[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91179] New: cale files in "Share document" mode are "locked" if open over network (ssh/webdav)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91179 Bug ID: 91179 Summary: cale files in "Share document" mode are "locked" if open over network (ssh/webdav) Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.0.0.0.alpha0+ Master Hardware: Other OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: zhangwe...@realss.com Reproduce: 1. Make an empty Openoffice Calc document, enable Share Document (Tools -> Share Document), save it as .ods. Close LibreOffice. 2. Open the file to make sure it is still in Shared Document mode. Close Libreoffice. 3. Copy the file to a network server (in my case, WebDAV); 4. Open LibreOffice, File -> Open, on the upper right corner, choose "Servers", access the WebDAV server, and open that file. 5. The files open in Read Only mode. Expected: 5. The files open, and still in "Shared Document" mode, just like step 2. Notes: -- I tested it on latest LibreOfficeDev_5.0.0.0.alpha1_Linux_x86-64 and I re-tested it on LibreOffice 4.2.7, the version shipped with Ubuntu 14.04, same result. On LibreOffice 4.2.7 I also tested accessing it through SSH, lest WebDAV is broken. This time, I got a dialog when opening the file over SSH in the last step. It stated the reason of read-only being 'file locked': Document file 'insurance%20investment.ods' is locked for editing by: Unknown User Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing. I made sure in all my testing, the network directory (be it WebDAV or SSH) allows writing, so that ".~sharing.xxx.ods#" file can be created. The way I test it is to save a random file into the network directory through "File -> Save as". More information about how Share Document mode and ".~sharing.xxx.ods#" file are expected to function can be found here: http://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/html/openSUSE_113/opensuse-apps/cha.oo.calc.html Quote: It is now possible to share a spreadsheet with other users. To do so, click Tools+Share Document. In the dialog that appears, activate the sharing mode and save the document. This creates a lock file .~sharing.filename.ods# in the same directory to store the list of users who are currently accessing the document. When a different user, tux opens the file, he is informed about the sharing mode and can make his changes to the file. When he wants to save his changes (and the document has been modified by another user in the meantime), a message appears. Upon saving the document, the changes of both users will be merged. Access Permissions Note that all writers working on the shared document need writing permission for both the shared file and the lock file. Notice the use case: if a user wants to work on a document in Share Document mode, of course he intends to save it over the network. If Share Document only works when files are saved "locally", then it is limited to LAN, where with NFS/CIFS the user can map files to local directories. This is an extremely limited case. Most users wants to share across the Internet. Hence, this bug defeats the Share Document feature. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Could we use Calc's > system in writer? It is not that easy in that case. Looks like that document references an external file that is not included. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88296] Show Caps Lock status in LibreOffice UI
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88296 --- Comment #13 from V Stuart Foote --- So lets expand this a bit -- currently we have Insert/Overwrite mode in status bar--but we need a Caps Lock and also a Number Lock indicator. The current space in the status bar used for "Insert/Overwrite" mode is labeled with text, that space could be used for three icons perhaps with a localized single character label. Red or green "dots" with a single character (localized) label C: Red off/Green locked on -> for capslock I: Red off/Green locked on -> for insert N: Red off/Green locked on -> for numlock Or maybe just amber "dot"s for each when any is toggled active. The BASIC command dispatcher.executeDispatch(document, ".uno:GoRight", "", 0, args2()) in a counting loop, now skips over hidden columns, which can have drastic consequences when it selects the wrong cells to act upon. If I use the right mouse to Delete contents, after accepting the dialog box, it instead takes 2-3 seconds before crashing. If I first remove lines of sum totals A503:AMJ516, thus removing the number of cells needing to be recalculated, then when repeating the test, LibO does instead hang in an infinite loop. If I first delete rows 27:516, then it works correctly (pressing [Delete]). Spelling And Grammar tells me that the document is fine, that there are no errors. I've tested this on a document filled with absolute nonsense. However, everything works as expected if I create a new document from the LibreOffice Writer menu. Windows 7, 64-bit. LibreOffice 4.4.3.2. I've attached an image showing that the autocorrect is active, and that a bunch of incorrect text is not underlined. Side-note: I came into the office today, created a new document, and the auto-correct issue suddenly appeared. Creating documents as described above is normal procedure for me, so this issue actually just appeared seemingly out of the blue. At the time, I was using a version of LibreOffice prior to 4.3.7, I don't remember which version though. When the issue arose, I upgraded to 4.3.7. The issue persisted through a reboot, and through deleting my LibreOffice folder under /AppData. I decided to do a full uninstall of LibreOffice, and then install version 4.4.3.2. The problem persisted. HOWEVER, it wasn't until I had installed 4.4.3.2 that I noticed that there was no issue when creating a document from the LibreOffice Writer software. It is possible that the problem existed under the prior conditions, and is likely, but is unconfirmed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

So the correct folks are already involved. Somewhat related, with some 400 valid BZ issues tagged ux-advise in various states of UI design and UX review this is just one issue. We have a current Design UI/UX Team AI to fully triage/prioritize and assign as needed "needsDevEval topicUI". Le fait d'afficher "MAJ" et/ou "NUM" Lock dans la barre d'état serait pour moi vraiment un plus pour LibreOffice. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91150 Adolfo Jayme changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED CC|libreoffice-ux-advise@lists | |.freedesktop.org| Resolution|--- |DUPLICATE --- Comment #3 from Adolfo Jayme --- Jay, this was already discussed with UX, and was decided to go with WONTFIX (use search, please!). Besides, there is the concern of unnecessarily increasing installation footprint without adding much value. Bundling Noto (and removing Open Sans), for example, would be a better move, as it would allow us to support many more languages. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 79022 *** -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91160] New: FORMATTING: Proposal to remove all horizontal and vertical spacings from Writer style settings
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91160 Bug ID: 91160 Summary: FORMATTING: Proposal to remove all horizontal and vertical spacings from Writer style settings Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: c...@chrblee.net Summary: most style parameters could be hidden by default, and calculated from a small number of global parameters set by the user. This may seem a radical proposal, but discussing spacing just happens to be the easiest way of introducing a different approach to style management that eliminates the difficulties of the present arrangements. For example, if you want to modify Heading 2, you are provided with 3 horizontal indent settings (in cm by default) and a tick-box labelled Automatic. For vertical spacing you have 2 parameters in cm and another tick-box. You can also choose the line spacing. That's just the Indents and Spacing tab, for just one Heading level. Change the font size (or even only the font) at that level or somewhere upstream makes these settings inappropriate, particularly the ones in absolute units like cm. While working on Heading 2 you can't see what you may have already done to Heading 1 or 3, so there is no way of visualising quantitatively to what extent your style scheme is internally consistent. What's more, there isn't much in the style modification window, with all those tabs that jump around, to tell you where the font and other parameters were first defined, nor what effects your changes will have downstream. Not surprisingly, very few LO Writer templates are available on the web, though no doubt big users like the French Gendarmerie have expert development teams for that. The current style structure really needs to be presented as a unified organisation chart that shows the dependencies. In fact, end users and enterprises should rarely have to think about such matters. Typography is an art and a skill where the sizes of characters and their spacing are a matter of proportion. Proportions would best be decided by experts familiar with different national typographical conventions. If we take this argument to its logical conclusion, nearly everything could be calculated from what we could call a style policy file, to which the end user would have to provide only a few parameters. Individual styles would, by default, be left with very few settings and users who don't know what they're doing would be discouraged from using advanced settings. There's nothing innovative about that: it's the way LaTeX works. LaTeX was introduced in 1977, mainly for academic publishing including maths; it pre-dates most wordprocessors but is still very much in use. LO Writer has a LaTeX export function, giving access to multi-language environments and printing to professional standards. I'm not proposing that the majority of LO users will need LaTeX, which never was much fun in the office. The point to be made here is that the conceptual basis for what are now conventional wordprocessors has taken an unfortunate turn. In other words, it would be time for LO to stop trying to clone Word and adopt a different model. In the beginning, LaTeX had only one font, it's own. That restriction has been lifted and there are now several fonts specifically configured for the full range of typographical tools. At the most basic default level, the user indicates nothing but the basic font size and the language(s), leaving the software to scale all styles accordingly. Not everyone needs to diddle individual style parameters, though people often use the command \linespread to globally stretch or shrink the preset line spacings. On the other hand you can change anything you want if you use the plethoric help on the web to find and configure a package (sort of plug-in) among the hundreds available. LO is used for more varied and often less serious purposes than academic documents. However, the proposed LaTeX-like style "policy" file should not need very much user input. An example of a key stylistic choice is between indenting the first line of paragraphs, or not indenting but adding space after. Also, unlike out-of-the-box LaTeX we may declare 2 or 3 serif and/or sans-serif fonts for text, headers and some other items. Scaling of styles should depend on font metrics as well as the nominal size. You could imagine a few other global parameters, for example to vary the rate of variation of relative font size, case and character styles of headings as a function of their depth. But that's about all. Lists may be an exception worth more attention as a separate development. User requirements vary from firing bullets at subordinates to the smooth but stepwise presentation of a subtle

Once your shape is created, it has now green handle. 2. Change fill color to black (NO bug with other colors). => OK the shape is correctly filled with black 3. Change filling to None => Bug: shape keeps its black filling 4. Click on black and drag the shape => When clicking on black, nothing should happen as there is no filling. But shape is moved. On release, filling is updated to none. You can no more click inside the shape 5. Change filling to Color, Black => Bug: shape stays without filling. You cannot click inside the shape 6. Move the shape => Black filling appears again NO bug if some transparency is defined. Bug appears only between these two states (None <=> Color Black). If you change .SOC file, so Black is no more the first color (such as html.soc), the bug is still only with Black color. It seems that LibO get confused between no filling and (0,0,0) as code color. Change can be made with toolbar, sidebar, or Format > Area dialog UI.
