[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153377] New: Add dark mode enable/disable option setting

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153377

Bug ID: 153377
Summary: Add dark mode enable/disable option setting
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: m.rick@gmail.com

Created attachment 185111
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=185111=edit
Screenshot 1

It's missing an option to disable dark mode. It follows automatically the
system settings which is good. But not all people like it.
It should have an option to enable/disable it.

Enable dark mode
Disable dark mode
Use system settings

It is the behaviour available in a lot of softwares like in OnlyOffice for
example.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153376] New: Too Much Line Spacing for Font KJV1611

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153376

Bug ID: 153376
Summary: Too Much Line Spacing for Font KJV1611
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: zaak...@protonmail.com

Description:
I just updated LibreOffice to version 7.5.0.3 (from whatever the previous
version was, I don't remember). Previously, the font KJV1611 (by ctrlcctrlv,
downloadable on his github page here: https://github.com/ctrlcctrlv/kjv1611)
displayed without any problems; but since the update, LibreOffice now displays
the font with what looks like double line spacing (even though single line
spacing is selected in the paragraph format). It seems as though LibreOffice
has started thinking the characters in the font are way larger than they
actually are, as when you place the cursor on a line, it far exceeds the height
of any of the characters that you type.

I have not noticed this problem with any other font as of yet. And the only way
around it seems to be to use a fixed or proportianl line spacing (with lowered
values), but I cannot achieve the accurate (original) line spacing with either
of those methods, and they each present other issues (fixed doesn't scale with
font size, and proportional doesn't seem to work well with drop caps).

Currently, this formatting (or viewing?) issue ruins the documents I have been
working on. It could be that the issue lies with the font, but I don't see how,
as it hasn't changed in a couple of years, and was working just fine up till
now.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install the KJV1611 font
(https://github.com/ctrlcctrlv/kjv1611/raw/master/KJV1611.otf)
2.Open LibreOffice Writer and switch font to KJV1611
3.Type a couple of lines of text

Actual Results:
Large amounts of space are placed between lines. The cursor on a line is way
bigger than the text on the same line.

Expected Results:
The KJV1611 font ought to display with regular spacing between lines (as other
fonts). Perceived height (cursor height) ought to match actual height
(character height).

Reproducible: Always

We run a poll with two different proposals and the current one won. I disagree
that icons have to be kind of a thumbnail of the application. It rather needs
to quickly identify the application among other, which it does better than in
the past as many comments recently confirm, and it should convey clearly the
brand, which is taken care of with the paperclip symbol. Please also consider
that we support all major operating systems and have to blend into the modern
look and feel.

Nevertheless we monitor the comments and appreciate all input. If more users
will join the critics we should reconsider the decision to resolve the ticket
as NAB.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130149] Text using the Cantarell variable font is not printed or PDF exported in some Linux (comment 8 and comment 26)

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130149

This bug seems not been fixed in Linux version of LibreOffice 7.5.0.3, even
though all bugs marked as duplicating seem all closed and fixed.

Version:

Arch Linux, with LibreOffice 7.5.0.3 installed from Arch's official repository
(libreoffice-fresh)

How to reproduce:

1. Copy Linux's /usr/share/fonts/cantarell/Cantarell-VF.otf to Windows 10
(21H2). This font is in Arch package "cantarell-fonts" from its official
repository.
2. Create a ODF document containing both Cantarell and Bahnschrift (Windows's
builtin variable font), and save with font embedded.
3. Export this document to PDF both in Windows LibreOffice (downloaded from
website) and Linux LibreOffice. The PDF exported by Windows one has no
problems, and that by Linux one contains only Bahnschrift -- Cantarell is still
missing.

It seems that, even LibreOffice 7.5 has better support of OpenType variable
fonts (as bug #108497 shows), the Linux build and the "Cantarell" font, may
still bring trouble to LibreOffice. This issue may worth un-duplicate and
reopen (or it should be discussed in a separate bug report? I'm not sure). And
also, is there any other information that may help debugging this bug?

Thanks.

That's also incorrect (it is at least inaccurate).

I'm not sure even using the RAWSUBTRACT() function you would get an accurate
result for that subtract operation.

There is a workaround using TEXT functions, but it is not _that_ pretty and it
depends on the case.

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153375

Bug ID: 153375
Summary: Creating an user profile comparator.
(registrymodifications.xcu)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: miguelange...@libreoffice.org

There are a lot of issues 'solved' cleaning the user profile.

And it is not clear what kind of solution it is, because it is not so easy for
the users to recover the previous situation. A situation in the darkness for
many users.

And it is also not clear how we mark the resolution of a bug that needs to
recreate the profile. The solution is more of a workaround than a real
solution.

This happens especially when upgrading the version of LibreOffice, and the
problem usually occurs with the registrymodifications.xcu file.

So at least having a comparator for this file, which would allow us to locate
which option causes the problem, I think would help the developers very
efficiently to fix the bug. And at the same time probably be able to provide
the user with a solution without having to recreate the user profile.

and tested with the uploaded example file attachment 184509

And it still fails to refocus Search items.

The freezing popups is no longer an issue - it's now a different structure

Thanks, Ady.

Yes, the problem did continue to occur when in normal mode.

I have now deleted my original profile and that seems to fix the problem.

I examined my profile folder. The problem was the file called
registrymodifications.xcu

Deleting this file fixed the problem. But I had to recreate my customisations
after that.

I don't understand why my profile should be fine when switching back to 7.4,
but not fine with 7.5.

Anyway, it's working now and recreating my customisations didn't take long.
thanks for your help everyone.

I downloaded attachment 182009 posted in comment 1.

1. Open xls file in LO.
2. Save As XLS file with different name.
3. Close files and reopen them.
4. By visual comparison between both files, some cells have different
background colors; e.g. S29, N30:N39 and others. In the downloaded file, these
cells have background color, in the saved-as file there is no background color
for these cells.

Repeating the whole set of steps, but saving as XLSX file generate the same
results (but I haven't checked whether the exact same range of cells are
affected).

There seems to be some FILESAVE / exporting issue.

I wasn't really defining the lack of cursor blink as an issue as it has no
impact but further experimenting to try to replicate what you infer has now
identified that if I return to the filter pane and hover over either the text
colour filter or the bbackground colour filter it pops out and remains out. If
i then hover over the "other one" it pops out but retreats when moving on. It
also appears to "ignore" the cursor when you again try to hover over the
original source of the "locked" popout

This is what I would expect if it worked properly in 7.3.7.2 are you aware of a
partial fix - perhaps per @rafael lima comment 2 - already applied in 7.4.4.2

I'm unsure whether you're commenting as a developer seeking clarification, a
user experiencing different symptoms or triaging my report and identifying that
it's fixed in a later release.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153321] Notebook Bar (MUFFIN) separator color inconsistent in dark mode

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153321

To add to the discussion, this is why I prefer gray instead of white for
separators:

1. From a usability POV, having a white line visually overshadows the icons. A
white line makes it more difficult for users to find the icon they need to
click on. In a toolbar, icons should have the highest visibility, not a
non-clickable separator that the user cannot interact with. This is especially
a problem when the Colibre icon theme relies on outlines.

2. Users who need high contrast can use Windows's high contrast mode. There is
no low contrast mode for users who prefer a cleaner UI.

Reopening.

I don't think the reporter is saying that there is no bug, but rather that when
using safe mode the problem is not present, neither when using 7.4.x (a prior
version). The question is whether the problem still occurs after starting
version 7.5 in normal mode (after it is not repro in Safe mode). Resetting user
profile (maybe with a backup of the current) might be necessary.

Resetting user profile might be also a valid suggestion for Daniel in comment
4.

Thanks for giving your thoughts on the new app icons elsewise we won't really
know what the majority of the userbase thinks. About the complaints:

I do not understand what you mean by "not functional/broken". But I see that
you prefer the old logic of most icons being literal and not abstract. But the
old icons also were not totally literal; what were the base shapes supposed to
be, behind the white parts?

That shape is basically preserved in the new icons and of course that important
change is the pointy top-right triangle edge which initially symbolized arrows
"of progress" ( that's what the author of the original icons said I believe )
so I wanted to add that point edge so they do remind more of arrow beaks. Those
corner triangles existed in the previous set too, I'm not sure why you wanted
to note that now.

No Microsoft did not make those, the only major idea that ties them is the idea
that icons in the office suite should be mainly distinguishable by color. It's
a coincidence what colors are tied to each LibreOffice module/app.

I don't think I cannot design some "more usable" icons, nor these ones were
approved because of inner connections ( I really am an almost total stranger, I
only got into the mood to contribute some new icon set ).

I don't know if people will really be baffled... Do they look that different
from the previous icons?

The areas that convey information occupy almost the same space as their
co-responding old parts. The icons were made to look pixel-perfect on various
sizes ( there may be a problem on Windows10/11 on unusual system-wide scaling
options but it's a known issue )

I do not understand what you mean by "the shading effect enters too far into
the icons". And the margins are also more-or-less the same as the old ones (
they look bigger in size because the obvious white "paper" layer was removed )

The way text is represented on the Writer icon is exactly the same on how it
was represented in the old ones: with simple lines ( only evident differences
are the color and rounded edges ).

I have to admit you are kind of right about the Draw icon... but I don't want
to make the base colors darker. I don't know whether it truly affects people
with eye disabilities but I personally can distinguish the shapes from a good
distance.

I do not understand exactly what you suggest for the Math icon.

We could apply a mechanism that could generate special icons for safe-mode
sessions but we need somebody who has the knowledge and mood to do it. I don't
know if we have/can find one who wants to do it. This idea reminds me of how
GNOME deals with Stable/Nightly app icons.

The MS Windows11 calculator icon does not really help: it's a standard
calculator icon.

The rest are just about taste/preferences. Thing is many people felt fine with
not changing the icons but many others thought something new should come. So I
made these icons which in many aspects remind of the old icons, but now they
are more distinguishable from each other, there's improved visual consistency
and overall they look more conforming to the late "minimal" trends. That was
the idea in general.

The frustration of seeing new icons is really temporary but you forget it later
on ( yes I also feel like most icons I see are not "perfect" but they are just
icons in the end and most sets feel consistent and kind of trendy, that's just
what I believe ).

All I can suggest is to keep such worries around, in bugzilla, link them
together and if we conclude that a lot of people are unsatisfied perhaps new
icons could be made. But we cannot really change branding every 1-2 years. If I
noticed any significant disatisfaction with the icons earlier I would not have
proceeded with these icons. Surely many seem frustrated but many more feel fine
with them. I might want to note more stuff but nothing else comes to mind now.

By the way there is a page where icons of various other proposals are
kept:https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Mimetype_Icons/Proposals

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152903] CALC Autofilter Search items does not re-focus upon return from interaction with another app/internet page

> the search criteria.
> You'll notice that the cursor bar re-animates the moment the mouse enters

Even without changing to a different program, when I move the mouse to hover
over some other area of the same filter such as "Filter be Condition > Empty"
_without_ clicking on anything, the cursor stops blinking in the filter box.
So, it is quite possible that under some condition, depending on "how" exactly
the mouse moves (i.e. hovering on which exact area / artifact of your whole
screen), the cursor within the filter area stops blinking.

I could also change to a different program; as long as I don't click on some
other area within Calc, the filter box and the text I already typed-in within
it are still available. All I have to do is to click on the end-side of the
last typed-in character in order for the filter box to recover the focus.

Let me emphasize that: _clicking_ on the adequate place, I can continue with
the filter box just where I left before.

If I misunderstood the problem, maybe I need some more clarification.

Tried out DM on a previous version and didn't liked it, so I switched it off.

It's a good idea to check the Windows theme and apply it to LO, but it's not a
good idea to provide no opt-out in the first place.

Hope there will be a fix soon.

Open the area dialog e.g. from context menu and go to tab 'Color'. The
drop-down list 'Palette' has an item 'Theme colors'. When you hover a color in
that palette, then you get a small yellow tooltip explaining the color. And in
that tooltip for the first four columns the words 'Text' and 'Background' are
exchanged.

When you use the sidebar you need to use the set 'Theme colors' in the
drop-down of the fill color. The tooltips are the same as in the dialog.

If you have got a MS Office 365 you can compare the tooltips with those shown
by MS Office.

Hi @m.a.riosv,
thank you! I was happy to read that LT installation with the new procedure
(https://languagetool.org/insights/post/product-libreoffice/#how-to-enable-languagetool-on-libreoffice)
is working correctly in your setup.

I opened the settings and do not see anything different from the instructions
above, so am attaching a screenshot of both what I see in the text and my
current setup. Maybe you or someone can spot what is wrong.

Draw file with embedded spreadsheet. Select object and export selection as PNG:
No text

Exporting to png an image of a spreadsheet embedded in a Draw page now exports
only the underlining, backgrounds and possibly other drawing items but not
text. Reduced file size indicates loss of the text image, 2kb vs 27kb from
(7.3.7.2).

Export to SVG works correctly in 7.5.0.3

Exports to PNG correctly in 7.3.7.2 and earlier. Discovery of bug resulting

Just discovered the conversion to plain text was an illusion: What I described
occurred again today in the input line. When I leave the cell, both emails
appear as links in the cell view. When I return to the cell, the background
grey that indicates it is a link disappears, in both the cell and input line,
but placing the cursor over the email registers it as a link (click command key
to open hyperlink pop-up). They no longer are highlighted as links.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153371] New: Spelling tool causes crash and ANR message on windows 11 and high CPU usage

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 153371
Summary: Spelling tool causes crash and ANR message on windows
11 and high CPU usage
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: todo.ciencia.y.electron...@gmail.com

Description:
Like the title, trying to use the spelling tool in Spanish (Mexico) after about
the 3rd substitution or sometimes after pressing "Correct All" causes the
application to crash abruptly raising CPU usage while throwing ANR message in
windows 11. - Force close via task manager is required

Steps to Reproduce:
1. [with the interface in US English] try to write a document in Spanish,Make a
document with spelling mistakes, preferably repetitive errors on several pages
2.start the spelling tool [window]
-the automatic correction and highlighting of errors on the text seems to work
well
3.Make word substitutions as necessary, After the third substitution or if you
perform a "Change All" on a repeating error will cause LOF to stop responding,
immediately after Your PC fans will start spinning at high speed [In Windows
taskManager , you can verify a High CPU usage during the hang, This does not
give up if you leave time] it is required to force the closing through taskmgr
or ANR Windows report
-Recover document and repeat.

Actual Results:
Attempted to Restart PC, Start LibreOffice in Safe Mode, Reset Profile,
Reinstall via MSI. The problem is not solved and is repeated every time it is
tried
-In turn, Similar to Bug 153360, the spelling tool seems to have problems
identifying the language and in some paragraphs it simply gets stuck saying
that there is no language assigned to the paragraph and therefore there are no
suggestions. requiring manual changes or skipping paragraphs for revision to
continue

Expected Results:
The spelling tool shouldn't cause program hangups and shouldn't have any
detection issues even though the document language is default.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Libreoffice is using the "automatic integration" theme. so it works in
"default" dark mode. I don't know if the auto dark theme can cause the problem
[I can't disable it without having to change all the theme colors manually] and
disable windows 11 dark mode

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144438] Cell editing random spurious odd content re-arrangements and deletions

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144438

This comment occurred on the 31.12.22:
Thanks for attempting to reproduce this random issue. Do remember I wrote, "can
convert the adjacent text or whole paragraph”.

This appears to be pseudo random, in that when it occurs, it repeatedly occurs
in that particular cell, so I have to select all the text, and re-past as plain
text to get the text not to appear as a link, and hence will wrap within the
cell.

All-most all my notes are in cells set to wrap the text. That is, when a
paragraph appears as a link, it is not wrapped. Pasting plain text over it
appears wrapped.

This occurred on the 31.12.22:
Just went to ’strikethrough’ an email address and the whole cell converted to a
single non-wrapped link that cannot be undone. The work-around is to select all
text (this makes it non-visible in the ‘input line' while still visible in the
cell), cut (brings it back into the input line) and past special as unformatted
text.

This occurred today, 4.2.23: it behaved! I was able to create text, add two
links either side of the word 'and'. The first converted itself to a link. When
I added the second link, it converted to a link, and the previously added link
converted to text! At least the whole paragraph did not convert to being all
highlighted in a non-wrapped form as if it were a single link.

The two previous comments were made and emailed in error. Just catching up on
my emails resulted in this submission: sorry for the delay.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153366] New Main LibreOffice Icons Are a Complete Failure!

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153366

I am sorry for my lack of diplomacy and sugar-coating and diplomacy, but after
installation, those icons are the very first thing the user sees. Many people
will be baffled by them.

The corner thing is strange. Is it a folded corner, or detached? It uses so
much area.

The area of the icon that conveys information is needlessly small, about 1/4 of
the total area. Regardless of logo/legend design itself there just isn't enough
room and resolution to show it. They cropped the top for the folded corner.
They cropped the bottom for the shading effect, which enters too far into the
icon. I don't know why there is so much side margin.

The text in the Writer icon doesn't look like text.

Make the Calc icon look like a spreadsheet. Yes, indeed, a white background,
with a black grid looks boring, but that's exactly what a spreadsheet looks
like.

The Draw's icon shading becomes too light to see white against it.

Noting that, the Math legend/logo has a good start, but fill the symbols. No
outlines. People see objects by the edges of filled objects. If you don't
believe me, drop a dozen coat-hangars on the floor, and try picking them up by
lifting the top one, without snagging any others.

For LibreOffice safe mode, perhaps you could put a red cross, or a bandage over
it, to differentiate it from the standard one?

Want inspiration: I hate Microsoft, but the Windows 11 Calculator icon looks
modern and great.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Windows_Calculator_icon.png

The Linux Mint Cinnamon Shut-Down and Lock-Screen icon are big, bold, not
hollow. Good.

FreeFile Sync has a recognizable icon.

The OSX, Calender icon looks pretty much like an old Calendar. The trash-can
icon looks like a trashcan.

Demotivational: I love Audacity, but it takes a while to see the dark blue
headphones on a black background. Inscape's black brush, is nearly invisible
against a black background. It must be an in-joke why VLC's icon is a traffic
cone. Paraview appears to have copied Tandy's Color Computer 3 nameplate.
X-Rite put a whole paragraph of text on an icon, for some unknown reason.
Adobe's icons are trash because instead of showing pixels of a bitmap, or a
non-linear segment or a movie, they start to spell the name of the program.
Does the Windows 11 Notepad icon, looks like any notepad you've seen?
