Hmm... I don't find where updateString is implemented in the Firebird driver.

Try to break in dbaccess::ORowSet::updateString (file
dbaccess/source/core/api/RowSet.cxx) and dbaccess::OResultSet::updateString
(file dbaccess/source/core/api/resultset.cxx) and step from there.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74169] New: support Apple pages format

2014-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74169

  Priority: low
Bug ID: 74169
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: support Apple pages format
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: pa...@bonedaddy.net
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: filters and storage
   Product: LibreOffice

A Windows user friend of mine recently asked me to convert an Apple Pages
document to word format because their Apple user friend had sent it in a Apple
Pages format, which nothing outside of Apple/Google can view. Luckily the
format includes an embedded PDF file, which worked for the use-case, but it
would be nice if LibreOffice could natively open Apple Pages format and save it
as other formats.

There is a blog post here about the format:

http://xorglog.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-to-edit-mac-os-pages-documents-in.html

Basically this is the list of files inside:

buildVersionHistory.plist
index.xml (document)
QuickLook
QuickLook/Thumbnail.jpg (JPEG rendering of document)
QuickLook/Preview.pdf (PDF rendering of document)
thumbs
thumbs/PageCapThumbV2-1.tiff (weird TIFF image, not document)

There are some samples hidden behind a login (use bugmenot.com) here:

https://www.stocklayouts.com/Templates/Free-Templates/Free-Sample-Apple-iWork-Pages-Template-Design.aspx

Probably some more samples here:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74133] BUGZILLAASSISTANT: Can't select versions older than "4.1.0.4"

2014-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74133

(In reply to comment #4)
> Proceeding with a choice of "older version" returns an error message.

I can't get the BSA to throw an error by selecting 'older version' in either
drop-down. Repro steps?

(In reply to comment #5)
> Ah - the label issue is something slightly different - perhaps for this we
> should change but then that conflicts with FDO policy. Tricky - adding Qubit
> to see his opinion

Short answer: The logic used in the BSA is crude, and does not completely
reproduce the nuances of how we'd like the user-interaction to proceed.

Long answer: We decided that the BSA should only allow users to file bugs
against recent (read: supported/future) versions of LibreOffice, but didn't
have much dev time available to implement the new behavior.

After a while, I sat down and quickly hacked-in an approximate implementation
of the behavior we desired. We haven't had time to refine the interface
further, so (to pick one example) we're still using the same list of versions
in the 'Version the bug appeared' field and the 'Latest known-working version'
field.

One option would be for us just to ask for a single 'version' field. This might
make a lot of sense, especially if we're targeting the BSA at users who might
feel confused/intimidated by the regular Bugzilla interface.

OTOH, many have expressed support for Joel's idea of revamping the BSA so that
it asks a series of questions, one at a time. In such a redesign, it would be
helpful to ask the user to list version(s) in which the bug is present and (if
known) older versions that did not exhibit the symptoms of the bug. (Once we
get our own instance of Bugzilla up and running, we can be even more clever
about keeping track of which versions on which OSes had what behavior(s)).

To sum-up, the BSA interface needs some improvement, but we may need to punt on
those changes until we have more dev time available.

Any interest in hacking on the BSA code? :-)

Thanks for the prompt reply.

The text only option does not work on a normal cell, but does work if you
first format the cell as Text. So it's a two step process; format cell as
Text and then paste special Text Only.

I thought I should raise this as a bug because for any program I would expect
the same behavior for the same data in the same workflow, regardless of data
source.

Hi Mario,

I think you've nailed it.

I had a look as you suggested, and it was set to the bottom date of the list.
Don't know how that happened, but that doesn't really matter.

The important thing is that since I set it back to the top option, all my dates
in Calc are behaving themselves. I've been watching it for a few days now, in a
couple of different spreadsheets, and all seems to be going well.

Thanks very much for your help.

I guess that I now need to mark this item as solved. Any idea how I do this?
(This is my first venture into Bugzilla, or anything like it for that matter)

Cheers

Maurie

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56847] EDITING VIEWING: Can't insert/play various video formats with Impress (Mac OS X)

This is the bug as originally described by this report i.e., the preview does
not display (which is important for identifying an inserted video object). What
follows is just more testing information. Thanks are due to Alex for the
various links and information up thread.

> If I then hit "play" on the bottom left movie control section, the box turns
> white and I hear the sound but do not see any video.

FWIW I got the same result here under MacOS 10.6.8 running LO v4.2.0.3 x86
Build ID: c63c03decdf780d8fb80823950665b782ec9ecd0 using the MP4 from
https://archive.org/details/test-mpeg

$ ffmpeg -i test-mpeg_512kb.mp4

Stream #0.1(und): Audio: aac, 32000 Hz, stereo, s16

I have VLC v2.1.2 installed, which lists "MP4" (MPEG-4 Part 14) as a supported
container format, but I am not clear if this also supports H.264 (MPEG-4 Part
10 / AVC), which the video stream in this sample appears to use. The link in
comment #21 suggests that QuickTime supports H.264 natively, so I would think
this should not be an issue. The MPG version (MPEG-1 video stream) of the same
video displays the same effect:

$ ffmpeg -i test-mpeg.mpg
Input #0, mpeg, from 'test-mpeg.mpg':
  Duration: 00:00:20.96, start: 0.768300, bitrate: 269 kb/s

Stream #0.1[0x1c0]: Audio: mp2, 32000 Hz, stereo, s16, 64 kb/s

The original report indicated the AVI container. Since the AVI links up thread
(comment #25 and comment #29) appear to be dead, there are several short AVIs
(and a few other containers) from standard recording devices using different
codecs over at the Shotwell project:

http://redmine.yorba.org/projects/shotwell/wiki/AVISamples

I have not tested them all, but the following files from that location, which
use a variety of container / codec formats, display the same behaviour:

$ ffmpeg -i 20101130_002.mp4

Export to PDF produces a working image, while printing to PDF or anything else
produces Bug 40863. I can't get this distortion to show up at all now. I'm
going to mark this as resolved based on the previous report of a patch fixing
it so that it no longer blocks 40863.

74088 from Julien
Nabet

Thank you Gwendoline for your feedback.

Considering the stacktrace, it looks like a dup of fdo#54923 put in See Also.
However this tracker could be solved from 4.1.2 according to this:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54923#c46

For the test, could you rename your LibreOffice directory Profile (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Mac_OS_X) and give it a new
try?
The goal of this test is to detect problems which could be due to some
customizations/extensions not compatible anymore with last LibreOffice version.

If you still reproduce the problem, could you indicate if you use LazyMouse? If
yes, could you disable for the test and give it a try?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73277] Cell's indent in RTL

2014-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73277

You seem to have some problem (only) in cell A3; some kind of “special” text
alignment (e.g. vertical text orientation) or some additional format.

For the rest of your cells, the text *direction* has no influence, nor the
language.

This is clearly seen in your mp4 attachment #92940 in comment #5 . Only the
text *alignment* setting (to right-aligned) interacts with the indentation from
right to left.

I have tested (again). I don't see a bug here.

Dear Julien,

I installed the up to date software, and got my son to rename the user profile.
I then used the new software to edit files I had made with manual entry of
text and all was well. Then I relabelled a copy of that text "test" and
started editing using dictation and it crashed repeatedly, as before. I attach
the report. Thank you. I

Inkscape seems to have two reasonable Adobe Illustrator import filters:

"Adobe Illustrator 8.0 and older (*.ai)"

Inkscape is GPL-licensed, so maybe some parts of the filters can be re-used for
LibreOffice. Could they?

Hello,

In a text field with data type VARCHAR the content is truncated to 17
characters after saving the table.
For example : if "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz" (without ") is entered in a text
field with VARCHAr (100), after saving the field contains "abcdefghijklmnopq"

The problem does not occur with a text field with data type CHAR.

With LibO 4.2.0.3 on Win7:
- In Impress, when clicking on text with different color, the actual color of
the icon updates
- In Calc, when clicking on text with different color, the actual color of the
icon doesn't updates
- In Word, I got once a failure : when clicking on the icon (not in the
drop-down panel), I manage to get the last colour used, not the one of the
icon... but I didn'y reproduced...

What is OK however is the naming of 99 colors + Automatic, consistent between
the color panel (99+1 colored squares) and the dropdown menus in property
windows (100 named values). So you don't have to remember coordinates, just a
name. Moreover, a name could be a good practice when designing docs and
slideshows.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74156] New: Sidebar adds complexity to UI

2014-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74156

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 74156
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Sidebar adds complexity to UI
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: maz...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

The sidebar brings yet another UI element to look through for commands, which
adds unnecessary complexity to the UI. Please read through the usability
problems Microsoft found with its Office task pane at
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jensenh/archive/2006/04/03/567261.aspx and how having a
single UI element as a starting point fixed it at
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jensenh/archive/2005/10/11/479586.aspx. In our case,
that starting point is the toolbar.

The sidebar should be split into individual panels (e.g. Properties, Formulas,
Custom Animation, Slide Transition, etc.), with buttons for launching them
added to the relevant toolbars if they are not already there as follows:
* Buttons for Properties should replace the buttons for the relevant formatting
dialogs in contextual toolbars.
* Buttons for "Master Pages", "Custom Animation", and "Slide Transition" should
be added to the Presentation toolbar.
* The Function Wizard button in Calc's Formula Bar should be linked to the
"Functions" pane.
* Buttons for the Gallery, Styles, and the Navigator are already in toolbars
[1].

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73940] Page header odd/even first page different problem

2014-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73940

Firstly, we need to speak "specification".

I compared your book with other, and I found the following :
- OK for chapter titles forced in an odd (= right) page number,
- OK for a page number centered in the footer of such odd pages,
- OK for second and third pages of a chapter being mirrored (a left/even page
followed by an right/odd page), and so on.

But here is the difference I noticed : it happens on the reminder of the book
title :
- the books I checked have the whole book title on left/even page header ;
generally a chapter title on the right/odd page header ;
- on your book, the book title is split between left and right headers ; how do
you manage the case where the last non-empty page of a chapter is a left/even
one? Will the title be cut by its middle (only "Ephesians—Recovering the
Vision") because the mirrored page is the new chapter title?

Now A agree to speak "LibO technology" :
- This case remember me bug 69065; this one is marked as fixed for Lib0 4.2,
- when I load your doc under LibO 4.2.0.3, I see the errors you mentionned, but
not at the same pages : something has effectively changed between 4.1 and 4.2,
- I have the error you mentionned, on pages 14, 22,
- I found left/even first chapter pages (26, 46, 54

testcase to do mail merging from basic

the OutputURL member of the MailMerge service controls the directory in which
the files creted by a mailmerge action from basic will be placed.

the behaviour of this is buggy in 4.2, if I specify a OutputURL being
'file:///home/me/test' the file created by the merging must be something like:
/home/me/test/resultmerging0.odt

instead of that I obtain a file called:
/home/me/testresultmerging0.odt

this bug is introduced in 4.2 previous versions work ok

I add a testcase, edit the code to change the destination folder (Const
theFolder) and place the two files of the testcase in it

Nope, not what I was getting at.
I meant seeing at a glance what the results are, not selecting all of them.
(For example, see the way Chromium shows search results.)

My opinion :
- "none ... good appearance" : matter of personnal taste...
- "save user's favourite table scheme (as template)" : should be with a "table
style" (same for layout : there should become a slide layout style) : major
changes
- for all the remaining, I agree with the reporter. No feature to personalize a

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61991] “Crop Image” toolbar command for conveniently crop images isn’t available in Writer and Calc

2014-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61991

[Because I created issue 74099 (marked as a duplicate of this bug) and because
of Bjorn's comment about "writing a short rationale", I decided to copy my
statement from issue 74099 below. Thanks to Tomaz for noticing the
duplication. -- Tim]

I have long found that when I need to print something from the computer screen,
the easiest way to do it was to hit PrintScreen, then paste it into an Excel
spreadsheet, then crop and resize it till I have what I want. For instance, I
frequently want to crop & overlay two Google Maps screenshots so they fit
together. Or save an entire year of cropped screenshots of payroll tax
confirmation screens on the same spreadsheet page. (For me, Excel does these
things far more easily than Word or Paint.)

For years I've occasionally tried the same thing using first OpenOffice Calc
3.x and now LibreOffice 4.0.x, and found that it is much more difficult. Calc
brings up a window with measurements you can change, and its own small snapshot
of the graphic that shows where you are moving the borders to. It works, but
it is hard to get it just right. You cannot see it well, and must repeatedly
invoke the tool, change the measurements, and quit the tool to see what you've
really got. It takes several iterations to get it where you want it.

Excel's cropping tool (at least as far back as Excel 97) allows the mouse to
grab the handles on the graphic's edges and drag them where you want them,
which is far easier both to see and to do.

PLEASE add a mouse tool that can be used directly on the image in the
spreadsheet. The cropping icon could still bring up the window (for those who
prefer it), and then a button in that window could replace the window with the
mouse tool.

Thanks,
Tim

LibO 4.2.0.3 on Win7 : I confirm the behaviour, but I wouldn't qualify it
neither Bug nor desirable Enhancement. Let me explain :
- the specification is simple here : "selected components are grouped in a
list"; IMHO to be kept as simple,
- number of people use a blank line to separate paragraphs (or list items),
forgetting that it is a full-featured component. The right feature should
rather be to use paragraph spacing.

Hi Gerco,

the same moment you declared bug 68797 duplicate to this I added a minimal
testcase there.

Perhaps this testcase is usefull for you in this situation too.

I'am sure that the information from content.xml in the documents structure is
not read in carefully and _stored_wrong_ if you save the document.

Destroying content is a high priority bug for me.

If you need more info please give me a feedback.

Thanks in advance!

Bernhard

@c.cavada: Does it happen even if you click on the drop-down button of the
'paste' button and choose 'unformatted text'?

@Roczek: Why do you think that it's a duplicate of Bug 66217? While both are
about the clipboard handling (and I guess both are about handling of the HTML
clipboard format), but it might be a completely different problem?

reading previous comment it's plausible that this commit would change it

but just from one serif font to a different one, i.e. before that commit
the fonts in PDF and LO were different already:

week or so something was changed that seems to have solved this issue. My
current compile is build ID: f571104ef38ba9f7f6073e22c2374add7aa73887 from
sources I got on 1/27. The last time I tried it I think was about a week or so
ago and it was still freezing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68797] FILEOPEN lost position of lines anchored to cell

2014-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68797

Yes, its _very_ reproducible with newer|recent versions of libreoffice.

I attach two minimal files showing the problem.
- lines_1.ods : lines anchored to page,
- lines_21.ods: same as line_1.ods, but lines are anchored to cell, stored
- lines_22.ods: reopened lines_21.ods, seeing lines moved, stored as
lines_22.ods without any change.

Hints for bug hunters:
I use
xmllint --format content.xml > content_f.xml
to have something compareable by diff.

lines_21.ods->content_f.xml differs from line_22.ods->content_f.xml (line-no
50)

This means to me that while parsing the input something is not read / forgotten
to apply to the internal representation.

Because this bug renders every (even old) document touched useless I think this
bug should be considered a very grave one.

Hopefully it will be an easy fix :-) with the help given above.

Thanks!

Bernhard

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67426] Open/hide new LibreOffice 4.1 sidebar with mouseover event.

2014-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67426

If you remember, we used to have controls that appeared on mouse-over, such as
in the header/footer or in the slide pane. This caused a lot of accidental
misclicks and thus went against our "ux-error-prevention" principle [1], so,
for the same reasons, an on-hover sidebar is a no-go, I'm afraid.
