[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77291] IDE: No way to break out of repeated syntax errors
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77291 --- Comment #2 from Noel Power nopo...@novell.com --- This has been the unfortunately the situation as long as I remember (happens under certain circumstances) it sounds like an enhancement to me if the errors involved ( and I did not check ) are indeed compile time errors, in that case it should in theory be possible to date/time check the source to limit the errors issues for a single invocation. However there are a couple of things to note: a) what sounds like a compile error may not be, the basic compiler is so crummy that it does resolve many things on the fly ( e.g at run time ) and as you might imagine if the error is generated in the 'execute' cycle distinguishing such an error from a normal 'run-time' error may be incredibly difficult (if not impossible) b) I see that formulas are mentioned so I presume that a macro is being invoked from a cell function ( or the cell function is a macro), in this case the execution is outside the control of basic ( e.g. the macro is fired from calc ) calc can and does decide to fire macros wrt to formulas for its own reasons (usually to do with dependency recalculations) and sometimes IIRC even when redrawing the document ( possibly that is a separate error itself ) so it may be the number of errors might be reduced but apparent duplicated errors may not be eliminated entirely c) there are still some nasty situation where macros bound to ui events can have some horror effects, macro bound to focus events come to mind, you can ( and I have unfortunately managed to do this ) set up a scenario where dismissing the error dialog triggers the macro which triggers the error dialog again ( and repeat forever ) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76264 --- Comment #2 from cslee-libreoff...@cybericom.co.uk --- (In reply to comment #1) Hello cslee, *, what would be a difference with the File – Versions... dialog? You can choose to Save a new version or enable Always save a version on closing. But maybe I just do not understand enough English to follow your description ... :( Sorry for the inconvenience Thomas. No inconvenience, I have worked in many (6 organisations and many departments) where documents are named according to a version of the document as it is released either for review or final acceptance. In order to manage this the following elements are often used: 1. File name has a version umber in it 2. Title page has version in it 3. Footer has version in it So what I am after is a way to do a few things in one easy step. During a save As operation I would like to allow an incrementation of the version of the documet, this would need to do the following based on the version numbers adjusted in the Save As dialog: 1. Adjust the file name so the vern.n section is updated to the new numbers e.g. filenme-ver1.1.odt 2. Update the document field/varible named DocVersion to the same value 3. Update all the fields in the document that use that variable to the new value. Otherwise you get a situation that I have seen a lot over the years where the file name version and the version numbers in the document are all out of sync. Obviously adding a true document version (same as using the version dialog) at the same time might also be worth including or optional. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77430 Priority: medium Bug ID: 77430 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: EDITING: Text and other Objects inserted in Charts go completely lost Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Windows (All) Reporter: silva...@katamail.com Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA PossibleRegression Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.2.2.1 release Component: Chart Product: LibreOffice Problem description: Then Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a spreadsheet, type a few numbers and create a chart with them. 2. Create and add a personalized text object in the chart, e.g. a description or any other comment you want to show somewhere in the chart and is not an automatic chart object like title or axis label. Alternatively, insert a graphic object like a rectangle. 3. Save the file and reopen it: the text or other object object is lost, and there seems to be no way to recover it. Current behavior: This happens also when you open a file created with a previous version: I had a paper with 50 charts inserted, edited with no problem until 4.1.5, all with description inserted as text objects, now I open it with 4.2.2.1 and ALL of them are lost. All charts are shown, but none of them has the inserted text objects anymore. Expected behavior: All objects inserted in a chart to personalize it should be saved as before. To avoid MASSIVE DATA LOSS I now cannot edit the file anymore. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59901] UI: Name of each language in target language
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59901 Eike Rathke er...@redhat.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||er...@redhat.com --- Comment #8 from Eike Rathke er...@redhat.com --- While having language names in their native language is fine for interfaces where a user only wants to pick his/her own language, it is not desirable for interfaces where several languages can be chosen for different purposes that are not native to the user. Let me explain some disadvantages: * a document containing language attribution the user doesn't know the native name of, s/he will see a meaningless entry in the language list * seeing the language list, a user will not know what languages are offered except those s/he can somehow deduce * wanting to prepare a document with different locale settings (e.g. using different currencies or formatting) the user would have to know the native names * a developer adding a language to the language listbox would have to know that name in the native language; yes, CLDR in the mean time provides native names of most frequently used languages, but not for the not so frequently used that now are occasionally requested; s/he'd have to take the word of the one requesting that language * for developers this gets even more cumbersome for languages that can be written in different scripts, or scripts the developer doesn't know at all; would you know how to correctly write Arabic and enter it on your native keyboard? Or Mongolian in the Mongolian script? You'd have to rely on copypaste and pray that your editor handles all Unicode characters, RTL writing direction and so forth. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77317] EDITING: ' prepended when applying Number or Scientific format to Text formatted cell with a number in it
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77317 --- Comment #7 from Michael Doube mich...@doube.net --- Dear Eike, m.a.risov and Christopher, Thanks for taking your time with this. As a programmer concerned about user experience (which sometimes I get to practise, when not battling with spreadsheets), the userland behaviour is pretty weird. Why is there an apostrophe in the input line and not in the cell? That breaks all my assumptions about the relationship between the input line and the cell. For example, if I enter a ' into the input line, when a Text formatted cell is selected, I get a ' in the cell. Suddenly making a ' appear in the input line without it being in the cell is strange. Current behaviour seems like a cheap hack to get out of doing some actual conversion logic and user interaction. e.g. 1. Cell chars are all numerals, looks like an integer, no problem - integer 2. Cell chars might look like a decimal number maybe with a , or a . or an E: ask the user what to do (locale-dependent sensible default required) 3. Function text is included (e.g. =, SUM(A1:A10), etc.) if it parses, - no problem 4. Something else is there, random text, whatever. Then just apply number format to the cell and behave as though the user typed the same string of chars into the cell. I hope that you can see that these solutions are, from a user perspective, somewhat more appealing than the current behaviour which is something like: prepend a ', but only display it in the input line and not in the cell. Don't warn the user that this has happened because of an unwillingness to change the underlying datatype of the cell. Also don't tell them that they have to apply an obscure, terse regex to get rid of the ' and make the data how they want it: let them try to find it on the wiki (assumes motivation and a working internet connection). Allow them to waste their time working out how to reenter their data / figure out the correct combination of copy-paste options. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

However, on a full sized complex spreadsheet, such changes now take minutes (about 2 minutes 10 seconds on one test) on a fairly quick machine (8 * 2.5GHz) running ubuntu 13.10. I thought it had crashed/locked-up, but it did complete eventually. One CPU was 100% for the whole time. I strongly suggest an item in the release notes indicating that some may find such changes very much slower than before in complex sheets. I can't supply a demo for this because on a small sheet without my data the performance is OK. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67862 --- Comment #13 from e_...@gmx.de --- The Catalogue is obsolete since the support of Unicode. It's UI is not intuitive changing or adding symbols is a nuisance. Greek Letters should be formatted like Variables, Numbers… (btw the Dialog FormatFonts… is bad too). Codes like infinity or %alpha are superfluous, just insert Unicode Symbol. If one likes to type symbols use Auto-Correction and an InsertSymbol dialog with integrated [Add Auto-Correction]. Or via rightclick in sidebarAdd code/auto-correction. What is missing too is a tooltip in the sidebar if a code/an auto-correction is assigned. Unfortunately Math was neglected in the past and looks like a relic at least a decade old. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
