Btw if you talked about "Find All" indeed something strange with that.

Please provide test case and steps to reproduce your problem. Then change
status back to UNCONFIRMED

Sorry I don't understand the command you're using. But it can't reproduce using
standard command:

$ soffice thanks.odt

Tested with LO 4.2.6.2 (from PPA) under Ubuntu 12.04 x86 (gnome/unity)

Or possibly it's happen only in particular situation? Exact reproducible steps
should be known.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83125] LO Writer loses/abandons cursor focus in encrypted password window

2014-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83125

My apologies for all the typos - ick. The corrected description is below.

Whenever I invoke LO Writer from the command line of a terminal to open an
encrypted .odt file, the cursor (almost) always drops the focus immediately
from the encrypted password window back to the terminal that invoked it. This
is a huge security breach because if I type the password before I realize this
has happened, it shows up on the terminal and potentially in my command
history.

See
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-3x0QT9-7fIWExSUGp3S1ZzZE0/edit?usp=sharing
for example.

This sometimes happens if LO crashes while I have an encrypted .odt file open
and it is trying to recover the file, but not always. (This has happened
several times in 14.04 and rarely in 12.04, so it may be something weird
there.)

The loss of focus problem has not happened yet if I open Writer first and then
open the file from there. Then this happens:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-3x0QT9-7fIUHdGYUJkOWQ3ZUE/edit?usp=sharing

Please fix in 4.2.7 or 4.3.1, whichever comes next.

I am running Xubuntu 14.04 with xfce4 v 4.10 on an AMD Phenom II x6 CPU.

This never happened with Xubuntu 12.04, and it does not happen on my work
desktop, which is running a dual quad-Xeon (and the same OS).

I am also filing a bug with Xubuntu, among others, just in case.

Hi Dan,

the example isn't created for adding data or show a full qualified database.
See the content of this bug. It should only show the refreshing of a
subsubform. And exact this is, what it is doing:

If you do the steps written down in comment6 you see no refresh with LO 4.3.*
(last version here 4.3.1.1). But you would see it with the actual 4.4.0.0alpha.
The reason for this is the same as in the other reported bugs.

Regards

Robert

I found the problem. In LO Tools/Options/Language Settings/Languages, the
"Language of : User Interface" has to be set to match the separately installed
Help package language. In my case (Australia) the "Language of : User
Interface" has to be set to "English - UK" to match the separate help package
"Built in help in English (GB)". (Perhaps the help package should be called
"UK" and not "GB"?) In my case with Windows Vista, the Windows language is
English-Australia. Interestingly the default language for LO shows as Default -
English UK. However if set to this, after restarting LO, it changes back to
Default English - US. Is this because there is no separate language pack for
English-Australia? Thanks to Jay for your help.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83122] New: BASE MYSQL NATIVE CONNECTOR: Options to GROUP_CONCAT not processed, error returned: SEPARATOR and DISTINCT

Bug ID: 83122

  Severity: minor
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: dougt901-2...@yahoo.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: Database
   Product: LibreOffice

MySQL/MariaDB supports the following options in GROUP_CONCAT function:
SEPARATOR and DISTINCT. For manual reference, see <
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/group-by-functions.html#function_group-concat
>

LO Base will not accept/execute query that contains "SEPARATOR" or "DISTINCT"
options in GROUP_CONCAT function. The back end MySQL database will, however,
process these options as documented. Problem assumed to be with LibreOffice
MySQL Native Connector for LibreOffice. FYI, JDBC driver from MySQL also
failed to handle those options.

DESIRED RESULT: GROUP_CONCAT function in LO Native Connector should not return
errors when options SEPARATOR and DISTINCT are provided. Connector should
handle syntax consistent with MySQL manual.

Workaround, of course, is to create view in back-end MySQL database itself
without using LibreOffice front end, so bug given 'minor' status.

Bug encountered Windows 7/LO 4.3.0.4/MySQL Native Connector for LibreOffice 4.x
1.0.2 (May 02, 2014)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83121] New: BASE QUERY EDITOR: silently changes one-to-many relationships in complex query, impossible to set reliable outer join relationships

2014-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83121

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83121
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: BASE QUERY EDITOR: silently changes one-to-many
relationships in complex query, impossible to set
reliable outer join relationships
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: dougt901-2...@yahoo.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.6.2 release
 Component: Database
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 105312
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=105312&action=edit
demonstration document - use suggested steps in Query1

1. Create a complex, cascade-type query such as the one in the attached in
Query1. This query is to have one-to-many/all-to-any relationships between all
tables from left to right (in this case from 'owners' all the way to the
various 'keys' and 'id's for fields in tables).

2. Check and change all of the table relationships to enforce this
one-to-many, left-to-right-ness. That is, all first-tier relationships left to
right should have left-most table 'owners' on the 'one'/'all' side, and the
other tables moving right on the 'many'/'any' side. Next tier tables moving to
the right should be on the 'one'/'all' side, and the keys running off of those
tables moving still farther to the right of the GUI should be on the
'many'/'any' side.

3. The critical aspect of the sample Query1 appears to be that the middle
'branch' of the relationships is three tables deep (rather than two). The
third table on that branch appears to trigger the following problem (but not
crystal clear).

4. Once user establishes the relationships, save query, close, reopen, and
check the relationships again. That already has been done in sample.

5. Those relationships have changed. That is, the one-to-many relationship of
one or more of the tables has changed so that the table that was supposed to be
on the 'many'/'any' side has switched to the 'one'/'all'. That is reflected in
the text description of the join, where the first referenced table is now
reversed in the description. The alteration means that, for example, the
non-existence of a particular key that was supposed to be optional in the
desired query, will block display of entire row in the query as modified
(effect similar to an INNER JOIN).

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: The one-to-many relationships only should change when the
user specifically directs.

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR: This is relationship whack-a-mole; when one relationship is
manually changed by the user, another relationship automatically and silently
changes to an adverse setting. Because there is no visual display of the
relationship in the GUI (without multiple clicks), this is invisible except the
data results are not consistent with expectations. Query builder GUI might
even be failing to correctly render the relationships, I can't really tell.
The result is dramatically adverse with the right/wrong data set, subtler here
with the sample set.

ALTERNATIVE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: If Base is unable to render this
query/determine correct relationships, it should throw an error. However, the
syntax seems capable of supporting it.

SUGGESTION: Base query builder is defining the relationship as 'LEFT' or
'RIGHT', but that only has meaning if you tell the query what is on the left or
what is on the right. Since the GUI does not allow the user to specify this
option, instead, consider using terminology 'ONLY' and 'ANY' (or similar) which
will provide unambiguous, non-context-based directions from GUI for how to
draft queries.

REASON WHY THIS IS A 'MAJOR' BUG: Bug changes data that is displayed, makes
output of query unreliable, the boundaries of the bug are unclear (it happens
with this query, why not another), and one can spend a really long time doing
this relationship whack-a-mole before realizing Base has a problem.

Earlier made related enhancement suggestion in <
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82325 >

RELATED UNEXPECTED FUNCTIONALITY: Query Builder GUI appears to save the
relationships between tables separate from the query SQL so that if user sets
up relationships in SQL text (notwithstanding removal by base of all text line
ends after every close/reopen), and then switches into GUI, relationships are
revised automatically by Query Builder GUI and need to be altered through GUI
to conform to desired SQL syntax. In other words, it is not clear that using
SQL text feature is a workaround for this problem. Appears to block using
Query Builder for more than simplest queries.

Using JDBC connector to MariaDB, had additional problem that 'preview' of query
would display eight or ten null rows; on close and execution of query out of
preview mode it would render without completely null rows but still with
anomalous/undes

2014-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83116

I agree about the likely cause but I do see it as a bug or needful improvement;
an user could argue that if "12:23:34.9994" is a legitimate time, so is
"12:23:34.9996".

I think I can fix it; I'd either:
 - parse the whole "SS." bit as a float respecting the regional settings,
 - add fractional_seconds/length(fractional_seconds) to the ongoing value, or
 - if the precision must be limited to 1 ms, allow 1 s to be carried over to
the seconds part.

Any hints on the relevant bit of code? I'll look into setting up a development
environment. Also, is there a spec that says that decimal digits beyond the
third must be truncated or rounded in conversion? I thought dates were
floating-point numbers.

What I used: LibreOffice 4.3.04 on Kubuntu 14.04 (x86 Deb).

I can modify the note on the right side of the bottom form. When I cycle
through the rows of the company addresses, the modification of the Note field
appears as it should.

I could not add a note because of an error message about a field being NULL
that has the property NOT NULL. This needs to be fixed for this form to work
properly.

I would like more information listing the specific steps when using the form
ending with 16-08-2014@12:16PM. Which part of the form should have data added
to it? Please also name the table that contains the data for each part of the
form. What part does the Bare Address and Full Address play in this form?

I think the issue is that those values exceeded the maximum to manage as
date/time values, thousandths of a second.
And to round 0,9995 implies a +1 second what doesn't seem properly to transform
the text in a date/time value.
Preserving in the text only three decimals, conversion it's done properly.

I don't know if it can be considerer really a bug.

I have opened the attachment 104769 using Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: b6da6a887a0417be02e123a6d19837123e58b94f
TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86@45-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2014-08-09_07:47:21
(deb x86 Kubuntu 14.04)

I had no problem adding information to the subform. Then I was able to cycle
through the rows of the main form and what I had added appear when it should
including matching values of the primary-foreign key pairs.

Another comment: This attachment contains a form with a main form and two
identical subforms. This does not qualify as a form with a main form, and
subform which also has a subform. To qualify, one of the subforms must have a
subform with a foreign key that matches the primary key of the main form. The
second subform must have a foreign key that matches the primary key of the
first subform.

2014-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com

 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

As stated in the toolbar improvement meta bug 81475, inserting a comment is
commonly inserted elements in a document and represents the most commonly added
element for document collaboration. So i'd like to suggest the addition of the
insert comment (.uno:InsertAnnotation) button, which is presently found in the
insert toolbar, into the standard toolbar.

'insert comment' stats:
1) Percentage of users who activate it from the menu: 61%
2) Ranking of usage of button in the insert toolbar: 5th
3) Ranking of usage of the insert element: 6th

I'd like to suggest that the entry be placed before the drawing functions
(.uno:InsertDraw) button.

Thank you Lionel for the hints.

Since keyId Language Id gaves no link (no keyid for all the entries of the
popup menu), I searched "Image Off" and found this:
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sw/source/uibase/docvw/docvw.src#170

Some lines above, Edit is here:
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sw/source/uibase/docvw/docvw.src#40

Searching "MN_READONLY_EDITDOC" gave 3 results (see
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/search?q=MN_READONLY_EDITDOC&project=core&defs=&refs=&path=&hist=)
Best candidate seemed this one:
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sw/source/uibase/docvw/romenu.cxx#216

210 eState = pVFrame->GetBindings().QueryState( SID_EDITDOC, pState );
211 if (
212 eState < SFX_ITEM_DEFAULT ||
213 (rSh.IsGlobalDoc() && rView.GetDocShell()->IsReadOnlyUI())
214)
215 {
216 EnableItem( MN_READONLY_EDITDOC, false );
217 }

With Writer eState = SFX_ITEM_DEFAULT whereas with Base eState =
SFX_ITEM_DISABLED

I must recognize I hardly understand all this. Should we try to link "not
design mode" with eState? More clearly, should eState be equal to
SFX_ITEM_DEFAULT when not in design mode?

Sample file of merged cells

Hi, If I'm not wrong is how it works selecting "No" when merging the cells
LibreOffice ask if "Should the contents of the hidden cells be moved into the
first cell?", hidden cell keep their values, so it works for filter and for
count.

Hello xv1t,

Thank you for submitting the bug. Yes unfortunately this is a common problem
that libreoffice has and a friend sent me a file which had the same issue
(attachment 98140) and there are problems with image positioning changing when
printing (bug 79538).

The result of pdf export is much better. As far as I understand Luke's and
Regina's comments, it was done with commits:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/basegfx/source/polygon/b2dpolygonclipper.cxx?id=1ca06ce59b7d3cea873d2dc109a2acaec0a80759

Unfortunately, the export is not perfect. I see parallel lines in red and green
areas. Should we mark this one as fixed and open another report? Should we ask
somebody to port the patches to 4.3 branch?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83109] New: Proposition to improve(?) calc merged cells behaviour

2014-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83109

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83109
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Proposition to improve(?) calc merged cells behaviour
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: reussand...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Hi,

Let me present the problem:
I am used to use a lot spreadsheet programs to categorize data. Let the first
column contain the category, the second the data.
Example:
a | 10
a | 12
a | 30
b | 20
c | 14
d | 12
d | 50
Normally, I am using the identical categories as merged cells, so only one "a"
is visible. It is ok visually.
a | 10
  | 12
  | 30
b | 20
c | 14
d | 12
  | 50
But if I want to count the data belonging to category "a", I have only 1 as
result, because it is the only "a" item in category column.
OK, I could use other methods to count them, but the actual behaviour, I think,
can be better.
If the merged cells would return "a" for each contained cells, the use of
formulas for merged cells could be correct.
Or filtering: using a filter, only the first row is captured, but not the rest.
In the filter, I would like to see for "a":
a | 10
  | 12
  | 30
and not
a | 10
Maybe a simple checkbox would be enough:
[ ] multiply data for merged cells/ data categorize mode or an icon that change
the behaviour.
... or something similar.
I don't know if it is an improvement or not, for me, it would be fine.
Thanks for your attention.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83108] New: Other: Not enough randomness when converting to PDF

2014-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83108

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83108
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Other: Not enough randomness when converting to PDF
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: www.libreoffice@sjau.ch
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Printing and PDF export
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

LO seems to have a lack of randomness for glyphs when exporting to PDF.

I did create a few shell scripts that make PDF management simpler. In one of
those scripts, stamp documents with numbers:

I can select a bunch of PDFs in Dolphin. Then I get prompted to enter a
starting number. Then the shell script goes through each pdf, it splits the PDF
up into single pages. Then it uses a .odt file and replaces in there
placeholders for document number an page number. The page number of course
increases on each page, while the document number increases from PDF to PDF.

That .odt gets then converted to a PDF page and is then put over each single
page, creating a new pdf. In the end, all pages for one document get combined
together again.

This is repeated through all documents and in the end, they are then also
merged again.

However in the resulting PDF I noticed, that the numbering for the documents is
sometimes wrong. With each font that I tried always at the same page. E.g. when
I use Arial, then document 14 starts showing up as document 10 in the combined
PDF, while as single PDF it's all fine.

I asked in the #ghostscript channel for help for what the problem could be.
Chrisl explained it to me like this:

So, this is a regular problem that comes up with the PDFs exported from
Libre/OpenOffice. When you use a font to display, for example, a string like
"Page 33", it would be wasteful to embed the entire Arial font in the PDF just
for that, so applications "subset" fonts, so the only include the descriptions
for those seven glyphs. Space is a glyph, defined for each font. The exact way
that the subsets are stored varies, so I'll go with a trivial example.

Take the first glyph "P" - the letter P is ascii code 80. So it would also be
wasteful to include 79 glyph "slots" just to get to index 80 for P.
Applications will therefore use a custom encoding so that (massively
simplifying things!) the glyph "P" will actually be in glyph slot 1 (slot zero
is special). The "a" will be slot 2 etc.

So, in the next document, the first thing printed in Arial is actually "This
page is intentionally left blank" - the application would put the glyph "T" in
index 0. So, when you send the two PDFs to Ghostcript's pdfwrite device, it
gets the Arial font, with the "P" in index 0 for the first PDF, then it gets
Arial for the second document - but it already has an instance of Arial
defined, so uses that. It gets a reference to index 0, which is already
occupied, and thus does not need populated.

[...]

Bear with me, I'm getting to why it's a LibreOffice problem :-)

Now, Adobe document a mechanism to prevent that kind of clash, which is that
such font subsets should have a unique, random six letter prefix added to the
name. The problem is that LibreOffice always use the same seed to create these
prefixes for each document. So, for example, the prefixes are always of the
pattern AA+Arial, AB+Arial. so they are unique within the *current*
document but not sufficiently unique to give protection from this kind of
clash.

So, from what I gather LO has too little randomness when creating PDFs and that
can then lead to collissions.

Because of, Chrisl suggested, that I first convert to .gs and then to PDF. Ever
since implementing this change (
https://github.com/sjau/pdfForts/commit/5dc4c86d741abe9fff21ff37c7539c0d749eadac#diff-02b2731ca50711cd69dc2155179b6710
) it now works as it should.

So I assume chrisl is right and that's an LO PDF export problem.

You updated from LO 4.2 to LO 4.3. Both use the same user-directory for LO.
Have you tried to rename the LO-user-directory? Must be here:
%appdata%\libreoffice\4\user
When you rename this directory (for example '4' to '4old') it will be rewritten
next time.

Could be there is a little difference in the directory, which produces the
crash. If it isn't the solution, you could delete the new created
user-directory and rename the old back.

Demo file to trigger the incorrect behavior

Problem description:

Since version 4.3, libreoffice cannot open presentation files prepared with
previous releases of libreoffice correctly. Furthermore, files opened and
subsequently saved with libreoffice 4.3 become similarly corrupted also for
previous versions of libreoffice, hence libreoffice >= 4.3 ends up damaging
existing libreoffice documents. The damages appear to be permanent, namely be
not fixable by subsequent editing, meaning that libreoffice from version 4.3
builds incorrect data structures when reading existing impress files and
subsequently outputs illegal odp files when saving them.

Thus the issue appears very serious because people might ruin their existing
documents by editing them with libreoffice4.3 unless they have a backup.

The issue regards master pages and specifically the visual aspect of the bullet
lists in the master pages. Two things happen:

1) The way in which these lists appear in the master pages and in the slides
becomes inconsistent: lists are visually displayed in one way in the master
page (e.g. with some color, some type of bullets, some spacing) and in another
way in the slides.

2) The visual aspects of the bullet points (color, spacing, character or image
used for the bullet point becomes uneditable).

The issue seems to be triggered by the presence of different master pages in
the same document.

Instructions to reproduce are here provided with respect to two sample
documents: demo_ok and demo_error.

demo_ok is a valid impress document prepared with libreoffice 4.2.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open the document with libreoffice 4.2. Note how the bullet point appear in
the slide. Close the document.

2. Open the document again with libreoffice 4.3. Note that the bullet points
look different.

3. View the master page. Note that the bullets in the master page look
different than in the actual slide.

4. Save the document as demo_error

5. Open demo_error with libreoffice 4.2. Note that things now go as in
libreoffice 4.3. The bullet points are wrong in the slides, but still look
correct in the master page. Try changing the bullets from the master page. It
is impossible.

Please, try to have this fixed soon since documents get permanently damaged.
Also please update the release notes of 4.3 to indicate that it can damage
impress documents.

Hi Peter,

seem you have updated LO and the mysql-connector to LO version 4.3.0.3 (see
this in the log-file you send to me). You are using the direct connection.
You could try to change to a JDBC-connection. The connector is an extension and
it could be there are problems inside the connector ...
The updates you made were updates of your system, right? 4.3.0.3 is a very new
version. I thought debian is specialist for stable working version, so I wonder
that there is a 4.3.0.3 for download, not a 4.2.* with more bugfixes ...

I cant get any connection with the database-file you send directly to my
mailaddress. It's because I have no dump of your MySQL-Database. So I could
only see you haven't used any macros inside the document.

You could send me a dump of your mysql-database so I could see, if I am able to
reproduce the buggy behavior.

You could get such a dump with a command like this in the terminal:
mysqldump -u  -l  > /home/user/database.sql;

Regards

Robert

desktop/source/deployment/manager/dp_extensionmanager.cxx which is not a
regular UNO exception.

maybe some of our bundled external libraries are not compiled with the

Hello Dan.

Thank you for filing the bug. Yes that is the default setting for all CTL
languages. It sets it that way when i need to write Arabic documents. But as
you have to go into the options in order to enable CTL, it is also necessary
for you to set your preferred CTL language. It is a one time setting you have
to set, so i dont think its unreasonable for the user to set it.

Thanks, tommy27.

I am running Vista Home x64 and definitely do NOT find "Text CSV
(.csv)" in the dropdown extension menu list of the open dialog.

However, I discovered the reason why I was unable to open the .csv file
sucessfully; when I installed LO 4.3.0.4 last week the default Character
set changed to Unicode (UTF-16) from Unicode (UTF-8) in previous
versions. Changing to the latter allowed me to open .csv files
successfully. I do not have a clue as to what UTF-7,8 or 16 means.
"System" seems to work also

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62947] UI Add 'paste special' or even better 'paste text without formatting' to context menu in Writer

Yes i alway felt that the dynamic submenu might be a difficult thing to achieve
and would depend on the assigners capabilities. So how about a mix of the two,
with the ability to expand on it in the future. Have a static submenu with a
text only entry and a more entry which opens the dialog.

Paste
Paste Special
  Text Only
  More

One thing to also take into consideration is that sometimes 'Text Only' would
have to be dimmed or unlisted, if the option isnt possible (e.g. pasting an
image).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83104] New: EDITING: Calc text auto completion does not avoid suggestions starting with numbers

2014-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83104

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83104
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING: Calc text auto completion does not avoid
suggestions starting with numbers
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: kobz...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.4 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Hi,

Currently Calc auto completion does not avoid numbers. When you entered a cell
beginning with number and followed by text, calc will try to autocomlete the
cells which starts the number entered previously.

For example if you type ''1. Month'' or ''7000 bullets'' to A1, Calc will
autocomplete every cell which starts with 1 or 7

This is really annoying because if you have a table with rows/coloums
text+number combination every number entry will suggest you the label again.
Also it is forcing users to make mistake, every number you'll need to click
backspace and make sure it is "the number" and slows the user.

I am attaching a screenshot for Calc vs Ms Excel autocompletion comparison.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Type a number+ text(or sign) combination to a cell
2. Type the number and see the autocompletion suggestion

Current behavior:

Numbers are not avoided

Expected behavior:
Autocompletion suggestions which are starting with numbers are disabled.
Operating System: All

While i was checking MS Word, i noticed that in addition to the standard paste
and special paste text with no formatting option, they also had a special paste
text with destination document formatting option that they labelled 'Merge
Formatting'. With 'Merge Formatting', pasted text gets that text styling
according to the location of where you are pasting it into the destination
document, and retains direct formatting things like bold, italics, etc. as well
as indentation, bullet/numbering points, etc.

I've included in the attachment a sample document showing the same text pasted
with the 3 different options in ms word.

I wouldnt argue that paste as text isnt highly used, but only including a
clickable pas in the menu, which you say will is 90% of the time, mandates the
remaining 10% have to use the ps dialog, when it easy enough to have all the
options clickable in a submenu and fulfills everyones needs.

Was checking ms word and they have a third option of special paste text which
is a mix of the default and text with no formatting. Will suggest its addition
in another bug. :)

the wiki also says that:

"If the text has the Hungarian or Finnish language attribute, then two hyphens
in the sequence A--B are replaced by an en-dash instead of an em-dash"

so if german tipography wants en-dash, german should be added to exception
languages as Hungarian and Finnish as well. (comment 2)

anyway, are we really sure that the "em-dash" rule is 100% accurate in other
languages as well?

I personally do not to use the sidebar in writer as i havent find suitable
advantage to it over the toolbars, but i do keep it active to constantly check
it out. But i have used the sidebar in calc and like it on the left side, as it
doesnt move my view from the left corner of the screen, the same way i normally
view things in IDEs like UltraEdit.

Having the slides centered in impress i feel is a great thing as it keeps the
users eyes in the center.

>From what i've seen, navigation is normally placed on the left side (email
clients, find in ms word, pdf viewers), while other things are placed on the
right (styles in ms word, tag lists in text editors).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81472] EDITING: Autocorrection off , , [comma comma] to : [colon]

2014-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81472

yes, in LibO 4.4.x wildcard autocorrection has been improved and allows to use
"in the middle" patterns such as .*,,.*

so in 4.4.x you will need just one autocorrect entry like:
.*,,.* to :
instead of the 24 replacements described in comment 1 that you need in LibO
4.2.x and 4.3.x

@Lazlo
sorry if I'm asking this over and over again (but you've never replied to that)
are there any chances that the middle wildcard pattern is going to be
cherry-picked to the 4.3.x branch as well?

You can use the single pattern .*,,.*, too, with the development code. Thanks
for your bug report!

tommy27: thanks for your help and the tip! I added this bug report, as a fine
example, to the help of LibreOffice: „To replace word parts or characters
within words, you can use starting and terminating wildcard character sequences
in the same pattern. For example, entering time values can be faster using only
numerical keys, and double decimal separators as colons in the following way:
set the pattern ".*...*" or ".*,,.*" (double dots or commas within words) and
the replacement text ":", and entering "10..30" or "10,,30" results "10:30"
automatically.”

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78699] crash after Undo of Sort with cell comment and then re-sort

2014-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78699

FYI the sort undo redo code is totally different now on master, 4.3 and the
latest 4.2 branch (although the one in the 4.2 branch was not my intent). This
needs to be re-tested with the new code.
