[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129607] New: 25% use of CPU if working with very large writer.exe files after Recovery Mode
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129607 Bug ID: 129607 Summary: 25% use of CPU if working with very large writer.exe files after Recovery Mode Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.3.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: d9319...@urhen.com Description: Working with 5+ documents and 200 page average, with different font colors and highlights... makes Libreoffice use 25% of CPU for hours if not terminated. Sometimes reproducible by just opening them on system, but a constant issue if documents are opened through Recovery Mode. A weird workaround is to kill tasks at random, until it magically drops to 0% even if closing same writer tasks stabilizes the CPU consumption or not, depending on how lucky you are. Also happens to Calc.exe, but also with writer.exe without any calc.exe opened or vice-versa. This is a bug, because I can work around and maintain all files opened at 0% cpu. Already tried disabling OpenGl, hardware acceleration, installing new versions of Libreoffice (for years). Either closing 1000pages processes, it might only drop to 0% when closing a random 100 page document. Changing the specific large documents have the same output. Steps to Reproduce: 1. open very large files at the same time (occurs more frequently by Recovery Mode) 2. CPU 25% 3. All files work normally, not a single renderisation or any visible CPU demanding feature, which a simple text editor wouldn't solve in 5 seconds Actual Results: CPU works at 25%, doesn't stop until I start randomly killing Writer tasks in the windows taskbar. Expected Results: Rendering very large files to a point where I can manage to work with them without abusing my hardware or depending on me playing with the software at every startup before getting to work. After years with LO. This is possibly fixable because, I have to work everytime I reopen files until they stop consuming CPU. So, I fix this a lot, just don't know why. By ending tasks, and reopenning them again, I can finally arrive at my initial intention of editing simple text files with annotation features which LO offers and notepad.exe doesn't. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64) CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.1; UI render: GL; VCL: win; Locale: en-US (en_US); UI-Language: en-US Calc: CL -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34355] Option to show track changes in margin is missing
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34355 --- Comment #91 from Jatin --- I appreciate sharing that a balloon view is not your preference. However, many have a completely different preference. I suppose that further suggests that this should be a changeable setting. I personally agree with many, many in this thread that the balloon visualization of changes is a "must-have" feature. I spend the majority of my day writing, and I professionally depend on it. For me this feature is so critical and important that I simply cannot use LibreOffice for collaborative writing with my entire team. I use the mode in MS Word where it shows the final version of the document but highlights the deleted text in balloons on the border. Personally, I think that having the cross-out text in the middle of the remaining text makes it visually very challenging, and in many cases unreadable. The other disadvantage of keeping the deleted text and showing it in "cross-out" letters is that it bloats the length of the document. What I find so beautiful about the "balloon model" is that the document looks very similar to the final version, but the deleted stuff is still visible on the sidelines. For many things we write, the length of the document is very critical. If you keep the deleted text in there (cross-out), the document will appear to get longer and longer, the more changes there is (and it becomes less readable). This will mess up a lot of things in the document, for instance how text flows around figures, etc. A few years ago, someone maintained a "wish list" web page with the Top 10 most desired features for LibreOffice/OpenOffice. This particular request was solid #1 pretty much the entire time. So there are A LOT of people who really, really want and need this feature. I think some of the comments on this thread also reflect this. Based on this background, commenting that this is simply a "bad idea" is not helpful. I understand that people have different preferences, and FOSS is all about choice. Telling users that there need and wish of having this feature is a bad idea is not really appreciative of their feedback. https://www.mylyricsbook.com/ -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129603] New: Calc formatting: print preview shows different row height view than working version
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129603 Bug ID: 129603 Summary: Calc formatting: print preview shows different row height view than working version Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.3.0 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: chetval...@gmail.com Description: I use Calc for invoices, and most of the cells have lines of text that wrap into numerous lines. Even though my template is configured to be at "optimal height" many times after filling a cell the rows crowd the cell and run into the border. Then I reset the row for optimal height again and it looks normal. If I do this, then many times when I reopen the file some rows are crowding their border again, but the print preview looks normal. Then, if I reset the affected rows to optimal height, it looks normal in the working version but the print preview version shows extra space in the cell. My workaround has been to alway look at the print preview to check if it looks correct before printing since it seems to depict the printed or pdf version reliably. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Fill your Calc cell with rows of text 2.Format your Calc document's row height using "optimal height" 3.SAve, close the file, and reopen it. Actual Results: It doesn't alway happen for some unknown reason. Expected Results: Sometimes the row heights change on the working version. Reproducible: Sometimes User Profile Reset: No OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: The working file should look exactly like the printed and print preview version. Should I enable OpenGL? I don't think I've ever had it enabled, but have enabled it now and will see if that fixes the problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

And, like the Status Bar, or the Page Pane in Draw, or the Slide Pane in Impress the Calc Formula Bar will always have an entry on the Main View menu. Similar was done for the inputwin.cxx for Writer with bug 124642 with some of the same issues of not correct on the Toolbars sub-menu.
