First i'm sorry for my bad English, i'm French. Second, this is my first bug
report so i've might done something wrong. Third, it be a infinite pleasure to
share with you the document but my hard drive said "yes but no" and actually
delete it. Do i'm happy ? Well, losing hours of works with all my enzymology
courses... No.

So i think it's come from my hard drive and not Libreoffice so i'll might
delete this post. So (extremely) sorry for taking your time guys T_T !

2020-09-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136933

Bug ID: 136933
Summary: Libreoffice 7 impress remains stuck in advancing to
the next slide in presentation mode
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com

Description:
I have a presentation that is OK with LibO 6.4.x, but cannot be presented with
7.

On LibO 7, the presentation starts normally, then as I progress from slide to
slide, the time taken to move to the next slide increases on an on, up to a
point where asking for the next slide gets cpu usage up to 100% and the time
taken for advancing is 30-40 seconds.

Seen on linux (kubuntu 20.04, intel graphics, LibO 7.0.2.1 (unselectable as of
today from version list in bug tracker).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start presentation
2. Keep advancing to next slide

Actual Results:
After about 10-15 slides, cpu usage goes up to 100% at slide transitions and
slide actually changes after > 30s

Expected Results:
Presentation is fine as in LibO 6.4.x

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
[Information automatically included from LibreOffice]
Locale: en-US
Module: PresentationDocument
[Information guessed from browser]
OS: Linux (All)
OS is 64bit: yes

Note that switching on/off opengl is not possible from LibO 7.0 options
interface

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135871] Highlighting no fill is not the same as no fill; there is still direct formatting present according to paragraph style

No, this of course not intended argument for a change. And yes, I know people
can twist and turn arguments around, to get something 'through' for their own
preference for (very) wrong reasons.

However, I'm attempting to put you're argument in perspective. You have a very
strong argument if it would work perfectly without a change.. and be broken
afterwards.

However this isn't the case. I'm only stating the the issue is already present,
so to objection 'Benjamin' getting some formatting problem isn't saying that
much. This is inherit to the whole DF/PS/CS system.
So my target is it must at minimum not become worse for Benjamin, compared to
the current situation.. in the overall outcome. Not on single cases basis.
Their could be some 'drawbacks'. If they overall count is positive (in the most
common cases) I call it an overall improvement.

So yes, if any 'regression' is an objection.. development would come to an
halt.
Replacing problems isn't desired. However in this case they general outcome is
for the better.. So the solution isn't perfect. But the whole PS/CS/DF system
isn't perfect. As long as Benjamin isn't worse off in overall experience (and
common cases); it's acceptable to me. So opting for the "Utilitarianism" view.
The 'great good'. However I don't think it's that binary (lose-win). Benjamin
will profit from this too.

Using styles with DF everywhere makes using styles pretty useless. And it's
simply confusing. I'm still having issues with wrapping my mind to it.

I currently don't see an major case, where the behavior substantial different.
I tried to follow you're steps, but I don't notice the issue.

So for the record: I'm not trying to get my wishes implemented of the back of
others. And making others worse of. I actually don't care that much (and Office
suite is an commodity, there are alternatives). I'm only pointing out a topic,
which I have struggled with a long long time. And I simply don't get. Luke
made it even more clear to me why this is simply not working.

I'm not a heavy user. I'm only give my opinion based on what I have noticed.
However, you should ask people who actually are correcting formatting and how
often they need to do that. And if this a cumbersome job etc.

I'm more they type of experiments.. Worse what can happen is a 'revert' (and
some wasted time/ money developing it). However we get feedback/ and data/
experiences. Not that ever idea has to become an experiment.. arguments are
fine.. but some point 'experiences' matter.

So main question is what are the 'cost' / (expected) benefits. This look like a
'small' change to me. However the simple things are mostly more complex :-(.

Without change their is no progress :-). Again not invitation to 'change
everything all the time'. However also not a fan of long term doing nothing
strategy. They Ribbon is more or less a success after all. Similar to they
Windows 8.0 start menu debacle (which worked fine on tables/phones). It
implemented differently now day's but has still reminiscence of that time.

For the record, I love a large audience. To get so more insights/ perspectives/
visions etc.

Please give one or two concrete STR examples which you have in mind where this
would occur; instead of general notion "He might have someone other's document,
and see something unexpected/ unexplainable to him there".

Not because I want to be annoying or keep you busy. I simply not able to come
up with a clear cut case where this is obviously be problem. A case where
Benjamin would struggle more compared to the current implementation. There
might be; and my

Luboš Luňák committed a patch related to this issue.
It has been pushed to "master":

https://git.libreoffice.org/core/commit/94129b3ed8c158bf61fa0e17ee12a21fb9bf07e6

set properly font X-scale for Skia+X11 (tdf#136891)

It will be available in 7.1.0.

The patch should be included in the daily builds available at
https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours. More
information about daily builds can be found at:

2020-09-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Writer's defaults are hard-coded. If you load any template it will override
those. So it's working as designed and the only question is whether we should
rename the template because Default might confuse users.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 136420] Sidebar layout: hide context toolbars

2020-09-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136420

"90% of the commands from the toolbars are available in the sidebar." is likely
too much. Many commands are available in both the toolbar and the sidebar. So
this question boils down what the sidebar is good for (see HIG) rather than to
ditch "all" toolbars.
Plus, the sidebar can be used in different ways. You may have the Navigator
focused while editing the document. Or the Gallery, which is an expected use
case when it comes to graphics.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 136932] New: Write-protected content dialog is annoying and has no way to bypass

2020-09-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136932

Bug ID: 136932
Summary: Write-protected content dialog is annoying and has no
way to bypass
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: avaman...@gmail.com

Description:
When one opens a write-protected document, there's no UI indication that it's
write protected, when you start to type it throws up a dialog box.

It should instead lock the toolbars in an obvious way that the document is
locked, there should be no dialogue box never ever, it should not even allow me
to place a cursor.

Second, the write lock needs to be something I can disable. Disabling the
protected content option in the settings just reverts when I reopen settings.
Makes zero sense. Terrible UX. It has to remove the lock when I order it to.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just open a write-protected document
2. Try to change it
3. Some annoying dialogue box jumps in front that has to be manually dismissed

Actual Results:
Annoying dialogue box, no UI hints that it's locked, no way to disable the
lock.

Expected Results:
No annoying dialogue box, UI hints that the document is locked, an **obvious**
way to disable the lock.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Version: 6.4.5.2
Build ID: 1:6.4.5-0ubuntu0.20.04.1
CPU threads: 24; OS: Linux 5.6; UI render: GL; VCL: kf5;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US

Missing a request in first place, guess it was a customer request implemented
by Tamas. OTOH, I don't see this button as too difficult to use. And I cannot
confirm the placement trouble due to the quite complex document.

Adding the Unfloat command to the context menu is a good idea, if it's a UNO
command.

See also 113603 about table handling in general.

Nope; I admit there is a fluid scale. And there is surely no use case.. Only
prevention case. But will create a ticket where most of the 'page style' stuff
is merged into a single 'idea' (especially the 'orientation topic').

However I assume objection against the total, the building blocks, they way
it's presented etc.. but will we see :-).

I would suggest 2 things
(a) we clamp maximum resolution to 4000
(b) we also clamp image size to something reasonable. 16k by 16k perhaps.
(the error is most caused by something in the code applying a size limit, not
sure where)

Depends on the intended design. You can argue that a 'unknown author' can't
create comments nor replay's. So string matter would be fixed..

You can argue that 'unknown author' should be able to respond to a 'unknown
author'. As these could be different persons. And because it isn't much
different from a reply of unknown author to an comment of a known author.

I often have opinions.. how it should be changed.. but no clear opinion in this
case.

2020-09-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 136931
Summary: WRITER TABLES: Improve workflow for unfloating tables
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Created attachment 165734
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=165734=edit
Document with floating table

Open attachment with a floating table.

Process for unfloating table:
1. Select Navigator - Frames - Frame1
2. right click - Go To menu item.
3. In the top right corner of the table a blue "Un-float Table" label appears.
4. Click it.

Also if you might be aware, that docment contains a floating table, the way of
unfoating it is not intuitive. You have to know, that you should select the
frame and that you should use "Go To" - opion

It would be much easier if you could select table directly within the document,
so that "Unfloating Table" option appears. Or unfloating-option should be part
of the table context menu in the navigator.

Imagine issues when you edit the "original" document. Could be solved by
switching back to the TC mode once you modify the document. MSO has a weird
Original: With Markup mode that is pretty similar to the full TC mode but very
confusing. Point of the toggle is to temporarily switch back to the original in
order to read or verify the actions and not to bring this into the text
processing itself.

Michael, is this an (interesting) easyhack maybe?

Telesto, where is the use case? Why do you want to change page orientation of a
page style named "Landscape" to "Portrait"?

If you change page size of Page Style "A5" to A4, the name will still be A5. Do
you want to change that also? If you change behaviour for one setting you have
to change it for parallel situations also. This will end up in chaos.

I've changed status to enhancement, because actual everyhing works as it should
(actually) work. As an enhancement request it has to be evaluated by
Design-Team => Status UNCONFIRMED

Another thing you could test is to go to Factory Settings, to be sure it is not
a locale problem on your computer only.

Go to Help - Restart in Safe Mode - Factory Settings and check that 2 option
below Factory Settings - and Restart. Eveything will be clean and work well. If
NOT it is a bug maybe just on Windows.

And possible in the future developers to ask you for more technical info.

Waiting for your test with Factory Settings, and also waiting for an answer
about my video if this are the steps I needed to do.

This is about the 'landscape' style template. Where the style landscape
suggests landscape view, which can be changed..

Originally idea was to block the change of the style.. Currently I tend
slightly to having stock template styles, which can be modified next to manual
styles. However this part of large topic :-). And i'm of course meddling with
the design. So this won't be easy.. And is is about trade offs

He can't, because the check is based solely on a string comparison, and both
are "Unknown author". But that led me to a thought: 'Unknown author' is a
translatable string, so what would happen if the other user use a different UI
language? So I tested it (with 6.4.6), and indeed opening the attached doc with
e.g. Russian UI allows me to reply. That's clearly not the intended behavior.

This file has a multipage floating table so bug #105876 is appropriate for
duplicating.

Select Navigator - Frames - Frame1, right click - Go To menu item. In the top
right corner of the table a blue "Un-float Table" label appears.
Click it and you shall see the multipage contents.

So I decided to make this change, that *seems* reasonable. However, I can't be
sure that the change would not introduce a regression for similar cases where
it used to give better results: e.g., where c happened to be closer to ideal
value than d, and their mean would round to a worse increment value ... that's
entirely possible. As mentioned: there is no way to make this work ideally, and
there's no goal in that here, only to improve things that could be reasonable
improved.

Here is the original OOo spec, which states that the reply action should be
available only for a different author:

https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Notes2_Reply

Interesting that while replying isn't possible, the "Insert Comment" action is
still active while the focus is inside a comment, and executing it creates a
replying comment. So you can't "reply" to your own comment, but you can still
"insert" a nested comment, which technically is the same as replying...

I also checked the behavior of MS Word, and it seems to allow replying to own
comments.

Dear support,

We have an issue when we try to convers ODT file into PDF, using LibreOffice.
It works most of the time, but sometimes it seems that service/task of
LibreOffice is stuck and when we start the command, it just won't do anything.
When we turn task off, it starts working again.

We are using software which is using java as a foundation.

This is the error message we are getting from the logs, when this happens.

com.artofsolving.jodconverter.openoffice.connection.OpenOfficeException:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 136925] New: PDF: export as PDF results in some shifted items

2020-09-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136925

Bug ID: 136925
Summary: PDF: export as PDF results in some shifted items
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: erik.n...@gmail.com

Description:
Exporting attached file with "direct PDF export" or "export as PDF" results in
items shifted (see elevator icon, green evacuation path) ... contrary to what
is displayed.

Current workaround: shifting items do not occur when printing to a PDF.
(NOTE: here you must deselect all items you do not want twice: visible and
printable.)

Steps to Reproduce:
File >> Export as >> Export as PDF ...

Actual Results:
PDF file where some items are shifted.

Expected Results:
PDF file with all items positioned as displayed.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Save a PDF as displayed.

The X11 and Windows problems are independent. And I can reproduce this on
Windows even with Skia disabled.

What happens for you if you disable Skia?

Bug ID: 136923
Summary: Export to PDF/A is not PDF/A conformant (ISO

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jan.procha...@archimetes.com

Description:
I have a bug where a document exported to PDF/A is not PDF/A conformant.
The bug is similar to Bug 136805 (in overall result, but seems otherwise
unrelated).

Steps to Reproduce:
We use the uno interface on a localhost socket
with following filterparam

filterParam.Name = "SelectPdfVersion";
filterParam.Value = Integer.valueOf(1); // 0 = PDF 1.4 (default selection). 1 =
PDF/A-1 (ISO 19005-1:2005)
filterParams.add(filterParam);

, but the the behaviour is reproducible via GUI as well:
1. Open the attached PDF in LibreOffice
2. Choose File -> Export as PDF with PDF/A checked

Actual Results:
PDF is produced and metadata claim PDF/A conformance level/profile.
In fact there is a problem:

Specification: ISO 19005-1:2005, Clause: 6.1.12, Test number: 5
Maximum capacity of an array (in elements) is 8191

The problem can be reproduced by the VeraPDF CLI utility or using its online
demo (https://demo.verapdf.org/)

Expected Results:
The PDF produced is really a PDF/A, passing validation checks.
Note:
The input file has problems of its own.
It claims PDF/A conformance but it's not a PDF/A file.
Never the less the output file

Reproducible: Always

I still can reproduce this bug every time I save and reopen the program.
I've tried on 7.0.1 and 6.4.6 too. If the steps to reproduce is unclear, email
me.
Thank you.
