[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108210] New: Can' t open file for editing if there is a lingering lock file from a different user
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108210 Bug ID: 108210 Summary: Can't open file for editing if there is a lingering lock file from a different user Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha1+ Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu If there are two users in the system, one edits a file, but doesn't exit cleanly and the lock file remains, trying to open it with a different user shows the usual dialog, but with the following possible actions (normally the middle option is "Open", and the text is slightly different, in this case it includes the other user's name): "Open Read-Only", "Open Copy", "Cancel". Basically LO still thinks the file is open by a different user. The easiest way to repro is to: - save a lock file while the file is open, - edit it with a text editor manually by replacing the user name in the first field with a different one (it's in ",Computer/User," form), - place it next to the original file when the file is not opened, and open it again. Another way (tested in Windows 7): - create a different user in the system, set a password for it, - start LO with that user by shift-right-clicking soffice.exe and selecting Run as different user, - open a file, - kill LO in task manager, - start LO with the first user, and try to open the same file again. Reproduced with 5.3.3.2 & 3.3.0 / Windows 7. Not sure whether it affects Linux, it likely does, but I haven't checked. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107965] Formatting Commands Fail with Multiple Cells
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107965 --- Comment #12 from Kevin--- All right - I think I figured this most recent problem out. When you had me delete my user profile I'd forgotten about the auto-input feature. Typing "o" made it think I'd wanted a string of text starting with "o". When I turned off auto-input it stopped adding the string of text. So now we're back to the core problem, which is that Calc fails repeatedly to obey the most basic premise of computing: 1. show the computer your selection 2. ask the computer to perform an operation on that selection Almost all of the reports I've submitted are variations on this core failing of the UI. The most recent time Calc made me so angry that I went back to Excel, I also noticed that Excel is WAY WAY better at handling large files. I can zoom in and out with my large spreadsheet, select all, copy and paste and so on with Excel with no problems. Calc 5.3.3.2 gets very very sluggish with this large document. That said, other problems of Excel drove me back once again. Guess we could define an icon for "every" ISO 4217:2015 locale/currency--but doing it once per build at compile time with the ICU libraries, if possible, seems more maintainable. Maybe adding a full set of appropriate glyphs (to match the ICU mappings to Currency code/number) for the currency symbols to OpenSymbol would provide a common graphic to style against--and would allow us to localize the button. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99278 --- Comment #3 from Regina Henschel--- A page break after is done by a fo:break-after attribute. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106021] FORMATTING: Writer does not accept CSS box model for paragraphs

LibreOffice and all older versions down to OpenOffice.org 1.1.5 render the background of the padding rectangle in to bottom margin, if the following paragraph has the same style. Because the users, who have created documents with this versions and have used that feature would complain, if the rendering is now different, I think, that we need a different solution. Perhaps we can add an attribute in ODF 1.3, that allows to fill the area between the paragraph with the background of the padding rectangle. Values might be "equal" to cover LibreOffice way of handling it, and "always" to cover Microsoft way, and "CSS" to conform to CSS, which would result in always transparent margin. I will attach some screenshots, how other applications render the attached file. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

So Firebird already has a working notion & implementation of "character". So definitely, yes, I'd say that the right place to fix that is Firebird. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108205] New: PDF EXPORT with filling of transparency color in a frame change whole page in jpeg
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108205 Bug ID: 108205 Summary: PDF EXPORT with filling of transparency color in a frame change whole page in jpeg Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.4.0.3 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: mikael_monn...@hotmail.com Description: A frame with any value of transparency ( but 0%) in a page affect the export aspect of the whole page. The page is transform into an image. As result : 1-The text is an image ( in pdf selecting text is impossible ) 2-The size of the resulting pdf differ according to the image export options of the export pdf formular. Under certain circumstances only part of the page, at the level of the frame is affected by the transformation in an image. It is more likely to be an artefact of the algorithm which transform the frame with transparency into an image: everything that is in reach of the frame, as a whole paragraph ( even if only a part of it is under the frame ) is transform into an image. Which is quiet unexpected I have 2 files as examples: 1) the first files affected 2) a simple reproduction of the bug Steps to Reproduce: 1. some text in a page 2. a frame with color filling with transparency above 0% ( plain color with X% transparency or gradient ) 3. pdf export ( with jpeg compression : ex: 30% 75 dpi ) Actual Results: Frame with transparency becomes images in pdf ! and The text in it is an image ! The resulting pdf file is partially transform into an image nearby the frame. Expected Results: Text in frame as normal text. Text in file as a normal text. Transparency or color gradient as object not as image. As workaround : 1 ) a flat image as background ( with or without text) 2 ) above the text in transparency ( or 1% shade of police color ) Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: User-Agent: Windows / Firefox 50: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Hmm.. Right. > I'd just let it be, and let the Firebird "misfeature" bubble up. A length of > 5 in the GUI should be a VARCHAR(5) in Firebird. If firebird understands > that as 5 bytes, then so be it. A length of 5 in the GUI is a VARCHAR(5) in Firebird, which allocates 20 bytes (as long as the character set is UTF-8). The problem is rather the following: Firebird truncates the input string at 20 bytes no matter how many characters it contains. I think it's a bug in Firebird (but I couldn't find it in the bug tracker). > Maybe a middle ground would be to use UTF16 instead of UTF8 and let the > length be UTF16 code units (that is length 5 is 10 bytes), if that's > possible with Firebird. This is still a bug, but confusing character and > UTF16 code units is so common that it usually not perceived as a bug. In my > opinion, if this gives as a result that LENGTH(field) is in bytes and not in > UTF16 code units, it is inconsistent and not desirable.
