So I believe we had agreement that italics is a good thing so how do we move
this forward. Of course this fix shouldnt affect Writer Web which requires
Quotations to be without italics.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108210] New: Can' t open file for editing if there is a lingering lock file from a different user

2017-05-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108210

Bug ID: 108210
Summary: Can't open file for editing if there is a lingering
lock file from a different user
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha1+
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu

If there are two users in the system, one edits a file, but doesn't exit
cleanly and the lock file remains, trying to open it with a different user
shows the usual dialog, but with the following possible actions (normally the
middle option is "Open", and the text is slightly different, in this case it
includes the other user's name):
"Open Read-Only", "Open Copy", "Cancel".

Basically LO still thinks the file is open by a different user.

The easiest way to repro is to:
- save a lock file while the file is open,
- edit it with a text editor manually by replacing the user name in the first
field with a different one (it's in ",Computer/User," form),
- place it next to the original file when the file is not opened, and open it
again.

Another way (tested in Windows 7):
- create a different user in the system, set a password for it,
- start LO with that user by shift-right-clicking soffice.exe and selecting Run
as different user,
- open a file,
- kill LO in task manager,
- start LO with the first user, and try to open the same file again.

Reproduced with 5.3.3.2 & 3.3.0 / Windows 7.
Not sure whether it affects Linux, it likely does, but I haven't checked.

Just managed to reproduce this with an old Matrox Millennium P690, so it's not
remote-desktop-only.

Still only a few pieces of text is missing, like in the screenshot, and not all
the text, like in bug 107166 (though the two bugs could still be caused by the
same change).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107965] Formatting Commands Fail with Multiple Cells

2017-05-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107965

All right - I think I figured this most recent problem out. When you had me
delete my user profile I'd forgotten about the auto-input feature. Typing "o"
made it think I'd wanted a string of text starting with "o". When I turned off
auto-input it stopped adding the string of text. So now we're back to the core
problem, which is that Calc fails repeatedly to obey the most basic premise of
computing:

1. show the computer your selection

2. ask the computer to perform an operation on that selection

Almost all of the reports I've submitted are variations on this core failing of
the UI.

The most recent time Calc made me so angry that I went back to Excel, I also
noticed that Excel is WAY WAY better at handling large files. I can zoom in and
out with my large spreadsheet, select all, copy and paste and so on with Excel
with no problems. Calc 5.3.3.2 gets very very sluggish with this large
document.

That said, other problems of Excel drove me back once again. I have a slogan
for you: "LibreOffice - the lesser of evils"

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108209] New: Autofill overwrites data

2017-05-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108209

Bug ID: 108209
   Summary: Autofill overwrites data
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: pedl...@gmail.com

Created attachment 133684
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=133684=edit
Simple spreadsheet with data to test autofill error

To autofill a column with a value/string the user can double click on the small
square on the bottom right corner of the cell selection. This should fill the
cells down as far the next/previous column or until a filled cell is reached.

LibreOffice (as did/does OpenOffice.org/AOO) ignores cells containing
values/strings and overwrites all column causing data loss.

How to replicate

1)In the attached file select cell A1 and double click on the small square on
the bottom right corner of the cell selection.

Observed: Column A is filled with letter A until cell A10 thus overwriting
information in cells A7 and A10
Expected: Column A is filled with letter A until cell A6

If Calc behaved as expected, after Step 1 selecting cell A7 and repeating the
double click should result in cells A1 to A6 containing A, cells A7 to A9
containing B and cell A10 containing C

This is what is expected based on how other spreadsheets (e.g. Gnumeric, Excel)
perform.

This was tested with LibreOffice 5.3.2.2 x64 and x86 (but also with AOO 4.1.3
and LO 3.3.4) under Windows 10 x64

Can not confirm, both 5.3.3.2 and 5.2.7.2 builds install and run cleanly on
Windows 10 Pro (or Home) v1703 64-bit or 32-bit.

Please be sure to clear your user profile %APPDATA%\LibreOffice and try again.

Also, since you are on 64-bit Windows did you clean install LibreOffice, or was
it a carry over of the old install? And, is the version of LibreOffice 32-bit
or 64-bit?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107965] Formatting Commands Fail with Multiple Cells

2017-05-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107965

Here are three steps, each with an attached JPG (step-1, step-2, step-3.jpg)
that show unequivocal corruption. Before doing these steps I deleted the user
profile and rebooted the computer. Each step is shown with a jpg.

1. click cell K2695
observe: there is nothing in the formula bar - the cell is empty
2. type "o"
observe: an "o" and nothing else appears in the formula bar
3. type space bar
expected: an "o" and a space should appear in the formula bar
actual: a whole string of text (from another cell that has not been accessed in
any way since the PC was rebooted) appears.

This problem occurs with some but not all of the cells in the document.

I am done trying to help improve this program if you don't take this seriously,
realizing how many millions of your users will be opening Microsoft Excel
documents. This is REALLY messed up.

2017-05-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101317

This is most definitely not a problem with PHP and I don't think it has
anything to do with the order in which the files are compressed.

In Python:

import magic

magic.Magic(mime=True).from_file("test.xlsx")
'application/octet-stream'

Or using `file` on the command line:

$ file --mime-type test.xlsx
test.xlsx: application/octet-stream

This file was created using LibreOffice Calc 5.2.7.2

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100849] Currency icon is har =?UTF-8?Q?dcoded=20to=20=E2=80=9C=24=E2=80=9D?=, which is inappropriate to locales not using dollars

Understand the reluctance, but frankly the generic "bank note"
taxes-finances.svg is even less readable than the old "piles of coins".

Guess we could define an icon for "every" ISO 4217:2015 locale/currency--but
doing it once per build at compile time with the ICU libraries, if possible,
seems more maintainable.

Maybe adding a full set of appropriate glyphs (to match the ICU mappings to
Currency code/number) for the currency symbols to OpenSymbol would provide a
common graphic to style against--and would allow us to localize the button.
Also for locales without single graphical currency symbol, to pre-compose the
preferred currency symbol and use as PUA addressed Unicode.

Kevin, thanks for your replies.
I tested your files but I have to pass -- I'm no xlsx specialist and couldn't
interpret the ods file. There's always the possibility for problems when
converting files or when working with different programs. Some of them are
weird.
Maybe another one can help finding a cause or categorize the problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99278] Enable adding page break style options to position After in Format > Paragraph

2017-05-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99278

A page break after is done by a fo:break-after attribute. That does not have
any page style information. The only way to force a page style is the attribute
style:master-page-name. But that generates a page break before the paragraph
which uses it.

Find the specifications in 20.177, 20.178 and 19.497. ODF 1.2, part 1.
Notice in addition the discussion about
https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-2103 in the issue and on the TC

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108206] New: Paragraph drop down menu control should display " Default Style" or "Text Body" by default

2017-05-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 108206
Summary: Paragraph drop down menu control should display
"Default Style" or "Text Body" by default
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.5.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com
Blocks: 107833

If the intent of 'Text Body' is that it should be used by default for
paragraphs, then we shouldnt show 'Default Style' in the paragraph drop down
menu control and we should change the default template to have it set to 'Text
Body'.

Alternatively, we should remove 'Text Body' from the drop down menu as it is
identical to 'Default Text' except for 0.1" below paragraph spacing and to
users this would be redundant.

Example with different and with same paragraph style

The problem is a rendering problem. LibreOffice and all older versions down to
OpenOffice.org 1.1.5 render the background of the padding rectangle in to
bottom margin, if the following paragraph has the same style.

Because the users, who have created documents with this versions and have used
that feature would complain, if the rendering is now different, I think, that
we need a different solution. Perhaps we can add an attribute in ODF 1.3, that
allows to fill the area between the paragraph with the background of the
padding rectangle. Values might be "equal" to cover LibreOffice way of handling
it, and "always" to cover Microsoft way, and "CSS" to conform to CSS, which
would result in always transparent margin.

I will attach some screenshots, how other applications render the attached
file.

So Firebird already has a working notion & implementation of "character". So
definitely, yes, I'd say that the right place to fix that is Firebird. Just
file it as a bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108205] New: PDF EXPORT with filling of transparency color in a frame change whole page in jpeg

2017-05-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108205

Bug ID: 108205
Summary: PDF EXPORT with filling of transparency color in a
frame change whole page in jpeg
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mikael_monn...@hotmail.com

Description:
A frame with any value of transparency ( but 0%) in a page affect the export
aspect of the whole page. The page is transform into an image. As result :
1-The text is an image ( in pdf selecting text is impossible )
2-The size of the resulting pdf differ according to the image export options of
the export pdf formular.

Under certain circumstances only part of the page, at the level of the frame is
affected by the transformation in an image.
It is more likely to be an artefact of the algorithm which transform the frame
with transparency into an image: everything that is in reach of the frame, as a
whole paragraph ( even if only a part of it is under the frame ) is transform
into an image. Which is quiet unexpected

I have 2 files as examples:
1) the first files affected
2) a simple reproduction of the bug

Steps to Reproduce:
1. some text in a page
2. a frame with color filling with transparency above 0%
( plain color with X% transparency or gradient )
3. pdf export ( with jpeg compression : ex: 30% 75 dpi )

Actual Results:
Frame with transparency becomes images in pdf ! and The text in it is an image
!
The resulting pdf file is partially transform into an image nearby the frame.

Expected Results:
Text in frame as normal text.
Text in file as a normal text.
Transparency or color gradient as object not as image.
As workaround :
1 ) a flat image as background ( with or without text)
2 ) above the text in transparency ( or 1% shade of police color )

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

doing of export the slide names, as we dont display the slide names by default
and users are not likely to rename them (also you cant rename them in

Think we'd be looking at what ICU provides to parse the font symbols against
the ISO 4217:2015 currency codes and currency number--either getName() or
getSymbol() by locale

http://userguide.icu-project.org/formatparse/numbers
http://www.icu-project.org/apiref/icu4j/index.html?com/ibm/icu/util/Currency.html

While for Android, Google provides their own getSymbol()

So guess this is more than just lack of D2Write support for Windows XP with the
new rendering engine.

Seeing the same on a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit en-US with the Goda (Graphite)
installed to system with:
Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha1+
Build ID: 774f033f86b3728123842321f21b10b400cf6b9a
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 6.19; UI render: default;
TinderBox: Win-x86@39, Branch:master, Time: 2017-05-16_02:20:51
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: CL

Would note there are a lot of the diacritics defined in this font using Unicode
9 reserved codepoints for Kannada, e.g. U+0cbb, U+0cd1, U+0cd2 --not sure
though if that would have any bearing on the Graphite combining characters
failing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108108] Impress: unable to insert video

Thanks for the suggestion, tried it and no difference. OpenOffice has the same
behaviour (as you'd expect I guess). But in Linux all is well (various
distros), so obviously a driver/codec problem. A Linux created presentation
with embedded video also displays properly on Android. So shame on you Windows
10!

Hmm.. Right.

A length of 5 in the GUI is a VARCHAR(5) in Firebird, which allocates 20 bytes
(as long as the character set is UTF-8).

The problem is rather the following:
Firebird truncates the input string at 20 bytes no matter how many characters
it contains.

I think it's a bug in Firebird (but I couldn't find it in the bug tracker).

There are two kind of length functions (actually there are three of them):
char_length and octet_length[1]

and they are working as expected.
