[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64847] UI: Open various files in different Tabs in Writer
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64847 --- Comment #4 from goldf...@aol.in --- I feel the picture shared by rainer ( http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/3648/kingsoftwritertabs.png ) shows this so beautifully. As they say a picture is equal to 1000 words. Plus, his description makes it even more clear. I do not think the pictures shared by Owen Genat explains tabbed usage as can be done with Opera & Firefox but these pictures make me think of the 'Ribbon'. I definitely will never request for the 'Ribbon' interface which many people dislike. I also think this 'bug' feature request for an enhancement is a duplicate of “Bug" 37134. Therefore, suitable step to mark this as duplicate may be made & we can proceed accordingly. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 32485] Settings on the image frame style lost when caption is applied
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32485 --- Comment #3 from Owen Genat --- Created attachment 79733 --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=79733&action=edit Files (ODT/PDF/JPEG) for 4-step process outlining captioning. I am attaching a series of working examples and providing some further detail in order to better illustrate the point being made by the OP. This problem still occurs under v4.0.3.3 (Build ID: 0eaa50a932c8f2199a615e1eb30f7ac74279539). In summary, as indicated by the OP, the visual display of elements (after captioning) does not indicate the underlying XML frame style definitions. Hopefully the detail here is helpful. My attached example includes several files, which are relatively self-explanatory by their names. They indicate a 4-step process of: 1_ Two text paragraphs and the "Graphics" and "Frame" styles formatted as required (both with No Wrap, 18pt above/below for Graphics, 0pt above/below for Frame, both with width 100%, height Auto, and position Left/Top). 2_ A single graphic inserted between the two paragraphs (JPEG is included separately). 3_ The single graphic captioned via right-click > Caption... method i.e., graphic is enclosed in a text box. 4_ "Graphics" frame style is re-applied to graphic in text box. There is a PDF of each ODT for clarity. The following is an overview of the XML during critical stages of this process. Step 2 - Uncaptioned graphic When a graphic is inserted it is placed in a element and given a corresponding element (in content.xml), which in turn links to a and element pair for the "Graphics" frame style (in styles.xml) where the fo:margin-top and fo:margin-bottom attributes are set. For example in the attached file 2_inserted_graphic.odt the XML appears thus: content.xml: styles.xml: Note the initial definition for above / below margins surrounding the graphic are handled via the "Graphics" frame style in styles.xml. This is expected and matches that in 1_text_only_edited_frame_styles.odt. Step 3 - Captioned graphic When a graphic is given a caption via the right-click > Caption... method an additional text box is added around the existing frame. The original element is enclosed in a subsequent and element pair, with the text-box linking to the "Frame" frame style in styles.xml. For example in the attached file 3_inserted_graphic_with_caption.odt the XML appears thus: content.xml: Figure 1. Bar scene. style.xml: As can been seen the inner graphics frame (style name "fr1" originally) has become "fr2" and the associated "Graphics" frame style in styles.xml has maintained the fo:margin-top and fo:margin-bottom settings ("18pt" in the example) as expected. Similarly the "Frame" frame style in styles.xml has maintained its fo:margin-top and fo:margin-bottom settings ("0pt" in the example). However the style:graphic-properties element for the "Frame" frame style in content.xml now also has fo:margin-top and fo:margin-bottom set to "18pt". As the OP mentions the spacing appears "transferred" from the graphic to the enclosing text box. Step 4 - Re-applied "Graphics" frame style Re-applying the "Graphics" frame style to the enclosed graphic brings back the space between the graphic and surrounding frame. The differences in content.xml and style.xml between 3_inserted_graphic_with_caption.odt and 4_inserted_graphic_with_caption_with_reapplied_style.odt are: content.xml: The element for the "fr2" (graphic) frame removes these attributes in step 4: fo:margin-left="0pt" fo:margin-right="0pt" fo:margin-top="0pt" fo:margin-bottom="0pt" style:run-through="foreground" style:wrap="none" style:horizontal-pos="from-left" style:horizontal-rel="paragraph-content" fo:padding="0pt" fo:border="none" style:shadow="none" The same element also has a change in attribute from style:vertical-pos="from-top" to style:vertical-pos="top". The element for the "fr2" (graphic) frame includes these additional attributes in step 4: svg:x="0.11pt" svg:y="0.06pt" styles.xml: A new style is included: -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34750] can not set text for crossreference
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34750 --- Comment #3 from Owen Genat --- I don't think this is a bug. I explain here (for a different context, but still dealing with the same ODF XML detail) how these elements work: http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/11182/how-can-i-make-a-cross-reference-to-a-text-box/?answer=17814#post-id-17814 There are two types of bookmarks/references: point and range. What is demonstrated in this bug is a point bookmark/reference (anchor). It does not include any text, so the Value field when setting a cross-reference (citation) to it will correspondingly not display any text. On the other hand a range reference (anchor) uses start and end marks to surround text, specifically allowing the Value field to be populated when creating a cross-reference (citation) to the anchor in question. Unless the OP can expand further on why a point bookmark/reference (anchor) should include greater detail, and how this would be incorporated into the ODF specification, I recommend this be RESOLVED as NOTABUG. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

However I noticed along the way that the Change Icon dialog says that the preferred size for an image is 16 by 16 pixels. Perhaps it is the lack of scaling which makes the image render correctly, and execution on Windows is merely coincidental. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35570 --- Comment #17 from mikefreeman1...@gmail.com --- Cor: You're welcome to change this to "enhancement" or whatever you wish, as long as it gets this issue fixed faster. I've been waiting for this for many years (since the OOo 2.0 days), and was promised from the OOo people, since before everything blew up and LibreOffice fork was made, that it would definitely be done in the 3.x series. I do understand, though, that this fork is by a different group and any promises by one is not bound to the other. As for the popup recommendation, I would imagine that would be the worst way to do it (no offense). Would you want a popup every time you went to move a section of a paragraph or an image? Of course not. You just want it to be inserted into the spot you dragged it to. Anything else (including the current table behavior) is just non-intuitive design, causing unnecessary extra work for the user. As for making comments about the version it affects, I do this for two reasons: 1. Because I guess I misunderstood that "Version" means the first version it affected, not the most recent version it affects. That's sort of vague and should maybe be clarified. 2. To see if anyone is actually paying attention. Squeaky wheel sort of thing. Thank you for your comments, though. Expected: Either opening with Draw (best case) or a message according to comment 14 or provide an organized list where the user can select an appropriate file format according the proposal of bug 41000. (3) From Calc: Dialog "Text Import" is displayed. I assume that this dialog is meant with "CSV import dialog" of the initial description. To my opinion not OK, hence LibroOffice assumes that the file is a text file which should be imported to a spreadsheet. But this is not the case !! Expected: Either opening with Draw (best case) or a message according to comment 14 or provide an organized list where the user can select an appropriate file format according to the proposal of bug 41000. (4) From Impress, Draw, Math: File is opened with Draw. OK! I did the same tests with a LO installation where I deselected the installation component "Graphic Filters". In this case the result is different: (1) From the Start Center with "Open...", Calc, Impress, Draw and Math: Dialog "Text Import" is displayed. To my opinion not OK, hence LibroOffice assumes that the file is a text file which should be imported to a spreadsheet. And this is not the case !! (2) From Writer: A text document is opened. Not OK !! In order to reproduce the bug, download the attached document and try to open it under the mentioned conditions. Just an idea: What about a message something like: "Unable to detect a format of " [Open as text] [Open as spreadsheet] [Open other format] [Cancel] And then if the user clicks "Open other format" s/he gets the full list of possible formats. Most of the problems have been resolved with the addition of additional fonts, as detailed in the opensuse mailing list referenced above. However, the problem of the picture on the second page not being in the correct position remains. Specifically, the picture is moved up about 3/4 of an inch on the second page. The top of the picture is clipped or maybe it is hidden under the cover page picture? The bottom of the second page picture shows a white band at the bottom, because nothing is displayed there. Its blank, because the picture on that page isn't displayed correctly. It should be obvious what I am trying to convey to you if you display the pdf file and the doc file side by side. Column label "Alabel" is a function of another cell. When the file is saved and then opened, the label is invalid in the formula that references the label. In attached file testCase.ods, cell C1 is a function of cell A1. C1 is defined as a label (in this case a label for cell C2). This label 'Alabel' is referenced in the formula in cell B1. After saving and again opening the file, the reference to 'Alabel' in cell B1 is invalid. To demonstrate the problem, open file testCase.ods, set contents of cell B1 to "='Alabel'" (no double quotes) and cell B1 will display the contents of cell C2, i.e. "stuff". After saving and opening the file again, cell B1 will be "#NAME?", whereas it should be the value before the file was saved, i.e. "stuff". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Features: Comments (ctr, everything c). has some problems: 1 when you have made a comment and want to use the text from it by copy / paste into a document it comes out as white text, then one must highlight and select the font color. 2 you can not choose the font for all the comments at once but must do it for each comment separately. it would be nice if it could be changed. 3 (and probably the most annoying problem): You can not print it as part of the text. If you want to print the comments you must either choose to have it as a list whereas the line number and page so you have to start counting forward, or get the "end of the page" as it is called - in fact it means that the comment is printed on one side for themselves and still only with line number as reference. Is it not possible to functionalize it a little so it came to serve as footnotes do - number and bottom of the page (so you do not use a rainforest every time you print one document). even better would be if it could be such that you could choose the reference code - instead of No. 1,2,3 as the footnotes example from Paul, John, Marie ... sincerely Bo -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

And other Hyperlink problems. Severity: major Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux (All) Reporter: rat...@gmail.com Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.0.3.3 release Component: Libreoffice Product: LibreOffice If you add Hyperlink to PDF file in your computer Calc opens it fine, but after rebooting computer (or maybe even Libreoffice) Hyperlink doesnt do nothing. New hyperlink works fine but older doesnt. Same result as a button and text. Hyperlink buttons text size is too big and is poorly readable because upper and lower part of letters are missing. Button can't be even moved inside cell anywhere and it is annoyingly top of cell. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64918] New: EDITING: Find by format doesn't work with decimal font sizes sizes
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64918 Priority: medium Bug ID: 64918 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: EDITING: Find by format doesn't work with decimal font sizes sizes Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: All Reporter: elico...@hotmail.com Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) Status: NEW Version: 4.0.2.2 release Component: Writer Product: LibreOffice Find by formatting doesn't return any results if a non-integer font size is returned. To reproduce: 1. Enter some text in font size 11pt 2. Enter some more text in font size 11.5pt 3. Open the Find & Replace dialog (CTRL+H) 4. Click More Options 5. Click Format 6. Enter 11.5pt into the Size box. 7. Click ok and then Find 8. Observe 'Search key not found' error Trying the same but entering 11pt at step 6 works fine so the problem seems to be specific to non-integer font sizes. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
