[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 105685] [UI] String badly translated: Notebookbar → Ribb =?UTF-8?Q?on=20?=( Cinta in Spanish)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105685 --- Comment #2 from haevalen...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Adolfo Jayme from comment #1) > I thing you’re mixing up some things: > > MUFFIN is out new UI concept which entails several configurable UI > arrangements, comprising the single toolbar modes, the Notebookbar, the > Sidebar and the traditional toolbars; that term is not translated. > That is what the press has done a very bad job confusing the users more. The translation in part justifies the confusion. > “Notebookbar”, in English, is used to refer specifically to our ribbon-like > arrangement, which is implemented with the GtkNotebook widget of the Gtk+ > toolkit, hence the name. > I have read the last post that refer to MUFFIN and I dont see references to Ribbon UI in a Notebookbar component as a design paradigm or something similar. If I did, I would not have written this report. Like the press, focusing on a single element in its entirety, greatly limits the concept vision that is intended to deliver as very similar as it seems to be. https://design.blog.documentfoundation.org/2017/01/16/diy-ui-how-to-create-your-own-notebookbar/ > It is translated as “cinta” in Spanish because that is what it is in > essence, even though our implementation differs from others in several > fundamental ways. In essence NotebookBar can be Ribbon and a lot of other things. How can a single vision be representative of everything? Even "Notebookbar contextual single" moves away from what is Ribbon (using microsoft as a reference). So "Cinta - Barra única contextual" is bad < The word was chosen because it is the most representative Notebookbar doesnt try to imitate Ribbon and is more than Ribbon, so the translation is not representative. > one for users that migrate from Microsoft Office or other office suites that > use it. The “ribbon” is, of course, not a UI paradigm invented by Microsoft, > but they popularized it as one part of their UI redesign of Office 2007 and > named it so. > I understand but I dont think it is an essential part of the discussion. The criteria must be based on the project and not think of third party software as a rule. > If you can give me a replacement that is: > > - Short > - Understandable > - Representative of the thing it refers to > Based on the reading on MUFFIN and Notebookbar I think it is more representative using: - (barra dinámica): Dynamic bar represents the flexibility that Notebookbar delivers when grouping functions. - (barra contenedora): Container bar - (barra contextual) My favorite. Contextual Bar is very representative of the functions that Notebookbar delivers, since in contrast to the classic toolbars, a contextual bar is dynamic and allows grouping functions dynamically based on a given context on the same canvas, which is part of its essence (As opposed to a contextual toolbar). In this way, there are currently 3 variants of notebookbar based on some context (in tabs, grouped or single bar). A more consistent translation of the "interface layout" would be (spanish proposal) -Predeterminado -Barra única -Barra lateral -Barra contextual - En grupos - En Barra única o Barra única - En pestañas > … I’ll change it. That includes > comments, bookmarks, changes etc., in general everything that is related to > a certain page. I would disagree with jamming everything into the navigator, specially when the intent is to adapt various existing modal dialogs (spelling, track changes, etc) functionality into the sidebar. Navigator should focus on jumping to various elements within the document, but jumping to every spelling mistake and every track change would be crazy. https://design.blog.documentfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2016/07/20160730_Writer.png > If we put the various functions in extra decks it will > quickly clutter the sidebar tabs. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 105694] New: Misspelled Hebrew word causes writer to hang/crash
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105694 Bug ID: 105694 Summary: Misspelled Hebrew word causes writer to hang/crash Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.1.6.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: rellieber...@gmail.com Description: Misspelling a word in Hebrew when spell check is on results in writer hanging for several seconds. You simply have to wait for several long seconds until the word is determined as misspelled. At that point writer usually returns to life, but sometimes crashes and shuts down. In some cases trying to change spell checking settings in the 'spelling and grammar' dialogue also resulted in a long hand and often a crash. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Run libreoffice on a windows machine with hebrew available (I reproduced this on about five different computers all running Hebrew version of windows, and had a new installation of libreoffice in Hebrew. I did not download a separate Hebrew dictionary, so can it be libreoffice is using one that comes with windows?) 2.make sure spell checking is on. 3.Begin typing a misspelled word, try שךדףגלכח. 4.Press space. Actual Results: After pressing space libreoffice hangs till the misspelled word is determined as such, only then one can resume working on document (if writer has not totally crashed). Expected Results: The automatic spell checking should no make writer hang, it should happen instantly without affecting user ability to work on his document, as its done in English. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100018] FORMATTING: copying/ pasting text into footnote changes formatting to 'standard' instead of ' footnote'
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100018 --- Comment #4 from niall.cavan...@ymail.com --- Just to confirm that the issue persists in Version: 5.3.0.3 Build ID: 7074905676c47b82bbcfbea1aeefc84afe1c50e1 Running on Windows 7 64bi8t. The issue: In Writer, if a footnote (or endnote) is inserted and text is pasted in, the format in that footnote entry changes from Footnote to whatever format was in the copied text (usually Default in my case). This also removes the tab whitespace between the number and the text in the footnote. As noted above, the workaround is to insert a space character before doing CTRL-V, or to use CTRL-SHIFT-V and select "Unformatted text". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

After I have checked the check sums of the packages I have installed it in my openSUSE Leap 42.2. This is my second LibreOffice installation, because before this installation I have already installed on the same computer LibreOffice 5.2.5.1 downloaded from the The Document Foundation site. This installation works just fine, contrary to my LibreOffice 5.3.0 installation. The problem is visible when I try to start the LibreOffice 5.3.0 while LibreOffice 5.2.5.1 is not started. During the LibreOffice 5.3 starting I saw on the screen the initial green picture with LibreOffice 5 logo for a econd and after it it disappear without any notification.
