You could use string extraction I guess but something simpler would be nice? When testing in newer version of LibreOffice (in my case 7.0.2.2) then with this setting filterParam.Name = "SelectPdfVersion"; filterParam.Value = Integer.valueOf(2); filterParams.add(filterParam); (note the change from 1 (PDF/A-1a) to 2 (PDF/A-2b) the exported PDF is really a PDF/A-2b. At least according to VeraPDF which is a good reference for start. I' able to open files on the NAS directly from LO and edit them. Saving back directly (File > Save) to the NAS trashes the files content. Instead, saving locally and then copying the file via Ubuntu works as expected. Using an older Version of Fritz! OS (which uses samba V1) works as expected. Using another text editor on Ubuntu works like expected. Using another OS (MacOS with LO 7.1 or 6.4.5) works like expected. (Whether the columns are defined in the page style or in the section should be irrelevant.) Microsoft doesn't have the concept of a page style, just sections, so everything here is just emulation. LO can define columns in both page styles and sections. Importing columns into page styles caused all kinds of problems. Results. Testing attachment 165696 the chart fails to update (as before). Testing the test.ods (same as 165696 but with manually edited manifest.xml and manually added ObjectReplacements folder) chart fails to update. Saved the test.ods as a copy using LO6.3.5.2 then unzip to find out changes. The software run removed/cleaned the manual entries from manifest.xml and ignored/deleted the manually added ObjectReplacements folder. Provisional conclusion: 1. A User is unable to provoke the generation of ObjectReplacements. 2. Use of LO7.0.1.2 sometimes will cause the attachment file Chart to update and sometimes not. 3. The LO7.0.1.2 first upgrade/install on Ubuntu 18.04 caused a freak incident that repaired a very large file, only once (which uniquely has a software generated ObjectReplacements folder). It also broke a partly working very large file such that no Charts update; none at all (without generating the mystery ObjectReplacements folder either in that case). 4.
