Thanks. Of course any cursor will cover the text it is over. If we make the
distance between pages larger it won't solve the problem because that space is
not fixed, it depends on the zoom. So one can zoom out enough and still
complain that the cursor covers the text. The current space size is chosen to
be small enough to hint at the break but to make the content look continuous.
Making it very large will be wasteful, and as mentioned depends on zooming.

Luckily, the mouse can be moved if it distracts the user :)

Hi Andrey!
I've tested on Gentoo Linux x86 with LO 5.0.3.2

It seems to me that this is a distro-specific issue, as Ubuntu is a rather
fatty distro for any applications.

In this case it's far better to Load a live-dvd cope on *Xubuntu* (15.10) and
to re-open these file to understand wheter DE affects the performance.

I'll make the ticket to "needinfo". If you're a user of UBuntu, you should try
on least resource-eating DE.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96969] New: Calc change entire column selection keyboard shortcut to Ctrl+Space

2016-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96969

Bug ID: 96969
Summary: Calc change entire column selection keyboard shortcut
to Ctrl+Space
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ovar...@gmail.com

This is a suggestion to change the entire column selection keyboard shortcut.

The current entire row selection is Ctrl+Shift+Space.

This suggestion is to change it to Ctrl+Space.

1. Accessibility improvement
2. Usability improvement
3. Entire row is only 2 keys, i.e. Shift+Space
4. Selecting all cells in a Sheet can then be the combination of entire row +
entire column keyboard shortcuts, i.e.
   a. Ctrl+Space {Selects entire column}
  Shift+Space{Selects entire Sheet}
   b. Shift+Space{Selects entire row}
  Ctrl+Space {Selects entire Sheet}
   c. Ctrl+Shift+Space   {Selects entire Sheet}

Perhaps this is an EasyHack?

Thank you

2016-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96971

Bug ID: 96971
   Summary: SetXORMode - remove un-needed parameter ...
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.0.1 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com

If you do a:

git grep -5 SetXORMode

in VCL - you'll see that the second parameter:

virtual void SetXORMode( bool bSet, bool bInvertOnly )

bInvertOnly - appears to only be implemented for OSX - and all the other
backends just use 'bSet' - to mean "XOR" vs. "Not XOR".

As such - it'd be great to go back through the callees and check that no-one is
really using bInvertOnly in anger, and then strip that parameter out of the
backend APIs, and also out of the VCL API in each instance; and ideally out of
any callers that use bInvertOnly.

That is - unless there is indeed a use-case for this =) (I suspect not).

Thanks !

Hi Bookman900,

I don't agree. Problem is still present with MacOSX El Capitan, not Marvericks.
and LibreOffice 4.4.7.2 (at my end). Reboot/ remove config didn't help. It's
more or less related to bug: 92898. Using Libreoffice 5.0.4.2 & El Capitan
10.10.1 it's a different story. Beachball's don't appear anymore.

There are two separate issues here. One is a 4.x regression where Z-order is
lost on open. This is what Michael bisected in comment 24. "all of the small
charts were on top of the large images when opening the original file
("arrangementTest2.v5.odt")"

Unfortunately, I cannot test this myself as all of the links to that file have
been removed.

PMouse,
Could you please put the file up on a more permanent location such as dropbox,
google drive, or some other file hosting services?

The other issue talked about in this thread appears to be a duplicate of Bug
41006 which goes back all the way to OOo.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74375] EDITING: Option to enable editing keys (cursor, Home, etc.) on first entry of text into cell

2016-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74375

I'm in favor of adding these options:

"Typing into a cell...

... works like Excel (default)
... does nothing (tap F2 to edit).

or

... enters editing mode (like double-click) and
... overwrites/replaces its content.
... puts the cursor where it was left off.
... puts the cursor at the end of content.
... puts the cursor at the start of content."

I agree it's an enhancement - not a bug.

As you might know a basic UI rule is the less modes the better. Modes are
harder for the brain to adapt to since habits will work against you (like
tapping Home or arrow left to fix a typo).

Excel's different editing modes are simply counter-intuitive but I see its
advantages when quickly entering several numbers (which I do quite rarely).

Hi Fedora 23

Version: 5.1.0.1
Build ID: bcace328aabc4c8c10b56daa87da0a2ee6579b5a
Threads 2; Ver: Linux 4.2; Render: default;

Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8)

And various flavours of LO5.0 under F22 & Windows 7

For work purposes I have been sent a DOCX document for review. Embedded are a
number of images. One of these images is not visible in LO - the image is there
but there is simply a few blue lines at the top and the rest is blank.

I opened the doc with XP and Word 2007 and the image is visible. I saved the
document as .DOC but again the image was not visible in LO.

Unfortunately this document is confidential so I can not post it here. Using
word though and clicking on the image reveals that it is a Visio file (of which
there are several in the docx document). Let me know if I can try and grab any
further info.

Test-case and comparison with WPS Office and MS Office

Context:
Format Accounting imported from Excel produces a space prefix and suffix (e.g.
"sales" => " sales ").
This is probably the expected behavior as the space prefix is clearly visible
in LibreOffice 10, Excel 2010 and WPC Office 2016 Beta.
Moreover, when the cell is copied into text format (e.g. in Windows Notepad),
the value with spaces is copied.

The LibreOffice Pivot table uses the formatted content converted to text ("
sales ") instead of the value itself ("sales"). This is clearly visible in the
Pivot table layout (see attached file).
The consequence is that formulas such as '=GETPIVOTDATA("sales",A1)' returns
"#REF!" because "sales" is not found (but '=GETPIVOTDATA(" sales ",A1)' work as
expected)

In Microsoft Excel 2013 and WPS Office 2016 Beta, the Pivot table is using the
original value and not the formatted content. Thus '=GETPIVOTDATA("sales",A1)'
returns the expected content.

Expected result:
PIVOT TABLE uses the raw column labels.

Actual result:
PIVOT TABLE uses the formatted column label.

Test-case to reproduce the issue:
See the attached file.

Intersting idea, Óvári..
I don't see a problem in it, but not sure if there isn't any.
What are people used to from other spread sheet applications?
As such, Ctrl+Shft+Space is not a problem. But indeed, Ctrl+Spase is indeed
easier..

Opinions?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for filing this one.
I see that is works fine (again) in a daily build
Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+

So it has been fixed in the mean time. Setting to WorksForMe.
You may want to check it too.

I do not find the issue related with the fix, so I can't check in which version
it will be included.

If the problem pops up again, then please reopen.

Cheers - Cor

SVG file generated from a Calc chart, Y-axis title orientation ambiguity

In Calc, create a chart with a Y-axis (e,g, column), and enter a Y-axis title.
Exit edit mode, right click the chart, select Export as Image, and save as SVG.
Opening the resulting file in different applications gets different outcomes:
in GIMP 2.8.10 and Image Viewer 3.10.2 the title is rendered correctly
(vertically), but in Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Firefox 43.0, Inkscape 0.91,
Opera 34.0, the y-axis title is rendered horizontally.

Example SVG file is attached.

   Version: 5.0.2.2 release

In Writer, select some text to add a hyperlink to. Select Insert > Hyperlink.
In 4.2.8.2, if the previous hyperlink was to a local file, then Document will
be selected, but in 5.0.4.2 it is not. So, select Document. The selected text
appears in the Text box under Further Settings in 4.2.8.2 but is erased on
selecting Document in 5.0.4.2. If the text box is left empty, on clicking OK
the path to the local file is substituted for the selected text, which is not
what is normally required.

It is possible to make this work by copying and pasting the selected text into
the Text box, but this requires several more actions than were needed in
4.2.8.2.

Rechecking this, what I wrote in comment 2 is only true for DOCX, in RTF we
don't even export the page background fill if it's just a solid color. I'll
take care of that, and I suggest to create follow-up bugs for the other fill

I purchase books from Wes Boyd in .rtf format. The title information, and
chapter headings are center justified. The problem is that opening them with LO
the center justification goes away, and everything that was center justified is
now left justified. It's intermittent; it doesn't happen every time now, but it
started with 4.4.4.1 rc, and as a result I've been converting the documents to
.odt and reformatting to restore the center justification to the bibliographic
information and chapter headings. Having center justification stripped upon
opening the file makes for poor .rtf compatibility.

Well, looking at the information in bug 94851 (if we believe this fixed it),
the fix should also be in 5.0.5.

The first release candidate for 5.0.5 should be out in a couple of weeks:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/5.0#5.0.5_release

However, there is a 32-bit daily build of 5.0.5 available:
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/libreoffice-5-0/Win-x86@62-merge-TDF/

You might install that daily build of 5.0.5 and see, if the problem is gone in
it as well.

If the problem is gone, you can set this as resolved duplicate of bug 94851.

Anyway, the opengl_blacklist_windows.xml file has been fixed now to have the
proper version number for that Intel driver
(90e1baf4ed1cf03bec430870d870ede0984f9adc), and *if* the code that parses the
version numbers would ever in the future again come across a version number
with more than four numbers (either from the system, or from some future error
in that .xml file), it won't access an array out of bounds (and potentially
crash, or worse) any longer (d12dcbcb61b1818c7ea58650fc06bf4aa04057cf).
Resolving this as fixed.

In the process of solving double accelerators (in the menu "Format" has been
minimum 3 double accelerators and 2 entries have been added too) there were
several changes necessary to find unused accelerators (in addition several menu
entries are used in Writer, Draw or Chart too and mus be considered).

I can understand your anger about changing accelerators. But such changes can't
be avoided to solve duplicate accelerators.

So I change the status to NOTABUG (because it is a feature).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96980] New: Line and page/table border drawing mismatch

2016-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96980

Bug ID: 96980
Summary: Line and page/table border drawing mismatch
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lrn1...@gmail.com

When i say "Line" i mean the "Line" tool from the drawing toolbar (also applies
to TextBox tool from that toolbar).

Bug (1)
Page border width is in "pt", one pt is 0.352(7)mm.
Minimal border width is 0.05pt (0.017635 mm).
   Border width granularity is 0.01pt.
Maximal border width is 9pt (3.175mm).

Line width is in "cm", one cm is 10mm.
Minimal line width is 0.01cm (0.1mm).
Line width granularity is 0.01cm (0.1mm).
Maximal line width is freaking big.

Meaning that:

A) it's very difficult to make the line width to be visibly equal to the page
border width, unless you choose a very specific size (like, 2.83pt page border
and, accordingly, 0.01cm line)

B) page borders can be much thinner than lines could ever be

C) lines can be much thicker than page borders could ever be

Bug (2)
Actual page border is drawn *inward* from the logical page border.
Actual line is drawn *through* the logical line.

This is obvious if you make really thick 9pt page border (say, 2cm space from
the left edge of the page) and then look at the horizontal ruler. The ruler
will tell you that the left edge of the thick black line of the border is
exactly 2cm away from the edge.
At the same time, if you create a line, set its PositionAndSize to be 2cm
ToTheLeft from the EntirePage, you'll see that the line center is 2cm away, not
its left edge.

Obviously, this is preferred behaviour for lines (as lines have no inherent
"inward" or "outward" edge). However, this also applies to the TextBox tool.
Text boxes *do* have inward and outward edges.

Tables also have inward and outward edges, *and* their borders are defined as
page borders - in pt, up to 9.00pt. However, table borders are drawn like lines
- squarely through the logical border, so that half the width is on one side,
and the other half is on the other side.

Possible fixes:

For (1) - Allow lines/borders to be defined in pt/cm respectively, with the
granularity and maximal width changed to match

For (2) - Add inward/outward/centered property to each line (for lines inward
would be right, outward would be left, relative to the direction of the line;
for textboxes it's obvious; defaults to centered). Add inward/outward/centered
property to page/table borders (defaults to inward for pages, centered for
tables).

Use-case: i want to place a textbox at the edge of my page and align it with
the page border. That has proven to be very difficult, because of the
border/line width discrepancy and because textbox line is drawn through the
textbox logical border while page border line is drawn along its inward logical
edge. When exported to PDF, i can clearly see that the box and the page borders
are not aligned (i would assume that printing it on paper wouldn't change
anything).

This applies to both 5.2.0.0.alpha0 and 5.0.4.2.

In 3.3.0 one can simply use Home/End. So it's a regression..

@joel: it looks a bit like that issue yes. I do not expect Impress and Calc use
the same editing code here.

Created attachment 121811

hanging punctuation after formula

I believe this sample to be a manifestation of the same problem. Only in this
instance the hanging punctuation comes after the Math object. The font used is
Times New Roman from MS Webpack.

Neither Tools->Update->Fields, nor ->Page Formatting has any effect on this.

The [397] in the preceding text was entered by hand, instead of auto-numbered
bibliography -- edits that do not cause the Math object to move in its line of
text, do not affect the hanging punctuation.

Some rounding error in widths calculation, or objects reporting to Writer the
incorrect (too small) width values?

At least, could someone knowledgeable advise on how to *find* all such
occurences, either programmatically or in the source XML, even??
I'll need this text soon.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96978] New: updating charts in a spread sheet I created for my own use.

2016-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96978

Bug ID: 96978
Summary: updating charts in a spread sheet I created for my own
use.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ka0...@icloud.com

my spreadsheet contains 5 charts. I recently revised three of them to add a new
data series. I inserted the revised charts using the provided chart wizard. Two
of my charts remain unchanged. There is no problem with the unchanged charts.
The new charts do not update correctly.

The old charts track five data series. The new charts track six data series.
Five of the data series in the new charts duplicate five data series in the old
charts. Only one data series in the new charts is new information.

One data series is common to all of the five charts. It is a date. I format
that date day month, year (i.e. 8 Dec, 15). The date information is moved from
a line at the top of my spread sheet to the first column in each of five data
tables. This is accomplished by an update macro I wrote for this related
purposes. I've used this macro in various iterations of my spreadsheet with
reasonable success over the last several years, dating back to Open Office.

Here is the problem. When I run the macro, after all of the new data is
properly in place, everything appears to function correctly; that is until I
look at the x axis data on the charts. On the two old charts the new date
appears and functions correctly. On the new charts the date information is
displayed as a five digit date code. (i.e. 42303 instead of the corresponding
date in October 2015).

I've tried a number of work arounds for this problem. All of them are a bit
cumbersome. Some of them were a complete waste of time. I finally hit on one
that is only somewhat inconvenient and yields a satisfactory result.

I go to the data table that one of the new charts tracks. I copy date
information from an earlier cell in the table and paste in place of the latest
date. Then I correct the data to reflect the latest date. That eliminates the
five digit code from the x axis, changing it to the date format I prefer. The I
copy and paste the new data to the data table for the other two affected
charts. At that point the problem is corrected until the next time I update the
spread sheet.

Please excuse the length of my description Of the problem. I prefer to be
thorough.
