What is the bug here? Seems to be a post for a forum or a mailinglist. No
detailed description of a bug.

Hint for the reporter: Right mouseclick on the name of the module at the bottom
of the editor will give you the possibility to rename the module.

Please write down a detailed description of one bug you found for each report.

I will set this bug to Resolved and Invalid.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104001] New: Text wrapping in writer on Linux is different to on Windows

2016-11-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104001

Bug ID: 104001
Summary: Text wrapping in writer on Linux is different to on
Windows
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ern...@bywater.net.au

Description:
Writer files in a 6 x 9 inch format I written in LO 5.2.2.2 on on Windows 7 Pro
system. When I open the same files in Ubuntu Linux using LO 5.2.2. with the
same page and paragraph parameters. Most of the time the text wraps the same,
but sometimes the wrapping is a bit different, thus it pushes a word over to
the next line, and eventually ends up adding a line to some paragraphs.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create file with formatted text in Windows 7 Pro. Have a long paragraph of
text in it.
2. Open file in Ubuntu Linux
3. Check the wrapping and spacing of the text.

Actual Results:
The long paragraph had an extra line due to a word in the sixth line being
forced to wrap into the seventh line, and so on down the paragraph, forcing two
words into a new line at the end of the paragraph.

Expected Results:
The paragraphs should display the same, because the parameter settings are the
same.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The problem often is an issue, but it also often forces enough extra lines to
push a line or two over to create a new page with a one or two line orphan.
This results in extra pages having to be printed, despite the original file
being carefully set and formatted. It can be worked around by rewording the
text, but this is not always a viable option.

This is a known limitation of the GDI rendering implemented with the new
HarfBuzz common text layout engine.

If you are able to activate OpenGL rendering the UI will be stable, but there
are some issues with OpenGL rendering particularly using the sm Math formula
editor.

Assigning a color to the outline is simple, but no method to then set the width
of the outline, nor to select a different color to fill the glyph.

Of course trivial to do in the FontWork feature, but limited in options for
font selection or to handle inline with other text.

Variables are adjusted to be non-italic in the Formula Editor

Format -> Fonts dialog... Modify -> Variables and uncheck Italic

Also, you can retain greek italic lower case by setting Tools -> Options ->
Advanced: Expert Configurations dialog and search for GreekCharStyle. Select it
and Edit -- set value to 2 from default of 0.

Lowercase greek letters will be Italic, uppercase will be regular.

The OpenSymbol font adjustments for bug 103740 will resolve the "plus" sign
issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103963] FILEOPEN: DOCX: Chart bars not imported

2016-11-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103963

I h've commited a tentative hack/fix to
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/30942/. I'm really not proud of it...

It should use the formula parser instead of this ugly hack but it's not
possible in that function and changing it to accept more parameters would break
the API (inheritance...). And it's only available in calc anyway, which is not
using this code path either.

Moreover, whenever you start to take data into account that you previously
ignored (the offset in this specific commit), you start to see some bugs that
were previously hidden. For instance, the second graph in the doc you attached
loads fine except that... there are now 11 empty leading cells as requested by
the file. Word is smart enough to trim that at draw time. I did not find where
to do this.

I'm out of luck... Trying to do well. Break even more :(

I'm definitively not an expert regarding LO code base. Could you point me
through ways to improve this ? Especially on how to trim the leading cells ?
I'm starting to wonder if we should not revert all this mess...

I meant, in the extension file that is uploaded at [1], the .dlc and .aff files
are in a directory called "dictionaries", and are referenced via that path in
dictionaries.xcu. Move those files in the root of the archive, and get rid of
that directory in the future, please.

In the meantime, CHANGELOG.md has been added to the patch.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103999

Bug ID: 103999
Summary: I wanted to try BASIC -- almost gave up
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: BASIC
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rich...@kandarian.com

None of the introductory documentation I could find on the IDE describes how to
get it running! I can't find it in the help either.

I finally find a post on a forum that instructs how to customize the menu and I
try that and it works! Is that the ONLY way to get it running?

Not that I'm FINALLY in the IDE I want to change "Modjule 1" do something
meaningful so I right click on it in that pane on the left nothing.

So more googling and I find "Tools > Macros > Organize Macros > Libreoffice
Basic..." (that last is a single item sub=menu) That's 5 clicks so far to get
to a dialog which contains the same info as on the laft pane of the top level,
but I can't rename the module there either! I have to click on the
"Organizer..." button too! That's 6 clicks. Now, in order to change the name of
"Module 1" I need to click it twice, but NOT a double click...

I'm now thinking that this can only be the result of brain damage.

I'm not looking forward to using BASIC in LibreOffice. I'm expecting an
absolutely horrible experience. I might even give up before I start.

When text is typed in Writer, Impress, Draw and Calc, the system represents the
glyphs with a different metrica, than the cursos indicate... In Writer, with

The problem becomes very annoying and does not allow editing the documents

"LibreOffice should be based on specifications of the PDF."

Do not see that as a valid concern, and it is not clear it is our ethical
responsibility to implement as our handling of PDF import is via poppler/cairo.

We do not open a PDF for editing--we filter parse its contents via poppler for
use in our standard object formats. Little removed from scanning and OCR of the
PDF.

Imported via filter I do not believe we are under any obligation to retain the
limitations of the original PDF--as we are not editing it!

When we export back to a new PDF, we may then impose security (via signature),
but the original PDF remains unchanged.

LibreOffice is _not_ a PDF editor

Hi. The drop caps effect makes the initial capital letter occupy more than one
line DOWN. I would like to suggest that it could also occupy more than one line
UP. You see this in many books, for example.
It could also be done the same way you define the letter size, font, style,
etc., but WITHOUT making bigger the spacing between it and the line below, so
the spacing between lines could always be the same.

Don't know, why the brackets are not showing for you.

With DirectWrite based OpenGL rendering I still see the badly scaled OpenSymbol
glyphs clipped to the bounding box of the node. With reworked default GDI
rendering the glyphs are scaled to their bounding boxes.

Deselect OpenGL and retest as the default rendering alone is intended to
provide correct rendering with the new HarfBuzz layout. OpenGL rendering needs
some work. Additional comments in bug 100746

No, no, no :P The bug is about this: when you do all that border jazz *with the
toolbar button*, then save, then reload, the border changes to the two line
style. There is no need to copy & paste the file anywhere.
When you use the table properties dialog, the 8th style is double already in
the selector and what you see is what you get - no need to reload.

I have a distinct memory of testing this before and I tried a hundred different
ways of searching through our reports, but unfortunately nothing turned up.

Hoping Jay has experience with this.

No no, I'm afraid it's not at all about that (although I DO think that the menu
selection for border styles should numbered, as it is very confusing to
remember what style is what - but that is a secondary issue).

This bug is about this: When you make a table, and set the border style of that
table to number 8 (see above), then save that file, then copy/paste the file
into a new folder, then open that NEW (result-of-a-paste) file, the border
style in this new document will be visually different. It will be a two line

There's one thing you cannot do in LibreOffice, and would be awesome if you
could do it.
You choose a color to some text, you choose the "outline" effect, and the text
color then becomes the outline color, while the inside space becomes
white...but I would like to choose the color for the inside space as well, and
I can't do it! I would like to, let's say, make the text green with a red
outline. Can you guys make this improvement?

Some characters go over the line, like the ps and the gs. Wouldn't it be cool
to have an underline option which could "stop" a really small distance before
the place where the character crosses the line and then "continue" a small
distance after that place? I don't mean to stop when it hits the entire
character's place, because that would seem too "unnatural" to the desired
effect...

option FontScaling is not available in Expert Config for 5.3, but in LO 5.2
there is option User interface > Scaling in dialogue tools > options >
libreoffice > view

why delete it from 5.3?

Maybe try with a fresh 5.3: it has a new font engine.

No problem here.

Rainer: maybe you could try launching a WinDbg session and when it hangs, give
this command in the WinDbg input field:
~*kp

I'm not a debugging expert, but Stuart has recommended that one for hangs &
freezes. It might provide a useful backtrace.

We haven't added that tip to the article yet, but for general reference:

Yes correct, as in bug 100182 it was broken during 5.2 development (2015-11-25)
and a dataloss regression affecting the 5.2.0 -> 5.2.1 releases.

Patched by

and is correct now with 5.2.2+ release, as well for dev builds of master/5.3.0
after 2016-09-01.

You should be fine if you install current 5.2.3.3 release

Comment on attachment 128826
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=128826
On page 137 there's Alphabetical Index. If you update it, it goes away.

Additional context: this document was saved with LibreOffice 5.2.1.2 Windows
x64. I had been working on it for, well, over a year, on previous versions of
LibreOficce (5.1.3.2 for example). When I updated to 5.2.1.2, upon saving this
and any of my documents, closing and reopening, Alphabetical Indexes are lost.
The problem on this file can be verified using other versions of LibreOffice
(I'm using 5.1.3.2 now). Just open the document and try to update the
Alphabetical Index, all entries disappear. Thus I'm thinking the problem is in
saving the file on 5.2.1.2, because the Index itself was created with an
earlier version of the program, then saved several times, no problem, then
after saved once on 5.2.1.2, when reopened on any version of LibreOffice I
tried, Index is gone.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103994] New: cut paste for xlsx source reference changes location formula

2016-11-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103994

Bug ID: 103994
Summary: cut paste for xlsx source reference changes location
formula
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mdw...@yahoo.com

Description:
If a calc spreadsheet references a cell in an xlsx source file, when that
reference is cut and pasted to a new location in the same spreadsheet, the xlsx
source cell it refers to changes.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an xlsx file with some numbers in it and save (source.xlsx).
2. Create a new spreadsheet and at A1, reference (=) one of the cells filled in
the xlsx source, e.g., ='file:///home/user/Documents/source.xlsx'#$Sheet1.A1
3. Cut this cell and paste to a different location say, B1
4. The formula that is pasted is relative not absolute, e.g.,
='file:///home/user/Documents/source.xlsx'#$Sheet1.B1

Actual Results:
The reference that has been cut and pasted has changed the source cell it links
to. In the reproducible example, cutting a reference from A1 and pasting to B1
changes the formula from pointing to A1 in the source sheet to B1 in the source
sheet.

Expected Results:
Cut and Paste has always previously been absolute, not relative. Copy and paste
is expected to be relative not cut and paste.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Using ubuntu 16.04 on an hp2540p. Don't think that matters though.

As stated, unfortunately I don't have version 5.2.1.2 of the program anymore,
because I need Writer for production. On my current bugless version, the
problem doesn't happen, and your file displays correctly.

I can provide a file saved on 5.2.1.2 where there was an Alphabetical Index and
all entries were lost upon close-reopen. Here.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103993] New: Include support for epub format FILEOPEN, FILESAVE, VIEWING

2016-11-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103993

Bug ID: 103993
Summary: Include support for epub format FILEOPEN, FILESAVE,
VIEWING
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: c...@computer.org

Description:
Writer currently supports multiple file formats in addition to its native ODT,
such as DOC, DOCX, RTF, etc. It would be advantageous to include support for
EPUB file format, so that Writer can open, edit, and create ebooks with ease.

Actual Results:
Writer does not support the epub file format.

Expected Results:
It would be nice to open epub files with Writer, and to choose "epub" as a
format in the Save As dialog.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Hmm, well on my computer it works, but feel free to reopen the bug. Some more
information of your configuration would be useful.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103992] New: FILESAVE: Saving a plain text document via “Save As” but with a different encoding doesn’t work.

2016-11-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103992

Bug ID: 103992
Summary: FILESAVE: Saving a plain text document via “Save As”
but with a different encoding doesn’t work.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: s_i_m_...@zoho.com

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a document in Writer.

2. Save the document as a plain text file with e.g. UTF-8 encoding (choose
Save, specify a format of “Text – Choose Encoding (.txt)”. In the following
“Confirm File Format” dialog, confirm intent by clicking “Use Text – Choose
Encoding Format”. In the subsequent “ASCII Filter Options” dialog, choose
“Unicode (UTF-8)”).

3. Try to save a copy of the document with a different encoding (e.g. UTF-16)
by choosing “Save As”, specifying a new filename and format of “Text – Choose
Encoding (.txt)”. This time the “Confirm File Format” and “ASCII Filter
Options” dialogs do not appear and the file is saved with its current format,
UTF-8. The dialogs should appear so as to allow a different encoding to be
specified.

However, the following do work as expected:
1. Choosing “Save As” and specifying a format other than “Text – Choose
Encoding (.txt)” does result in a file with the correct format.

2. Choosing “Save a Copy” rather than “Save As” and specifying the “Text –
Choose Encoding (.txt)” format does produce the subsequent dialogs, allowing a
different encoding to be specified.

Compare MSO and LO 4.2-4.4-5.3+

"Document based" bugs are not likely ever be solved and here we should have
"issue based" bugs.
This can be either word wrapping or some of the visual differences.

I suggest wrapping be closed as a duplicate of Bug 62422.
Gradient looked better in 4.2 and it may be another regression bug, please
search.
Personally, I don't even see border and shadow and it doesn't seem relevant to
me.

It seems to me that the qualification of cell references after
copy-and-paste is not clearly wrong. However, I note that if the
program has qualified cell references other than those is Sheet2.C1,
the other references remain qualified after .

I have bibisected in the Linux 44max bibisect repository on
debian-sid; to summarize the results ...

commits-h references after cut-and-paste
    --
feed1c07 52d21ee6 Sheet2.C1 and Sheet1.C2 unqualified
7c055d90 5e55d5ff Sheet2.C1 qualified, Sheet1.C2 unqualified
93992fcd 5b7920ee Sheet2.C1 qualified, Sheet1.C2 unqualified
1b5ce0c2 31abf4ce Sheet2.C1 and Sheet1.C2 qualified

Details coming soon.

I am removing keyword bibisectRequest and adding bisected, and I am
adding Matthew Francis to cc.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103927] filter:xlsx LibreOffice crashes when importing XLSX file

2016-11-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Hi Aaron - the crash looks like some pure ColorListBox issue - nearly
un-related to Calc =) It looks typical of an exception getting thrown during
the creation of the object - is it possible to put a breakpoint into:
ColorListBox::ColorListBox -- and then catch all exceptions from then on ? -
would need a build with symbols of course
