[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52433] MEMORY LEAK: large .odt (with many big StarViewMetafiles) leading to 200Mb leak each save.
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52433 --- Comment #30 from mic...@nallino.net --- Hello, It seems that Apache OpenOffice 4.0 has changed the way memory is managed. I have a large file (260 MB, 387 pages, 129 jpeg pictures). When I open it with OpenOffice 3.4.1, or with LibreOffice 3.6.6 (the latest version I have tested, under Windows 7), the memory used by soffice.bin is some 400 MB. When I open it with AOO 4.0, the memory used is some 950 MB. When I save with AOO 3.4.1 or LO 3.6.6, memory used increases up to 1500 MB (and comes back to 400 MB with AOO 3.4.1, or 600 MB with LO 3.6.6 -- here is the memory leak). However, when I save it with AOO 4.0, the memory used constantly decreases, down to some 90 MB. With future use (write / save) of AOO 4.0 memory stays in the range 90 - 125 MB, decreasing to 90 MB at each save. It seems that there is a memory release mechanism that has been used in AOO 4.0. The result is that both peak and average memory used is lower than with AOO 3.4.1 and that there is still no memory leak, unlike with LO 3.5x and further versions. Maybe the way memory is managed by AOO 4.0 could be analysed, and used in a future release of LO? Best regards, M. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67433] New: FORMATTING: Image / calc chart endless self-replication
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67433 Priority: medium Bug ID: 67433 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: FORMATTING: Image / calc chart endless self-replication Severity: major Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux (All) Reporter: greg.gille...@gmail.com Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.0.2.2 release Component: Writer Product: LibreOffice Created attachment 83116 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=83116action=edit multiplying pasted image (chart) Sorry if this doesn't warrant a major label although there was a real risk of either the document or my computer crashing and I had to shut the programme down and start from my last saved file. If I used the recovery the programme would start with the same problem. Generally writer has been quite poor at handling images and pasted charts (from calc). I have been forced to anchor to a page in order to prevent them jumping from page to page seemingly at random (sometimes three pages sometimes more), although that means that once I write past that page I have to re-paste the image in the proper place in the document. This observation is what led to the bug. I tried to use paragraph anchoring hoping the image (a chart from calc, selected from just the cells with data in them) would continue moving down the document as I wrote above it. Instead, the image jumped half-way up the document (about 40 pages) I hit undo, to bring it back, cut the image, pasted it two pages down, and set paragraph anchoring again and the image began self-replicating. I took a screen shot before shutting down the programme in case it crashed the programme or my computer (it was already getting very slow). It had replicated over 400 times to 400 pages within half a minute and was not stopping. You can see this from the page count in the bottom of the picture. It was not a huge deal in terms of losing my document since I had just saved, although I cannot get the image to stay put and continue moving down as I write. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67434] New: Experimental sidebar doesn't use my UI font family size
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67434 Priority: medium Bug ID: 67434 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: Experimental sidebar doesn't use my UI font family size Severity: trivial Classification: Unclassified OS: All Reporter: heinzless...@gmail.com Hardware: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.1.0.4 release Component: UI Product: LibreOffice Created attachment 83117 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=83117action=edit Annotated Screenshot Some parts of LibreOffice's experimental sidebar use the wrong font for the UI – the font Segoe UI seems to be hardcoded somewhere, along with a nonstandard font size. Note: the Segoe UI font is the normal UI font under Windows Vista and up, although not at this particular size. Also, the Segoe UI font is normally not installed under Linux, since it is a proprietary MS font. So, to reproduce it under Linux, you could either try finding Segoe UI on the web (not that hard, but I won't help) or copy it from a Windows partition (C:\Windows\Fonts, file names are segoeui.ttf, segoeuib.ttf, segoeuii.ttf, segoeuiz.ttf), then copy the font files to /usr/share/fonts on your Linux partition). Reproducing it under Windows may become a bit hard since Windows (at least, v8) doesn't seem to allow setting a different font… at least not via the Control Panel UI. Anyway, under Linux, if you have installed Segoe UI, it's easy to reproduce: 1. Start LibreOffice Writer 2. Go to Tools Options LibreOffice/Advanced, then tick Enable Experimental Sidebar 3. Click OK 4. Click Restart Now 5. Click the second icon from the top of the sidebar to open the Properties panel 6. If the settings under Page are not expanded, do this now 7. Click on any of the four icons under Page Result: you'll see a (often just slightly) different font being used in the popup. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63217] icon for Rich Text Docum. (wordpad) is changed to ODT icon with many user names (accounts)
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63217 --- Comment #1 from Stefan Knorr (astron) heinzless...@gmail.com --- LibreOffice has a single icon for all text document formats (odt, doc, rtf, docx, …), another single icon for all spreadsheet formats (ods, xls, xlsx, …), etc. This lets you easily see what software you can expect this file to be opened with. Apart from that, at least in theory, a text document is a text document is a text document. If you want to know more, you're highly encouraged to turn off Windows's Hide Known File Extensions feature. If you let LibreOffice take charge of your RTF icons, it is expected that the icons for the files will change, too. So, that's not a bug, really. However, as I understand you, you say that the icon is not switched in all cases? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

A little googling revealed this to be Duden Korrektor's fault (again). I realise that closed source extensions with uncooperative developers are a pain, I just wanted you to know that a workaround from the LO side would be much appreciated. Sadly, Duden Korrektor is so far ahead of the competition (libre or not), that someone who works a lot with written German can hardly do without it. Since you use emerge, you may have to keep the automated Gentoo-specific package build system from stripping the object files, or install a separate package named libreoffice-dbg or libreoffice-debug or libreoffice-symbols or something like that. Sorry, don't know about Gentoo-specific procedures around don't strip the built objects / install the symbols from separate package. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
