[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69162] Other: Cmd-arrow and Opt-arrow in query design view crashes LibreOffice

2013-09-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69162

On Mac 10.7.5 and LO 4.1.1.2, I don't reproduce this.

What LO version do you use? Could you give a try the last one?
If you still reproduce this, could you rename your LO directory profile (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Mac_OS_X) and try again?

I confirm bug on 4.1.1 and 4.1.0 final releases under Win7 64bit.
no issue on 4.0.4, hence regression.

IMHO this is a "viewing" bug rather than a "saving" bug.

the RTF output shows extra lines between footnotes in 4.1.x but looks normal in
4.1.x

it doesn't matter if you do the ODT->RTF conversion in 4.0.x or 4.1.x
final results depend of viewing.

   Product: LibreOffice

When a sheet is split (and the panes frozen) it is not registered as a change
in the sheet and there is no opportunity to save the new state so that it is
returned next time the sheet is open. This may be a bug or a feature that has
not yet been coded. It is a fairly important feature.

I've just tested Ubuntu 13.10 32 bit daily with LO 4.1.2 (official package),
same problem still occured.

Since not many users experience this problem, my guess the problem is from
spesific video card in Ubuntu based distro (perhaps only in gtk/gnome based).
Because it's not occured in Kubuntu 12.04 or PCLinuxOS KDE 32bit with LO
4.0.4.2.

The sample documents to reproduce the issue

Problem description:
With certain docx documents, page breaks (section breaks) are totally lost and
all the contents are crammed into a single page. We are developing a system
utilizing LO to enable PDF conversion capability, and first discovered while we
were trying to convert docx documents generated with ABBYY OCR products.
They seem to have the following characteristics.
* Page breaks are the sole content of a single paragraph on the page.
* The actual text segments are on the layout boxes and anchored to the page.
Especially the latter condition seems to matter. If you use text boxes instead
of layout boxes, you would not see the problem.

Steps to reproduce:
The sample documents are attached.
NG-with-layout-boxes.docx - a document which causes this issue
OK-with-text-boxes.docx - a document without this issue, which is similar to
the NG one but uses text boxes instead of layout boxes
... (lo4).pdf - the results of Export as PDF from LibreOffice which you may see
the issues with
... (lo4).pdf - the results of Save as PDF from Microsoft Office which you see
no issue

Current behavior:
Page breaks are totally lost and all the contents are crammed into a single
page.

Expected behavior:
Page breaks are preserved as they are done so with Microsoft Word.

G'Day Julien,

Thanks for being so diligent. I have checked several files and some
crash and some don't. I can't seem to find a specific pattern. Many of
the files were created with much earlier versions of LibreOffice and
some go back to a time when I was using Open Office, probably a version
of 3. The file I am attaching crashes EVERY time I try to save any
change and it also crashes at random times when I am just advancing
through the presentation as a slideshow.

Thanks again for the help.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69217] When modified Basic code, closing LibreOffice does not ask for confirmation, nor to save modified code

> I don't buy that, you have no clue what change is in the document, just that

No clue what change there is: that is correct, but that is nearly always the
case,
even with changes to the document itself. The only exception I can think of is
Writer documents with "change tracking" enabled. In all other situations, there
is
no clue what changed in the document, whether the changes are in Basic code or
in
the "main" document itself.

Basically, my observation is equating the Basic IDE with a dialog of Writer or
Calc.
E.g. if one opens a Calc window, and then goes to Tools / Options / LibreOffice
Calc /
Calculate and then changes the choice of "Date" from 12/30/1899 to 01/01/1904",
then
press OK. The document just had an "invisible" change. Same if I go to "Format
/ Page"
and change something there. In the mental model I propose, the Basic IDE serves
the
same function as these dialogs.

My preference would be that the nag for application basic should happen
when closing the IDE, because that's the equivalent of closing a document.

>>> If you mean closing the IDE ( when no documents exist ) then it is similar,
>>> if you mean closing the IDE normally then... e.g. consider you have changes
>>> to application basic but then switch the IDE to view some document basic (
>>> and perhaps even have some other documents open ) and *then* close the IDE,
>>> do you nag then

>>> ( and only point to application basic having chaged? or

>> Enumerate and prompt for each.

> As I think about it more IMO it would be more annoying to be prompted to
> save each document that has it's modified state set when dismissing the IDE
> ( if that is really what you are suggesting).

No, sorry, I expressed myself incorrectly. What I meant is that there should
be one nag per non-document Basic module. E.g. if there are unsaved changes in
"My Macros/Standard/Module1" and in "My Macros/Standard/Foo" and in
"bar.odt/Standard/qux", then on closing the Basic IDE, there should be *two*
nags: one for "My Macros/Standard/Module1" and one for "My
Macros/Standard/Foo",
but none for "bar.odt/Standard/qux".

If that is structurally hard/impossible with the way Basic code is organised
in LibreOffice, then one nag per library (attached to "My Macros" or to
"LibreOffice macros")
or even a global nag for "My Macros" (if any pending change) and one global nag
for
"LibreOffice macros" (if any pending change) would be OK.

> Ideally one should be prompted only if basic has been changed

Yes, obviously.

> and also save from the IDE should just save/commit just the basic storage.

OK, this is another proposition, namely

 * on closing the Basic IDE, there is one nag for each (changed module of each
library of each) document with changed Basic, *and* one nag per (changed
module of each library of each) "My Macros" and "LibreOffice macros".

 * in this nag (and when saving from Basic IDE in general), "save" saves only
the Basic code, not the other changes in the document.

This scenario, taken as a whole, makes sense. Dunno if it can be implemented
reasonably easily.

>>> or... should you perhaps nag when you
>>> switch the IDE view from application to document.

>> The Basic IDE has this "weakness" or let's say "difference to the rest
>> of LibreOffice" that it uses a unique window, and thus this window
>> switches one module to the other.

> you mean switching between library container(s) ( be that a document or some
> application area )

There is a three-level structure:

 - level 1: document or "My Macros" or "LibreOffice Macros"
 - level 2: library, e.g. "Standard"
 - level 3: module, e.g. "Module1"

I wrote "level 3", but meant "level 2", yes. Because the IDE shows
the multiple level 3 containers (objects?) as tabs.

>> For better consistency, we could change the IDE to have a window
>> per opened module. By "window", I don't necessarily mean "full top-level

> perhaps I don't understand exactly what you mean, I don't see how it makes a
> difference, you still could be closing the ide with multiple ( subwindows )
> open

Yes, but then you have a more clear mental model. E.g. you can close just one
subwindow, and then... what happens? You get (if unsaved changes) a nag for
just the module opened in that subwindow? Then *clearly* if you close the IDE
you should

Having done some tests I were able to reduce it to the attached file.
Creating a new file without formatting and "//" as text works as expected.

*but* only if I delete the "My Macros / Standard / Module1" Basic module, and
leave the "My Macros / Standard" library container completely empty. I have no
other library container loaded when doing the test. Start LibreOffice straight
on attachment 85544 (I do it from the command-line: "soffice Untitled\ 1.odt").

My guess is that what's happening is that the Basic IDE window has nothing to
display (because no non-empty library container loaded), and it does not expect
that.

Noel & Julien, could you try again with the above additional conditions?

I don't buy that, you have no clue what change is in the document, just that
there is *some* unsaved modification to the document model

As I think about it more IMO it would be more annoying to be prompted to save
each document that has it's modified state set when dismissing the IDE ( if
that is really what you are suggesting).
Ideally one should be prompted only if basic has been changed and also save
from the IDE should just save/commit just the basic storage. I have no idea why
that isn't the way it works or if there are practical reasons why it doesn't
work that way

perhaps I don't understand exactly what you mean, I don't see how it makes a
difference, you still could be closing the ide with multiple ( subwindows )
open

I think the main problem is the state of the basic in the longer living
containers ( e.g. share/user ) that are active for the lifetime of the
application, That is the one the doesn't map easily to raising a nag at a
specific time.

I'm afraid I've lost track now exactly what your preference is, I don't have a
problem with a nag dialog but as yet I don't fully see what nag ( and the
content you would see ) under which circumstances you would be presented with
for various scenarios of application and/or open document(s) with/without
modified basic.

Another possibility in the mean time would be to disable the save button when
an application container is selected in the IDE ( and preserve the behaviour
where changes to basic are sticky for those containers ) at least that would be
consistent

I'm just looking for old bugs. Found this description.
What do you think a "Find and Replace"-button should do in a database? It is a
function, which is used in a writing-program like Writer or a
calculating-program like Calc.
This function isn't implemented yet. I think it wouldn't be implemented,
because you could be a problem with foreign keys in databases.
This bug is a duplicate of
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32506
because this function doesn't exist and bug 32506 is a wish for an enhancement
like this.

Hi, I confirm this bug on a x86 : sometimes, while editing a document, some
formulas disapear and are replaced by "Object x". In the odt file seen as a
zip, the formulas have disapeared too.

Sometimes, it seems to occur just after a copy-cut between formulas became
inoperant (a memory issue ?).

I remember this bug used to exist in old OpenOffice.org versions and has been
solved for a long time (but I have no reference any more, sorry). Someone
talked about a "solution" to limit the problem (on OOo), with modifying graphic
cache memory option, for example on OOo :
http://forum.openoffice.org/fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=23670#p311
(In french, sorry. With 4MB RAM, it seems possible to switch this cache to
128Mo. I will try. If it seems usefull, I will tell it...)

I work on Mint (Ubuntu 13.04 familly) / Mate desktop, LO4.0.2.2 400m0 build 2
from distribution repository (and not LO website). I had the same issue on
Ubuntu 12.10 / classic Gnome (session-fallback). 4MB RAM.
I use Dmaths add-on (www.dmaths.org)

Hope you/we will solve this critical issue ! Thanks a lot to all of you working
on it !!

Start the report with LO 4.0.* - works. With LO 4.1.* it's wrong SQL-code

I could confirm the bug. Have created a little attachment: The data of the
report come from the query
SELECT UPPER ( "Name" ) AS "Uname", "Table1".* FROM "Table1"
This query should be grouped by "Uname". Report-Builder changes the SQL-code to
SELECT UPPER ( "Name" ) AS "Uname", "Table1".* FROM "Table1" ORDER BY
"Table1"."Uname"
and could not find "Table1"."Uname" anywhere.
This bug has been introduced with LO 4.1. First version I could test is 4.1.0.0
beta2 (beta2, because beta1 didn't open any report and crashes immediately ...)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69236] New: Slide transition scrollbar is wrongly calculated

2013-09-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69236

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69236
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Slide transition scrollbar is wrongly calculated
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: tho...@arnhold.org
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 85653
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=85653&action=edit
4.1 working

The scrollbar for the slide transition frame gets wrongly calculated.

I attached three screenshots:

4.1: Shows how it's correctly working
4.2a: Scrollbar is present.
4.2b: Scrollbar is not present anymore, despite the fact that there is more
content hidden.
4.2c: Scrollbar missing on Linux.

Occurs on Windows 7 with Font size set to 125%:

Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: a8865e5df62b5f33aa769d459b9823eb5b110d4b
TinderBox: Win-x86@6-debug, Branch:master, Time: 2013-09-03_14:36:22

Occurs on Linux, too:

Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 960aee493a7bdbda69cbe60049edd9c4cafaab8e

Works:

Windows 7 and Linux:
Version: 4.1.1.2
Build ID: 7e4286b58adc75a14f6d83f53a03b6c11fa2903

I suppose this was introduced with the switch to .ui.

I can reproduce the error in Windows 7 64bit when following the official
instruction steps(Insert > Picture > OpenClipart.org). I was about to uninstall
it but did some searches for the error message and luckily found Richards post
above. In case anyone else coming here missed the last sentence in Richards
post I'll all caps repeat the same point here:
THE OPENCLIPART.ORG EXTENSION WORKS AS LONG AS YOU ACCESS IT BY CLICKING VIEW >
TASK PANE.

So the only fixes needed are:
1. remove the entry from Insert > Picture
2. change the official instruction on
http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/openclipart-org-integration
to "view > task pane".

So you don't use the LO-version directly from LO. There are many differences
between the connection to external databases with the original versions and the
versions, which are specially created for one Linux-system. Remember, that I
could only start the connection to PostgreSQL through ODBC with the LO-version
of my System (OpenSUSE) - not with the original rpm-packages from LO. And only
with this version I can't reproduce what you are writing. I can create a
boolean field with the direct connection and it is shown with ODBC as field fix
1 char.

Did you report this bug also to Ubuntu - the packages are from Ubuntu ...

Reproducible with LO 4.1.1.2 under Ubuntu 13.10 (64-bit). First LO claims that
the file is corrupted, and suggest to repair. If I choose 'Yes' I get the
following message: 'The file '$(ARG1)' could not be repaired and therefore
cannot be opened.' followed by 'General Error' message.

I'm able to open the document with Word 2010 without any issues.

A 'General Error' is not a crash, so I'll edit the summary. Also raising
priority since user can't open his document at all. Also changing version to
oldest known.

@Pwilliamson19: I think that the fact that the color changes is because you
didn't apply it the good way, there is two methods:
- hyperlinks have a style by default, open the Stylist (F11) then under the
character tab, right click Internet link style and modify the color here,
double click to apply the style or remove your manual formatting,
- under Tools > Option > Appearance > Unvisited links > change the color here
and check the option to activate it.
That should fix your issue with the PDF viewers. I'm closing the issue for now,
if that doesn't fix your problem please reopen the bug - Sophie

Summary: .DOCX file crashes LibreOffice on import
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: drich...@largo.com

Offending File

The attached document cannot be opened in LibreOffice, but opens fine with MS
Office. Observations are some prompts about a damaged file and an attempt to
recover the file and then finally a crash with General I/O.

This isn't a case of just one bad file, we received 10 files from one of our
vendors and none of them will open with the same results.

Tested in 4.2 (MASTER) and 4.1.1 and crashes identically.

You could try editing the hyperlink to change the target URL. This is
what I am doing - sometimes it seems to cause the problem.

Hello, I am using Acrobat 11.0.3 as my viewer.

The problem does not happen every time. Sometimes it's OK like in your
screenshot. Other times it comes out in pale blue in the PDF. I'm still
trying to work out if there's any pattern to it.

Ok can you then please send the icons to the developer mailing list with a
statement where they come from and that your modifications are also public
domain/CC0?

That would allow us to use them also for the OOXML export. After you did that I
will push at least a patch that allows the use with the ODF filters.

(Note that I am now running an up-to-date Fedora 19 n a Haswell quad core.)
