[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79811] FILESAVE: Make Hybrid PDF just another format for Save commands instead of Export.
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79811 David Tardon changed: What|Removed |Added CC||dtar...@redhat.com --- Comment #2 from David Tardon --- (In reply to comment #0) > Problem description: > > Hybrid PDF is a great file format that would solve a lot of issues for > offices sending documents to others. No, it is not. It is just a workaround to make PDF suck less. For interoperability, we have this OASIS standard called ODF. > However, it's use is difficult to > implant as an habit for workers by being an export option instead of a save > option. It is not difficult at all. All one needs is to click on the "Export to PDF" icon on toolbar. > > My proposal is that Hybrid PDF is offered as yet another document format to > the Save command and even allowing making it default. I strongly disagree. > > From a formal point of view, since an Hybrid PDF file can be opened in > LibreOffice Writer exactly the same as an ODT file, it shouldn't belong to > the export option. Wrong. A hybrid PDF is still a PDF. Also, there is _no way_ to differentiate a hybrid PDF from normal PDF except opening it, So these files would not be listed in open dialog. > > Current behavior: > The user needs to go through the process of exporting and avoiding the > standard saving mechanisms, which is odd and cumbersome and makes it hard > for it to become a desirable habit. It is no more cumbersome than normal save. > > Expected behavior: > Hybrid PDF should be like any other document format, working on every > Save/Save As/Save a Copy/etc. commands. I can already imagine uninformed users trying to use export to PDF instead of normal save in other applications, "because it works in LibreOffice", and losing their work... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

We are going to need specifics of the proposal. For example, as the native ODF standards (on which the LibreOffice documents are based and processed) provide no interoperability with PDF, is there a technical description or API for this "Hybrid PDF" format? How would its implementation compare with overdue support for PDF standards--ISO 32000-1 for PDF 1.7, or of ISO 14289-1 for PDF/UA? Correct filtered Cairo project based "print" export to PDF formats and filtered import into ODF as ODG is the existing architecture. How would document fidelity be assured on round trips into and out of this "Hybrid PDF" format? Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: All Reporter: asicofa...@gmail.com Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.2.4.2 release Component: Writer Product: LibreOffice Problem description: Hybrid PDF is a great file format that would solve a lot of issues for offices sending documents to others. However, it's use is difficult to implant as an habit for workers by being an export option instead of a save option. My proposal is that Hybrid PDF is offered as yet another document format to the Save command and even allowing making it default. >From a formal point of view, since an Hybrid PDF file can be opened in LibreOffice Writer exactly the same as an ODT file, it shouldn't belong to the export option. Current behavior: The user needs to go through the process of exporting and avoiding the standard saving mechanisms, which is odd and cumbersome and makes it hard for it to become a desirable habit. I'm playing with RTF-import part and it seems there is something wrong in DomainMaper (writerfilter/source/dmapper/DomainMapper.cxx), it does not show highlighting in document - see NS_ooxml::LN_EG_RPrBase_highlight at http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/writerfilter/source/dmapper/DomainMapper.cxx#1336 . I installed KDevelop, configured source code for debugging but I have no idea how to debug this. It looks so complicated. While working on this bug I found previous bug 61909 and what is interesting - the test file ( http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/plain/sw/qa/extras/rtfimport/data/fdo61909.rtf ) have white highlight in RTF-markup, so highlight is invisible ( \highlight11 is white=rgb(255,255,255) ). I modified it (used all colors from color table, see fdo61909_mod.rtf) - all paragraphs have no highlight. I also compliled old libreoffice (commit http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=65f42760736d656b4999aa8830cb4f44f6d4e718&h=libreoffice-4-0 , which is related to bug 61909) and there is no higlight too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Don't know where the message come from (HSQLDB or internal dialog?). So I set this bug to new and as an ask for an enhancement (better messages ...). It's the same behavior on all systems - get the same with Linux rpm. What do you want to get with "truncate table toolbar"? In the internal HSQLDB (1.8!) there is a function TRUNCATE. TRUNCATE(2.37456,2) = 2.37 The code you put in the query-editor isn't a valid query for the internal HSQLDB and any other database. The query-editor does allow only queries. And so the editor produces an error-message, which seems to be the last in a circle of informations. Says only: I'm missing a possible end of a query. Better would be: The command isn't a query - it doesn't start with SELECT. The code would work together, for example, MySQL, when you put it to Tools → SQL. After exiting from the 'Find & Replace' dialog, everything has become slow because all of the replaced cells are being selected, and clicking on any other cell will result in the UI being accessible again. So retesting the original file and clicking in the cancel button area right after clicking 'Replace All' shows the replacing took 4.5 minutes, and deselecting all the selected rows after exiting the dialog takes ~3 minutes. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79780] Icons not accessible after opening properties dialog in template manager
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79780 V Stuart Foote changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW CC||andr...@ahunt.org, ||efeyala...@gmail.com, ||ke...@collabora.com, ||vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #3 from V Stuart Foote --- On Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit (en-US) with Version: 4.3.0.0.beta2 Build ID: a06aa316117a6ff0f05c697c82831c227812d810 There are subtle differences between keyboard only and mouse driven navigation of Template Manager UI. This is likely a GTK UI focus issue in navigating the Thumbnail view panels of Template Manager. Andrzej had to tweak things to make the keyboard navigation correct. See bug 73766. When working only with keyboard, the Close button for the Properties dialog correctly returns focus to the Horizontal menu (Open, Edit, Properties, ...) positioning to the Open action. But it looks like there now is a loss of parent relation following close of the template's Properties dialog when using mouse to navigate GUI. Not clear where focus goes at that point. Simple work around is for an extra mouse click on the thumbnail view panel (but not on a thumbnail) -- which returns focus to the thumbnail view panel. Mouse over focus, and keyboard navigation is restored to reasonable. Efe has the Template Manager as his 2014 GSOC project, maybe he and Kendy can poke at it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79483] unable to close scan window after the scan complete
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79483 --- Comment #6 from V Stuart Foote --- Created attachment 100673 --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=100673&action=edit LibreOffcie 4.2.3.3 Writer Insert -> Image -> Scan -> Select Source Calling this Works for Me, with caveat that TWAIN vs. WIA could be an issue for folks working on MS Windows. On Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit (en-US)with Version: 4.2.3.3 Build ID: 6c3586f855673fa6a1576797f575b31ac6fa0ba3 Screen clip attached is the correct Insert Image from Scanner, which is a two step process. 1. Select the Scanner source in Writer from Insert -> Image -> Scan -> Select Source; a pop-up dialog will show whit a listing of scanner devices *detected* with TWAIN drivers that LibreOffice requires. Select the scanner, in my case a VueScan driven HP Photoshop 3100. Note: if no Scanners are presented, correct TWAIN (or WIA) driven access to the scanner is not configured. 2. With scanner selected, start a scan acquisition with the "Request" action button, i.e. the Insert -> Image -> Scan -> Request In my case, TWAIN scan control is passed out of LibreOffice and over to VueScan for actual control of the scanner. Where I do a preview scan, Image rotation and cliping, image format, and make final scan at resolution. With VueScan, I also must complete the scan and release the result by selecting "Last Page". Note that ALL of this is external to LibreOffice which will *block* waiting for the input and release. When image is returned from scanner it is inserted anchored at cursor position and scaled to fit within current document margins. @artarnold1954, can you describe the driver type (WIA or TWAIN) and supporting software for your chosen scanner? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
