Reproducible with LO 4.4.2.2, Win 8.1

It works with odt, but it doesn't work with doc and docx.

I select "Insert > Special Characters..." to open the "Special Characters"

No matter where I look I cannot find the Philippine Peso sign. It should be

The character looks like this: ₱

This symbol is U+20B1 in Unicode 3.2 standard.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91179] New: cale files in "Share document" mode are "locked" if open over network (ssh/webdav)

2015-05-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91179

Bug ID: 91179
Summary: cale files in "Share document" mode are "locked" if
open over network (ssh/webdav)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: zhangwe...@realss.com

Reproduce:

1. Make an empty Openoffice Calc document, enable Share Document (Tools ->
Share Document), save it as .ods. Close LibreOffice.

2. Open the file to make sure it is still in Shared Document mode. Close
Libreoffice.

3. Copy the file to a network server (in my case, WebDAV);

4. Open LibreOffice, File -> Open, on the upper right corner, choose "Servers",
access the WebDAV server, and open that file.

5. The files open in Read Only mode.

Expected:

5. The files open, and still in "Shared Document" mode, just like step 2.

Notes:

--
I tested it on latest LibreOfficeDev_5.0.0.0.alpha1_Linux_x86-64 and I
re-tested it on LibreOffice 4.2.7, the version shipped with Ubuntu 14.04, same
result.

On LibreOffice 4.2.7 I also tested accessing it through SSH, lest WebDAV is
broken. This time, I got a dialog when opening the file over SSH in the last
step. It stated the reason of read-only being 'file locked':

Document file 'insurance%20investment.ods' is locked
for editing by:

Unknown User

Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing.

I made sure in all my testing, the network directory (be it WebDAV or SSH)
allows writing, so that ".~sharing.xxx.ods#" file can be created. The way I
test it is to save a random file into the network directory through "File ->
Save as".

More information about how Share Document mode and ".~sharing.xxx.ods#" file
are expected to function can be found here:
http://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/html/openSUSE_113/opensuse-apps/cha.oo.calc.html

Quote:

It is now possible to share a spreadsheet with other users. To do
so, click Tools+Share Document. In the dialog that appears, activate
the sharing mode and save the document. This creates a lock file
.~sharing.filename.ods# in the same directory to store the list of
users who are currently accessing the document. When a different
user, tux opens the file, he is informed about the sharing mode and
can make his changes to the file. When he wants to save his changes
(and the document has been modified by another user in the
meantime), a message appears. Upon saving the document, the changes
of both users will be merged.

Access Permissions
Note that all writers working on the shared document need writing
permission for both the shared file and the lock file.

Notice the use case: if a user wants to work on a document in Share Document
mode, of course he intends to save it over the network. If Share Document only
works when files are saved "locally", then it is limited to LAN, where with
NFS/CIFS the user can map files to local directories. This is an extremely
limited case. Most users wants to share across the Internet. Hence, this bug
defeats the Share Document feature.

It is not that easy in that case. Looks like that document references an
external file that is not included. So we are using actually not even the
writer data provider but the internal one.

I'll see if I can do some ugly hacks in the import to set the data series name
in case we fall back to the internal data provider.

My keyboard has red LEDs for those states. And on means active. I don't think
its a good idea. A short abbreviation is better here. CAP, NUM, INS always
visible but disabled when inactive.

2015-05-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88296

So lets expand this a bit -- currently we have Insert/Overwrite mode in status
bar--but we need a Caps Lock and also a Number Lock indicator.

The current space in the status bar used for "Insert/Overwrite" mode is labeled
with text, that space could be used for three icons perhaps with a localized
single character label.

Red or green "dots" with a single character (localized) label

C: Red off/Green locked on -> for capslock
I: Red off/Green locked on -> for insert
N: Red off/Green locked on -> for numlock

Or maybe just amber "dot"s for each when any is toggled active. The space could
be active to toggle mode as it is now for insert/overwrite--or it could be a
simple status indicator.

it might be worth the value of the keys "Caps Lock" and "Num Lock" key appears
in the status bar of the application (the bottom of the entry screen) for all
keyboards have no LED on these keys. The fact display "Shift" and / or "NUM"
Lock in the status bar would be for me really a plus for LibreOffice.
Maybe this option already exists in the application, but I have not found in
the settings.
If this is the case, I apologize for the inconvenience.
Anyway, keep it up, your office suite is great! I am a hardcore user from the
beginning!

This is essentially a duplicate of bug 88296 and its antithis for Insert mode
for bug 88367 -- there is some thought that a suitable Icon set might be the
best way to handle these keyboard status items in the status bar.

There is no need to use mixed reference for named range.
Named range is expanded with absolute reference.

However using relative reference is problematic in this case (and many others)
as "test" range is not the same depending on where you use this name (pivot
table or formula).

If you want to know what I try to esplain, do this:
In cell F1, write "=test" (without quotes) and validate with Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
Now do the same un cell F15.

Did you see what I mean?

*I'm not repeating each test above - just highlighted the relevant cells and
pushed delete key.

LibreOffice 4.4.2.2 - loop
LibreOffice 3.3 (inherited from OOo) -- no crash

I'm not 100% sure that these are all the same issue (especially the last one)
but I'm going to push as NEW and mark as a regression.

@S. Anreason - I'm changing this to Major instead of Critical. If you can
create a simpler test case that shows that it will affect others more than we
can push it back to Critical. Critical is supposed to be kept for crashes that
will affect the majority of our users - this is a complex (kind of) sheet so
given that, less likely to impact the wider community enough to warrant
critical status.

Going to try to bibisect now.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91176] New: Shadowed Drop cap truncates character

2015-05-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91176

Bug ID: 91176
Summary: Shadowed Drop cap truncates character
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eliezer.se...@gmail.com

When a drop cap character style includes "shadow," the character is truncated
so that only the left half appears. (Switching to a different drop-cap
character style in the paragraph style does not register unless I first format
the paragraph in a different paragraph style and then switch back to the one
using drop caps.)
This bug does not occur in OpenOffice.org (though the shadowed drop cap
sometimes crashes the program). Nor does it occur in NeOffice.

Summary: macro GoRight for calc jumps over hidden columns

   Version: 4.4.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: BASIC

A macro that was written long ago, and works correctly in 3.6 and 4.0, no
longer works correctly on a spreadsheet with columns hidden.
The BASIC command

 dispatcher.executeDispatch(document, ".uno:GoRight", "", 0, args2())

in a counting loop, now skips over hidden columns, which can have drastic
consequences when it selects the wrong cells to act upon.
In my case, counting 52 columns to select by moving right, now highlights A:BS
instead of A:BA

I'm running:

ledger for testing two bugs

When deleting several cells of formulas at one action, Delete cell contents,
then LibO crashes.

I'm running:
Version: 4.4.2.2
Build ID: c4c7d32d0d49397cad38d62472b0bc8acff48dd6
Locale: C_
Linux x86

Steps to reproduce.
Load the sample spreadsheet test-ledger.ods
Select BB9:BS9 either with mouse or entering into name box.

Multiple paths and results:
If Edit.Delete contents, then it works correctly.
If press [Delete] key, which is mapped to the same action, except without the
dialog box, then it crashes immediately.
If I use the right mouse to Delete contents, after accepting the dialog box, it
instead takes 2-3 seconds before crashing.
If I first remove lines of sum totals A503:AMJ516, thus removing the number of
cells needing to be recalculated, then when repeating the test, LibO does
instead hang in an infinite loop.
If I first delete rows 27:516, then it works correctly (pressing [Delete]).

I did notice bugs 90689 and 90694 first, but despite the similarities in title
and description, I was not able to reproduce those two samples provided. Thus
I'm filing this bug under it's own number.

Bug ID: 91173

Created attachment 115458
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=115458&action=edit
Example of a pivot table that do not respect the range of the named range

HOW TO REPRODUCE
Create a global named range
In attachment example, I create the named range Test as $A$1:$C3
Notice the absence of $ before the last row number
This is intentional to allow the range to increase adding rows
Use it as source for a pivot table
Add a new row of data following the named range
The named range gets correctly updated adding one or more rows as needed
You can check this using ctrl+F3
But the pivot table do not get data from the updated range

WORKAROUND
Do not use named range when range is dinamic.
Put a range directly as the source of the pivot table with a lot of rows
and ignore empty cells

TESTED ON:
OSX 10.9 LibreOffice version 4.3 4.4.2 4.4.3
Ubuntu 15.04 LibreOffice version 4.4.2.2

Document created from right-click context menu in explorer

Hello,

When I have a folder open in Windows Explorer, and I right-click in the folder
to pull up the Windows context menu, and choose "New->OpenDocument Text" to
create a Writer document, when I go to edit that document, neither Automatic
Spell Checking, nor Tools->Spelling And Grammar work. Spelling And Grammar
tells me that the document is fine, that there are no errors. I've tested this
on a document filled with absolute nonsense.

However, everything works as expected if I create a new document from the
LibreOffice Writer menu.

Windows 7, 64-bit. LibreOffice 4.4.3.2.

I've attached an image showing that the autocorrect is active, and that a bunch
of incorrect text is not underlined.

Side-note:
I came into the office today, created a new document, and the auto-correct
issue suddenly appeared. Creating documents as described above is normal
procedure for me, so this issue actually just appeared seemingly out of the
blue. At the time, I was using a version of LibreOffice prior to 4.3.7, I don't
remember which version though. When the issue arose, I upgraded to 4.3.7. The
issue persisted through a reboot, and through deleting my LibreOffice folder
under /AppData. I decided to do a full uninstall of LibreOffice, and then
install version 4.4.3.2. The problem persisted. HOWEVER, it wasn't until I had
installed 4.4.3.2 that I noticed that there was no issue when creating a
document from the LibreOffice Writer software. It is possible that the problem
existed under the prior conditions, and is likely, but is unconfirmed.

This bug has been open for more than three years. It is still present in
4.4.3.2. Fixing this would have saved me almost a day of working out how to use
text contents of a cell. See the attached example,
conditional.formatting.text.comparison.double.quotes.png, taken from my

@Gordo -

Please provide complete steps (don't assume QA knows what you're doing).

A good bug report should have enumerated steps that explicitly tell us what to
do, how to get to dialogs that you point to, and what we should see once we get
there.

Setting to NEEDINFO - once you provide clarifying steps please set to
UNCONFIRMED.

Also - is this a new issue or was it present in 4.4?

Installing LibO 5 on Linux Mint Mate 17, the existing folder containing the
active Personas is copied across from 4.4, and just the selected header and

Not a keyword, rather have set the correct Whiteboard of "needsDevEval topicUI"

The BZ "blocks" field distributes this via META to those with interest in the
UI and UX of the StartCenter. So the correct folks are already involved.

Somewhat related, with some 400 valid BZ issues tagged ux-advise in various
states of UI design and UX review this is just one issue. We have a current
Design UI/UX Team AI to fully triage/prioritize and assign as needed
"needsDevEval topicUI". The challenge is presenting this and its related fiends
forward as cohesive enhancements for developer attention. This is part of a
larger issue of how the modules and UI behaves within a session, for each of
the OS builds.

Cordialement.

Currently the UI is too basic and lacks icons.

Adding an expandable notification that allows control of the presentation
without entering the full screen mode would be a nice improvement.

Features such as a preview of the slide or the timer are possible via data
items(it is a nice opportunity to change the whole message based communication
to data syncing communication).

I've been tinkering with the source code for a couple of days, the most notable
improvement is shown below. Illustrates an expandable notification and the
current slide as background, also started using relevant google's material
design icons as placeholders on the buttons instead of characters.

Jay, this was already discussed with UX, and was decided to go with WONTFIX
(use search, please!). Besides, there is the concern of unnecessarily
increasing installation footprint without adding much value. Bundling Noto (and
removing Open Sans), for example, would be a better move, as it would allow us
to support many more languages.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91160] New: FORMATTING: Proposal to remove all horizontal and vertical spacings from Writer style settings

2015-05-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91160

Bug ID: 91160
Summary: FORMATTING: Proposal to remove all horizontal and
vertical spacings from Writer style settings
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: c...@chrblee.net

Summary: most style parameters could be hidden by default, and calculated from
a small number of global parameters set by the user.

This may seem a radical proposal, but discussing spacing just happens to be the
easiest way of introducing a different approach to style management that
eliminates the difficulties of the present arrangements.

For example, if you want to modify Heading 2, you are provided with 3
horizontal indent settings (in cm by default) and a tick-box labelled
Automatic. For vertical spacing you have 2 parameters in cm and another
tick-box. You can also choose the line spacing. That's just the Indents and
Spacing tab, for just one Heading level.

Change the font size (or even only the font) at that level or somewhere
upstream makes these settings inappropriate, particularly the ones in absolute
units like cm. While working on Heading 2 you can't see what you may have
already done to Heading 1 or 3, so there is no way of visualising
quantitatively to what extent your style scheme is internally consistent.
What's more, there isn't much in the style modification window, with all those
tabs that jump around, to tell you where the font and other parameters were
first defined, nor what effects your changes will have downstream.

Not surprisingly, very few LO Writer templates are available on the web, though
no doubt big users like the French Gendarmerie have expert development teams
for that. The current style structure really needs to be presented as a unified
organisation chart that shows the dependencies.

In fact, end users and enterprises should rarely have to think about such
matters. Typography is an art and a skill where the sizes of characters and
their spacing are a matter of proportion. Proportions would best be decided by
experts familiar with different national typographical conventions. If we take
this argument to its logical conclusion, nearly everything could be calculated
from what we could call a style policy file, to which the end user would have
to provide only a few parameters. Individual styles would, by default, be left
with very few settings and users who don't know what they're doing would be
discouraged from using advanced settings.

There's nothing innovative about that: it's the way LaTeX works. LaTeX was
introduced in 1977, mainly for academic publishing including maths; it
pre-dates most wordprocessors but is still very much in use. LO Writer has a
LaTeX export function, giving access to multi-language environments and
printing to professional standards. I'm not proposing that the majority of LO
users will need LaTeX, which never was much fun in the office. The point to be
made here is that the conceptual basis for what are now conventional
wordprocessors has taken an unfortunate turn. In other words, it would be time
for LO to stop trying to clone Word and adopt a different model.

In the beginning, LaTeX had only one font, it's own. That restriction has been
lifted and there are now several fonts specifically configured for the full
range of typographical tools. At the most basic default level, the user
indicates nothing but the basic font size and the language(s), leaving the
software to scale all styles accordingly. Not everyone needs to diddle
individual style parameters, though people often use the command \linespread to
globally stretch or shrink the preset line spacings. On the other hand you can
change anything you want if you use the plethoric help on the web to find and
configure a package (sort of plug-in) among the hundreds available.

LO is used for more varied and often less serious purposes than academic
documents. However, the proposed LaTeX-like style "policy" file should not need
very much user input. An example of a key stylistic choice is between indenting
the first line of paragraphs, or not indenting but adding space after. Also,
unlike out-of-the-box LaTeX we may declare 2 or 3 serif and/or sans-serif fonts
for text, headers and some other items. Scaling of styles should depend on font
metrics as well as the nominal size. You could imagine a few other global
parameters, for example to vary the rate of variation of relative font size,
case and character styles of headings as a function of their depth. But that's
about all.

Lists may be an exception worth more attention as a separate development. User
requirements vary from firing bullets at subordinates to the smooth but
stepwise presentation of a subtle

Hello there,I'm developing the android wear application using a Nexus 7
connected via Bluetooth to my pc to test and never encountered a problem.

I checked the source code referenced in the exception of your log file and I'm
pretty sure it's caused by a Bluetooth connectivity issue between the phone and
the pc and isn't related to the application(of course I could be wrong,I don't
have any experience troubleshooting code I didn't break myself).

Could you check if other Bluetooth applications work?

The old color pickers are still used all along the style edition dialogs.

An example from Writer:
* Open the "styles and formatting" sidebar
* Right-click anywhere on the list and select "new"
* You will find old color pickers in the following tabs: font effects, area,
borders.

Another example from Impress:
* Open the "styles and formatting" sidebar
* Right-click on "Title" from the list and select "modify"
* You will find old color pickers in the following tabs: line, area, shadow,

The bug occurs with all filled polygons or filled curve, whatever the method
used to create it:
- either with method of comment 1
- or Toolbar Drawing > Curve (or Lines) > Curve filled, or Polygon filled or
Polygon 45° filled or freeform line filled
- or draw a regular shape (rectangle, ellipse, basic shapes...) right click >
Convert > To polygon or To curve

1. Once your shape is created, it has now green handle.
2. Change fill color to black (NO bug with other colors).
=> OK the shape is correctly filled with black
3. Change filling to None
=> Bug: shape keeps its black filling
4. Click on black and drag the shape
=> When clicking on black, nothing should happen as there is no filling. But
shape is moved. On release, filling is updated to none. You can no more click
inside the shape
5. Change filling to Color, Black
=> Bug: shape stays without filling. You cannot click inside the shape
6. Move the shape
=> Black filling appears again

NO bug if some transparency is defined.
Bug appears only between these two states (None <=> Color Black). If you change
.SOC file, so Black is no more the first color (such as html.soc), the bug is
still only with Black color.
It seems that LibO get confused between no filling and (0,0,0) as code color.

Change can be made with toolbar, sidebar, or Format > Area dialog UI.

My hand made bibisection revealed:
- NO bug with LibO 4.0.6 RC2
- bug with Version: 4.1.0.0.alpha1
Build ID: 67ce08e2c64a6615abc90d3a3c442f90d86fa69

I enhance severity to Normal, as there is much more ways to be impacted by the
bug. A simple case: open PDF with Draw with some checkbox. If you want to fill
checkboxes with black, they appear empty.
