10-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56618

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56618
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: MAILMERGE: Using a csv as database creates SOME
duplicate pages
  Severity: critical
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: rudolf.koll...@medas.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.5.6.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Hello,

when a csv text file (separated by ; and "") is used as input source for
mailmerge, some of the records are printed twice.

We have a mailmerge with a csv file with 240 records. The first record defines
the field names, the rest are simple mail addresses. We created a LO database
file and registered it in writer. When choosing the file as data source for the
text document, the right count of records is displayed in the field/record
selector of Writer. When we than print the mailmerge (ether direct to the
printer or to file(s)) with all records, than some of the records (the
page/document) printed twice. To be clear: the data is NOT printed twice on ONE
page, a second page with complete same data is generated.

When we load the csv file into a Calc spreadsheet, save the spreadsheet and
than select this speradsheet as the input source for the mailmerge, all went
normal. Each record is printed once.

- In LO Base, when you view the records, there are the right count.
- In the field/record selector the right count is shown.
- In the created spreadsheet the right count is shown.

When printing direct from the text file, the duplicated records are always the
same, so the error is repeatable.

We thought, there is a error in the csv, but:
1) Base and Calc show the content right
2) Calc imports right
3) Datasource selector of Writer shows right
4) We used this file format with OOo 3.2 with no problems, the creating program
wasn't changed.

The error occurs with LO 3.5.6.2 on Linux and also with 3.6.0.4 on Mac. So it
seems not to be OS specific.

I can provide the text file to a assigned developer by PM. Please show
understanding, that i cannot attach this file viewable to the public. But the
data is not so confidential that it cannot be used in a development
environment.

Thanks for warning about this problem. Me and other readers of this bugreport
will be more cautious when using network.
Currently LO can not work with network at all. It is KDE workaround.
IMHO it is better to not edit network files at all. Just copy them to local
drive and then edit. It is boring, but probability of information loss is much
more low.

(In reply to comment #10)

> awkward and anachronistic.

I consider a good support for Unicode spaces as something essential for a word
processor with advanced layout capabilities. Software like Word or LibreOffice
and even InDesign is in many respects "anachronistic" in your sense of the word
(typewriter-like or lead-typesetting-like), there is no other way to define the
spacing you want but in the form of glyphs. With XSL transformations of XML
documents (or TeX) you can have a stylesheet (instead of the document) define
the spaces in a template, thus achieving a uniform handling of for example thin
spaces around « Bonjour! » - but even then you need to define the spaces as
Unicode characters in the template. You just needn't encode them in your
document. With word processors (and DTP software), you have to set all the
spaces yourself in the document text. It is somewhat anachronistic and very
error-prone typesetting - but a straightforward and simple concept for users.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56513] Regression: Second header/footer of section lost during FILESAVE as .doc

2012-10-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56513

I noticed that this problem only occurs when the second section's first page
header is marked as "Link to Previous" in Word (which is the default). This
has the effect that the first page header is actually stored against the first
section, though not used there because "Different First Page" is not enabled
for section 1. In this case rSection.maSep.grpfIhdt & WW8_HEADER_FIRST is not
set which is what broke the logic in wwSectionManager::GetPageULData. However
if "Link to Previous" is unset in Word, then a first page header will be stored
against the second section, and rSection.maSep.grpfIhdt & WW8_HEADER_FIRST will
be set.

WW8_HEADER_ODD and WW8_HEADER_EVEN seem to be set consistently for all sections
in a document regardless of the "Link to Previous" setting. The anomaly arises
only for WW8_HEADER_FIRST. (Same for WW8_FOOTER_*).

(BTW the version of Word whose output I am observing is Word 2010).

The changes to the printer properties accessed by the user hitting the
Properties button from within the Print dialog are stored within the
spreadsheet file.
 * The printer properties are only committed to the file when the
button is pressed. What if the user wants to change the properties for next
time the file is opened without wasting another sheet of paper? In this case a
 button would be useful.
 * Once the printer properties are committed to the spreadsheet file, the file
is not marked as dirty and the user is not allowed to save it. The user must
change something within the file such as some cell data and then save the file
in order to get the changes saved to disk.
 * This is on a KDE Ubuntu (Kubuntu) system since the KDE integration is likely
important.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 41652] "NO-BREAK SPACE" (U+00A0) interpreted as fixed-width space

2012-10-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41652

(re Comment #10) I don't think it makes much sense to discuss the merits of
various spaces or typography issues, Simo, especially on LO Bugzilla. The
characters exist, people can use them, and LO should handle them as well as
possible. The details are often just a matter of taste, or the willingness to
distinguish among a dozen kinds of space characters...

I think Roman's proposal (Comment #3) to let the user configure in
Options/Writer/Compatibility how the classical "hard space" (encoded as U+00A0)
should be handled (fixed-width as in Word or proportional as Unicode says) is a
very practical solution. The Compatibility menu gives users the choice to set
an option just for the current file or use it as a default.

If you decide to go with Unicode standards and configure a proportional U+00A0,
you can use the characters that Unicode has defined as fixed-width spaces:
U+2000 to U+200A, U+202F, U+205F.

The problem here is interoperability with MS Word, because Word, as said,
displays all characters not defined in the font as "box characters". But
probably this is becoming less of a problem. I had a look at some fonts: For
Windows 7, Microsoft supplies fonts that actually define the various Unicode
spaces. So it would be users of older Windows versions or users of the many
fonts with a more restricted character set that would see the "box character".
You can, as a workaround, format all fixed-width spaces in Verdana, Times New
Roman or some other Unicode font to avoid that (somewhat, at least).

You can use fileformat.info to check some font glyph sets:
http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/202f/fontsupport.htm
(for U+202F), or you can use the character map application of the OS.

I have no idea how comprehensive the fonts that come with MacOS are, or if Word
for Mac has the same "box character" issue as Word for Win. Would be good to
know...

Hi,

The "caterpillar" animation for the copied selection in Calc eats lots of CPU,
slowing all processes on modest computers.

To reproduce this:
- Open LibreOffice Calc on a new project,
- Select several cells
- Hit ctrl+C
- Look at CPU usage
- Hit escape
- CPU is low again.

It seems that the largest the selection is, the highest the CPU usage is.

This has been tested on Ubuntu 12.04 and Debian testing, with and without 3D
drivers installed on several computers. Not tested yet on Windows.

Thanks in advance,

Pascal

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56611] New: FILESAVE: No warning message if result file format has any limitations in rows or columns (xlsx -> xls)

2012-10-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56611

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56611
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILESAVE: No warning message if result file format has
any limitations in rows or columns (xlsx -> xls)
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: kaktebyaviru...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.2.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 69349
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=69349&action=edit
Example .xlsx file with 129 383 rows

We have .xlsx file that contain 129 383 rows. If we try to save this file in
Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP/2003 (.xls) file format , then after saving we have
.xls file truncated to 65 536 rows (all the rest is missed). And program did
not show any warnings like "Document contains more rows or columns than
supported in the selected file format". Risk of data loss is very large and you
can not always immediately detect it.

Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: mahf...@gmail.com

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.3.1 rc
 Component: Chart
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 69348

Example spreadsheet which shows the "correct" case.

1. Try to create a chart with two label lines, one having merged cells, the
other not (please see the attached file).
2. If the second not-merged line contains numbers it is counted as usual data
line although the first line has merged cells.

To expose the problem:
1. Change the second row to regular numbers (as opposed to strings which they
are now, that would be without preceding apostrophe ')
2. Try to create a new chart from the same dataset.
or (that one which annoys me)
3. Copy the cart to Writer, the chart gets recreated there and the second line
is not used at all, merged line is used as regular one.

The only two workaround are to use strictly text values (either with preceding
apostrophe ' or marking these cells as text cells) or to copy it to Writer as
GDI object (which has drawbacks).

Sorry for the poor summary and description, the matter is somewhat complex to
describe. If there is anything that needs clarification, please let me know.

Please see the attached file as well.

Other than that LibreOffice is quite awesome :)

As with Bug #56507: Could you please check that the text is not copied as
formatted text? There would be no bug then: Direct formatting overrides style
sheet formatting. Paste the text using Ctrl+Shift+V as unformatted text and
apply the style; or remove any direct formatting of characters with Ctrl+M.

I could not reproduce that with LO 3.5.4.2. Please check if you had any direct
character formatting applied to the bulleted list before formatting it as a
title. Direct formatting is kept when applying a style, you have to remove it
using the Format menu (Ctrl-M).

In version 3.6.3RC2 problem still occurs:

in a slide:
-press button 'numbering ON'
-enter multiple lines; these are marked with a bullet
-select any line; the buttons indent left/right are disabled
-pressing Alt+Shift+Left/Right produces irregular (and certainly unexpected)
results

Thank you for reply.

I open to use Adobe Reader 10.2 for Windows.
Adobe Reader9 10 11 is same garbled characters.

Only TextBox is not garbled characters.
It is garbled character to add ComboBox in Japanese Character list value.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54082] FILESAVE: Calc corrupting some XLS files on save

2012-10-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54082

This bug is still in there in 3.5.7.

Particularly annoying since many users still depend on 3.5 as stable in
production environments.

Our problem is a bit different - but I am sure it is the same bug.

1. in 3.5.7 open a .XLSX file of 229 mb

2. Save as it as an XLS file. File size gets 15 mb.

3. The XLS file can not be opened in 3.5.7. It can be opened in Excel, though.
