Having the line thickness depend on zoom factor (as implemented in tdf#70519)
generally sounds reasonable to me. Is tweaking the calculation of the line
width further (to have an even better default value) potentially a solution to
resolve this issue (rather than adding an extra expert option)?

Or is there a need to also have a thicker line for other cases, e.g. with no
scaling applied at all?

In general, doing "the right thing" by default is IMHO more preferable than
adding extra options (that users would then have to know about and set
manually) when reasonably possible. But that obviously depends on whether or
not there's a common understanding of what the "right behaviour" would be.

More and more users are now using 4K monitors because they have become very
affordable.
But in LibreOffice Writer the underlines for spelling and grammar errors of
Hunspell and LanguageTool are very hard to see on 4K monitors, because they are
only one point thick.
PLEASE increase the thickness of the underlines automatically if LibreOffice
Writer is running on 4K graphics. Or even better add an option to let the user
choose the thickness of the underlines.
Thank you very much!

Actually, I realized this may be a different issue if the user is not talking
about HiDPI screens.

This is a regression in a recent version of LibreOffice.

When I added HiDPi support back in 2013, it made the spelling and grammar
underlines two pixels thick. Somewhere along the way, this got lost.

I could send a patch, but I don't have a dev environment setup currently.

However, the relevant routine is called DrawWaveLine.

Hello,

this report has existed since 2016 with the status NEW.
In addition, there is a report in which the problem should be fixed.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105527#c9

The problem still exists, especially with larger monitor resolutions, the wavy
line is difficult to see.
Unfortunately, neither in my current LibreOffice Version: 6.4.4.2 (x64) Version
nor in this version:

Version: 7.1.0.0.alpha0 + (x64)
Build ID: 15988fe00c4f49ae32ab2d5cf3c16495ab6e1d59
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19041; UI render: Skia / Raster; VCL:
win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: de-DE
Calc: CL

a possibility to adjust the line width of the red wavy line.

Also searched the expert settings and couldn't find an option.

1. Is there already a solution?
2. What do I have to do to change the line thickness?
3. Are you working on it?

edited summary notes.
as far as I know the "squiggly red underline" has always been the same
thickness since OOo era.

this is enhancement request. maybe an advanced configuration option could be
added to set an higher thickness value for it.
