[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122943] Opening a Style dialog's Highlighting/Area tabs adds properties to the property set in the style

2019-01-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122943

(In reply to Jim Raykowski from comment #2)
> Strange, I can't repro this for any of the tabs using current master build.

Just tested with master build 3c2cd4829229a312e79cfba3971b954bd605681c, and I
can repro with Highlighting/Area tabs. The Alignment and Border tabs were fixed
by Caolán in bug 122914.

In some cases, the reproducibility of the problem could depend on used units
(so that some chosen units could roundtrip values accurately, so the problem
could get unnoticed) - bit as for Area's None section, this is not the case,
and it should be reproducible always, since the mentioned commit puts the
property into the set unconditionally.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

And maybe also go with the MS approach with two spin edits, so one can split a
cell in whatever vertical and horizontal cells in one go?
The bug has "needsUXEval" for some reason.
Next person wants to change the default number of cells.

OTOH I don't care much and have no idea what the "default" user would expect.
Almost feels like bike-shedding...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 123003] New: nested for-next loops: outer increment is wrong after leaving inner loop with "exit for"

2019-01-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123003

Bug ID: 123003
Summary: nested for-next loops: outer increment is wrong after
leaving inner loop with "exit for"
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: BASIC
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: uwe.schmiede...@gmx.de

Description:
Loop count error:
after the inner loop is left using "exit for" the stmt "next ii" below will
increment the inner loop counter "jj" instead of "ii"!

function endOfSheet
for ii = 100 TO 16000
if oSheet.getCellRangeByName("A" & ii).String = "" then
   ' 20 Zeilen rückwärts suchen:
   for jj = 1 to 101
 if oSheet.getCellRangeByName("A" & (ii-jj)).String <> "" then
if jj > 20 then
   endOfSheet = ii-jj+1
   exit function
end if
exit for ' * THIS CAUSES THE ERROR!!! (see above)
 endif
   next jj
end if
next ii ' ** HERE THE ERROR CAN BE OBSERVED USING DEBUGGER
end function

my OS version is Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS
Libreoffice-Version: 5.1.6.2
Build-ID: 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial4
CPU-Threads: 4; BS-Version: Linux 4.4; UI-Render: Standard;

Steps to Reproduce:
1. test the above example using debugger
2.
3.

Actual Results:
the statement "next ii" increments jj instad of ii

Expected Results:
after the inner "exit for" the outer loop should increment ii and not jj

Reproducible: Always

I couldn't reproduce, with copy text and paste it with Strg+V.
I could reproduce it, with copy and paste as unformatted text.

I haven't followed the discussion in detail, so I can't say, if this is a bug
(I would say yes) or not.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49033] Change case -> Sentence case doesn't honor selection; case of entire sentence changes (STR comment 20)

2019-01-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49033

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #31)

Let's discuss the details :-)

1. What should be done when a sentence start is selected, but not to the
sentence end? (I'm pretty confident the sentence start here should be
capitalized.)
2. What should be done if a sentence end is selected, but not from start? (This
one IMO is not that straightforward: we can capitalize the first selected
character, or we may skip the sentence; my take would be capitalize first
selected character.)
3. What should be done if selection starts in the middle of a word (possibly
not the first in a sentence)? We could capitalize first character of the word
(again not good for Shift+F3); or first selected character; or skip the
sentence. (I'd capitalize first selected character.)
4. What should we do when there's no selection? We could capitalize first
character of current word (if any; like UPPERCASE at al work); or current
sentence. (My take is Capitalize current sentence.)
5. What should be done with Capitalize Every Word function, that now also
expands to whole words, even if only parts are selected? It's not in Shift+F3
IIUC, but it would become inconsistent. (I'd say change it consistently.)
6. Should we only do the change for Word, or for other modules
(Calc/Impress/etc) too for consistency? (I'd say yes.)

tdf#95587: Make rectangle control within tab pages work again
Since commit 74407aef94b6d8dfdd6, tab pages|controls are
considered to be container widgets (thus, search for the nearest
non-layout parent will never find a tab page parent, breaking
rectangle control in many dialogs). I've no idea how many
other functions' behaviour this changes in an unexpected way,
so I've reverted that bit.

That however means implementing slightly different approach to
tdf#92630 in dialogs (for a tab dialog, find current tab page
and go through its children)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 123001] New: A little improvement to CONCATENATE/CONCAT, please?

2019-01-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123001

Bug ID: 123001
Summary: A little improvement to CONCATENATE/CONCAT, please?
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: turbobehol...@mail.ru

Description:
Almost the same as CONCATENATE/CONCAT, only taking separator as a fixed
argument, to be added after every non-empty string if any non-empty string is
added after it.
CONCATENATESEP("Separator"; "Text1"; ...; "Text30")
CONCATSEP ("Separator"; {"Texts"})

Of course, while lumping text together without separators tend to make it
unreadable, once separators are supported, it would make sense to add a
counterpart of SUMIF/SUMIFS, but for strings.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I want to make a readable digest of articular entries picked out of a table.

Actual Results:
There's no way to do it now, since even DGET throws an error if there's more
than one result.

Expected Results:
$TooManyColumns.Y2 ... $TooManyColumns.Y199:
=$B199&"/"&$C199&$D199&" @"&$E199&CHAR(10)
$Summary.E33:
=CONCATSEPIFS(CHAR(10), $TooManyColumns.$Y$2:$Y$199,
$TooManyColumns.$B$2:$B$199,"="&$A33,
$TooManyColumns.$G$2:$G$199,"="&$D33)&T(STYLE("text_smaller"))

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 123000] New: Regular expression match function, please?

2019-01-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123000

Bug ID: 123000
Summary: Regular expression match function, please?
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: turbobehol...@mail.ru

Description:
Since regexp are already supported well enough to use in functions like
COUNTIFS, why plain regexp match couldn't be used as a function usable in a
formula?
This would make extraction of a desirable substring simple in most situations
(even with positive/negative lookahead/lookbehind regexps), without either
requiring more custom functions or unnecessarily complication.

Steps to Reproduce:
I want to parse a value out of text — e.g. the text in column $I may contain
"SomeTrait[123]" and if so, my goal is to extract value 123. I need a formula
to fill a long column.

Actual Results:
I'll end up with something like
=IFERROR( FIND("SomeTrait[",$I2),0)
in one column ($Z), and then
=IF($Z2>0,VALUE( MID($I2,$Z2+LEN("SomeTrait["),FIND("]",$I2,
$Z2)-LEN("SomeTrait[")-$Z2) ),0)
in another, and still have to pre- sanitize text so it won't fail due to
containing "Trait [5]" instead, or make it even more complicated.
Every time a string needs parsing, this involves unnecessarily complex
constructs made of LEFT()/MID()/RIGHT(), FIND/SEARCH() and LEN() that have to
either be repeated with the same arguments or consume half a dozen columns as
temporary variables, just to parse this one value (and there are more of them).

Expected Results:
=VALUE(REGEXPMATCH($I2, "(?<=SomeTrait\[).*(?=\])"))
matches "123". Just find the right cell, extract desired text from it, process
it. Two functions, fairly transparent… regexps may be not always quite obvious,
but at least short enough to analyze as a whole, and often easy to manually
test (if something works in search, it will work in a formula too).

Reproducible: Always

I have anonymised the document so all the content is replaced with x
characters. It seems the flickering is in part tied with the comments. Would
you be OK with having a version in public with the comments? Unfortunately,
Replace all does not work with comments.

Ah - then I went back tried doing with the width dialog you mention.

You are correct that does not work.

The screen shot shows the dialog immediately upon opening, after making the
column with data larger then the default directly by dragging the side of
header with mouse: Note the control for setting the size is disabled while the
automatic checkbox is empty - this seems backwards.

Put a check mark in the Automatic field and the actual size box becomes active,
allowing you to enter a different size, but since the automatic option is now
active when you save this the "Automatic" width setting wins.

Using Ubuntu 18.04.1 and LO 6.2 RC2 I was unable to confirm the problem.

I was able to open a Table View window and change the display size for any
column, but either double clicking on the column header which expands the
column size to show the text contained, or , by grabbing the right edge of the
column header with the mouse and dragging it to the right.

I tried with multiple SDBC drivers since you didn't name which one you used.

Perhaps someone with a 32 bit Windows install will have different results.

Dieter, if you're still around can you still reproduce Libreoffice showing two

Hmmm... in Comment 2 Dieter Praas used simple save as, yet LibreOffice showed
the extra spaces, so why did that happen?

The spaces were retained for me too when I tried then, but now I realize it was
only because I pasted text instead of typing.
If I paste the (plain?) text in my example in the bug description (without the
quotes) and save normally, the spaces are are shown, not only by libreoffice
but also the browser.
(Looking at the files it look pretty different when I paste from here, the text
is in some sort of tag, instead of , so I guess that some sort of
formatting is copied and that helps)

And why do you think the uncalled for save prompt on exit appears when I copy
in the example files?
Nothing is changed yet I'm prompted to save. This doesn't seem right at all.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122834

Probably the language work is too long for the place available in the smaller
window of Writer?
Then probably instead to show some thing like 'Bulgarian' it could help to show
only country abbreviation like 'BG'?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122834] EDITING Very annoying to change the language of the selections

2019-01-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122834

I had some time for checking this weekend.
It turned out that the reported bug is some thing different than my first
impression about it.

What I found:
1. The indication about the Language of some word can be visible only if the
Writer windows will be maximized.
2. If you are enforced to use some smaller window, let say to be capable to
read some document in one Window and write about it in the second window of
Writer, then the information about the language of the words is not visible. It
disappears from the bottom part of the LibreOffice Writer window.
3. Also I have checked some documents written in Russian, Bulgarian, English
and some other languages all together.
Unfortunately in some cases there even by maximized window the information on
the bottom part of the window disappears and appears again from time to time.
The reason for this may be that I have copied the test text form internet and
pasted it as HTML in my test documents.
Also probably some difficulties may create the fact that many words in Russian
are the same as in Bulgarian and their written form is the same as the alphabet
of both languages is common.
This needs more investigation but I could do it probably in the next weekends.

May be the difficulties created by the need for more clicks to achieve the same
thing because the new design of the interface of the Writer need to be removed
from this report and put in a new report asking for improvements, because it
looks like this behaviour is not bug but design decision?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49033] Change case -> Sentence case doesn't honor selection; case of entire sentence changes (STR comment 20)

2019-01-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49033

The current "Sentence case" logic would make perfect sense in case you select
no single character and you expect to change cases of a complete sentence.
However, in the case when you invest the effort to select the part of your
text, there is no single justifiable reason to extend this to complete
sentence. So, there are no two sides to this story; just the one that is
currently implemented and the one that should be implemented (in case some
developer have time; not requesting anything because I don't use "Sentence
case" anymore or SHIFT + F3... I adjusted my behaviour with custom menus and
custom shortcuts).

With the current implementation, we are saying: "Oh, you selected the part of
the text, but we believe you should consider the full sentence."
