That said, what Joren described in Comment 1 is a regression, indeed, though
the original bug report didn't say that.

Yeah, sorry... Anyway, what Joren said was exactly what I meant (but failed to
explicate) in the original report.

When loading table in librewriter (3.5.7.2) all I get is a table full of
shading. I cannot see gridlines and cannot manipulate columns/rows to my needs.
writing in the table is invisible. I've tried removing via
toolsoptionslibreofficeappearance and uncheck index and table shadings but
to no avail. Hopefully, there is a simple answer to this issue and thanks in

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78924] UI: Regression: toolbars have different heights

2014-05-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon

sergio.calleg...@gmail.com changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|RESOLVED|UNCONFIRMED
 Resolution|WORKSFORME |---

--- Comment #3 from sergio.calleg...@gmail.com ---
Actually, I am on 4.2.4.2. In the bug report I filled in the first version of
LibO in which the bug appeared.

Tested with LibO from libreoffice.org to make sure it was not due to ubuntu
build.

As mentioned, bug appearance depends on the combination of DPI and icon size
you use, which is why you may not be able to see it. The point is that LibO 4.1
never showed this issue at any DPI and icon size and does not show the issue
when run on the same machine, with the same config.

I am making the bug visible with a couple of screenshots. The attached picture
is a montage of two screenshots made with the print screen functionality.
Montage is done with imagemagick to assure that the images are aligned to the
pixel. Montage is then imported into an image editor itself, in order to add a
couple of horizontal and vertical red lines that help noticing the skew in the
drawing canvas positioning due to the different toolbar height.

Specifically, screenshot A is taken with line and filling toolbar, screenshot B
after selecting text in order to make the text formatting toolbar substitute
the line toolbar and filling. Screenshots A and B are then mounted as

A B
B

This lets both the horizontal and the vertical alignments be checked. Red
reference lines are placed around the toolbar and at the edges of the letter
'T' in the drawing canvas.

As evident, the text formatting toolbar is two pixels taller than the line and
formatting toolbar. As a result, when the text is selected and the text
formatting toolbar appears, the text itself jumps down two pixels, when text is
deselected, the text jumps back up two pixels.

Now, two pixels may seem like nothing. But when you are trying to do precision
aliments and you frequently alternate text and non text selections, having the
image moving up and down even by two pixels is an issue that makes you go back
to LibO 4.1 immediately, regardless of the other advantages that LibO 4.2 may
have.

What do we all do who need to use Japanese (or similar?)?

Or is there a secret solution that is not mentioned in the language options

open
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: gsm...@holdenlandmark.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

We have a large spreadsheet with multiple tabs that we must search for terms to
be used in market studies. In version 4.2.3.3, after selecting all tabs and
pressing CTRL-H, we could search the entire spreadsheet for a keyword by
pressing Find All. The results would display in a separate window that we could
then click on a result and be taken directly to the sheet and cell where the
result was located. This made it VERY easy to locate results over multiple tabs
and navigate to the specific data.

In 4.2.4.2, the results window does not appear. This also occurs in older
versions. In 4.2.4.2, the cells in the current sheet matching the search terms
are highlighted in blue, but no window of results and it's unclear if the
search term was found on any other tabs in the spreadsheet.

For now, we are uninstalling 4.2.4.2 and going back to 4.2.3.3. When this
feature works, it's EXTREMELY valuable under deadline.

Thanks!

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68117

--- Comment #16 from Mark C mark.coo...@gmail.com ---
Tested again on
Windows
LO 4.2.3.3

Centering is kept in empty cells in columns formatted with 'Centre'
Bold is kept in empty cells in columns formatted with 'Bold'
Boolean formatting seems to be lost:
It shows up as 1 and 0, but the format is 'General' and there is a formula in
place =True() or =False()
All empty cells have lost their type and are now 'General'.

Just for fun I opened the xlsx in MS Office 2010. The Centred cells' formatting
was preserved. The Bold was lost, even in populated cells.
The Boolean was set to 'Custom' and has a TRUE,FALSE formatting applied.
There doesn't seem to be a 'Boolean' type in Excel 2010.
I've attached a screenshot of the Excel formatting dialog.

In this one I have recorrected the second header but you can see the
justification and forced new page

Both working from an existing template migrated from MS Word, and in new docs,
instead of a first page header and main header, which appear onscreen when
first put in, the doc takes the main header out of page 2 and puts in the first
page header (subsequent pages have main header). Sometimes this is while
working on the document (first session of creating), sometimes when opening a
saved document that had apparently saved correctly.

Associated with this is sometimes that the paragraph that goes over the page
break of the first page is justified left (my default setting is always fully
justified), the rest of the text remains fully justified. Sometimes but not
always, the doc opens with one or more new pages, e.g. the para after the first
page break appears on page 3 and not page 2, sometimes multiple new pages.
this happens in docs on A4 size and A5 size pages.

I think I have always managed to reset the document long enough to print out a
correct version, but it sometimes takes several tries.

But it shouldn't silently lose data either.
Indeed, but *until* it's got implemented, we could catch that early (and

About warning the user: Does adding the 'ALIEN' flag, and thus triggering the

Ok, I found an annoying workaround that is impractical for companies using (or
trying to use( Libreoffice as their primary Office platform.

File Print Options

Then check the box Use only paper size from printer preferences

The problem is I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this pref to
'stick'.

Guess I need to go open a new bug for that one too...

no, it will not affect it.

I couldn't reproduce the problem with a fresh build, but with the build the

build...

Beta1 will run on Windows XP, (but java won't work, so there are some
restrictions - but it should not crash, esp. not with the Py_Initialize: can't
initialize sys standard streams message)

I'll make sure to double-check before uploading the build.

--- Comment #2 from Roberto Fontes robertofontescam...@gmail.com ---
Problem Description

When inserting more then one rows before a row containing the sum function, the
sum function automatically includes the number of rows inserted in the range to
be added in the function.

Steps to Produce

1. I position the cursor on cell A5, I select three lines from this line (5)
down, ie, lines 5, 6 and 7.

2. A6 cell contains the following arguments: SUM(A7:A10)

3. I click with the right mouse button on the selected range and choose the
option insert - entire line or insert rows above.

4. Three lines were inserted blank, the contents of lines 5,6 and 7 were
automatically to lines 8, 9 and 10 respectively.

5. The A9 cell went on to inform the following error: ERROR:522.

6. When you click on the A9 cell, the argument of the SUM function
automatically changed to SUM(A7: A13).

Current behavior:

SUM(A7:A13)

Expected behavior:

SUM(A10:A13)

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.2.4.2 release

Sorry for my english. I speak very little English. I am a Brazilian citizen and

--- Comment #1 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
This is virtually impossible for anyone to deal with as the software is closed
source and no one else that I've spoken with has ever used it. Options:

#1 - find open source software that has the same problem with LibreOffice and
then report a new bug.

#2 - report a bug to your software vendor

#3 - attain support through a private company for TDF (there are quite a few
out there, I don't want to recommend a single one but if you google around
there are some that exist).

Closing as NOTOURBUG as there is no other software that demonstrates the same
problem (that I'm aware of) so it's likely unique to that closed source
software and therefore NOTOURBUG.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79023] New: ScCompiler slowness ...

2014-05-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon

   Summary: ScCompiler slowness ...
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified

  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com

Status: NEW

 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

It seems the ScCompiler burns 7% of load-time of my (large - 227bn
pseudo-cycles) of startup/load time inside 'IsValue'.

I attach a photo of the fun in action =)

Apart from the slow 'uppercase' call (did ScCompiler:: already uppercase the
string - duplicating it in the process ?) - we seem have an:

'IsNumber' function that spends most of its time in:

SvNumberFormatter::IsNumberFormat

which seems to do an extraordinary amount of hard work =) is that truly
necessary for parsing formulae from the file-format rather than exotic user
inputs ? =)

ie. would some:

if (FormulaGrammar::isODFF( eGrammar ))

followed by is it a flat integer work nicely there ? ;-)

Thoughts appreciated =)

I suspect the real win here comes from not parsing the formulae at all, but
printing and comparing them down the column to catch long repeated columns full
of ~identical formulae =) [ in the XLSX import this gave a very significant win
]

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79025] New: LibreOffice Writer/Calc remains in background when opening a document using the Windows Explorer

2014-05-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79025

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 79025
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: LibreOffice Writer/Calc remains in background when
opening a document using the Windows Explorer
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: albrecht.muel...@astrail.de
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

Steps to reproduce:
Open Windows Exporer. Navigate to same directory containing .ods or .odt files.
Double Click at such a file.
Current behavior:
It happens quite often that LibreOffice opens the document, but the Explorer
window remains on top of the document. Clicking into visible parts (execpt into
the caption bar) of LibreOffice does not bring the LibreOffice in the
foreground.
Expected behavior:
Without any additional action LibreOffice should show the opened document in
the foreground. Clicking into the document should bring it to the foreground
too. Maybe the two things are related: After the open document has been
brought to the foreground at least once, the clicking into the document works
as expectet, i.e. brings the document to the foreground. So if LibreOffice
would show the document in the foreground when it is opened then the second
problem becomes irrelevant.

Setting new -- enhancement.

Likely that this will be picked up quickly in the FOSS world, so LibreOffice
will have to handle content using the font across its components. In the scheme
of things the additional size will be off set by compatibility. So I'd say add
it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79026] New: Content of memo fields in MS Access tables get truncated in LibreOffice Base forms.

2014-05-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79026

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 79026
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Content of memo fields in MS Access tables get
truncated in LibreOffice Base forms.
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: albrecht.muel...@astrail.de
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Database
   Product: LibreOffice

Steps to reproduce:

Create a new database that refers to some MS Access database. This database
should contain a table with a memo-field, i.e. a column where you can enter
text which can contain much more than 255 characters. There should be entries
containing more than 255 characters. Using the form assistent create a form to
access this table. I simply created a form containing all fields of the table.
Save the form an open it. Navigate to some record whose memo field contains
more than 255 characters.

Current behavior:

The content of the memo field is truncated to about 255 characters. This seems
to depend of the wrap around feature of the control showing the memo field. If
no wrap around is selected the content is truncated to less than 255
characters. Seems to be truncated to 255 characters, and then the CR/LF
sequences are deleted.

Due to the amount of data a memo fields can contain this behavior can cause
substantial loss of data! It is especially dangerous as the form seems to
detect that the content of the control is not the same as the corresponding
content in the table and therefore offers to store the content despite the fact
that the user did not change it.

The table view shows the full content of the memo field. Therefore the problems
seems to be related to the form.

Expected behavior:

The control should show the complete content of the memo field (more than 255
characters).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79027] New: Hypenation does not work in Calc cells.

2014-05-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79027

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 79027
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Hypenation does not work in Calc cells.
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: albrecht.muel...@astrail.de
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Steps to reproduce:

Enter some text into some cell in a calc document. This text should be so long
that it does not fit into the cell and therefore needs word wrap and
hyphenation. In the dialog box format cells(?) (German: Zellen
formatieren), tab justification (German: Ausrichtung) check wordwrap(?)
(German: Automatischer Zeilenumbruch) and hyphenation(?) (German:
Silbentrennung aktiv).

Current behavior:

The hyphenation checkbox seem to have no effect. Words that do not fit into the
cell are split at the border of the cell and continued in the next line. No
hyphen appears and the word is split at arbitrary locations.

Expected behavior:

If the hypenation checkbox is on then calc should split the word a correct
hyphenation positions and add a hyphen. If for some reason hyphenation is not
possible (e.g. no hyphenation tool is available) it should not be possible to
activate the checkbox. Trying to activate hyphenation should result in some
message that explains why hyphenation is not possible.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79028] New: UI: XY diagrams forgets axis settings

2014-05-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79028

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 79028
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: UI: XY diagrams forgets axis settings
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: albrecht.muel...@astrail.de
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Steps to reproduce:

Open Calc with a new document. Format two colums with format [HH]:MM. This
format interprets numbers as hours, where 1 corresponds to 24:00, 2 gives
48:00 and so on. Enter some data. Create a XY diagram that displays these
data. Try to format the Y axis of the diagram: Uncheck all automatic scaling
options. Set the main interval (?) (German: Hauptintervall) to some value
other than 24:00:00 (i.e. the value given by the automatic setting). Click
OK to save the settings. The Y axis of the diagram shows the marks as
specified. Open the dialog box to format the Y axis again.

Current behavior:

The dialog box shows 24:00:00 as main increment, clicking OK changes the
settings of the Y axis accordingly.
Formatting the X axis shows the same problem.

Expected behavior:

The main increment should show the same value as before, and clicking OK
without doing any changes should not change the diagram.
