[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54992] Entering the word 'report' in the help index cause LibreOffice to crash (clucene)
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54992 Roman Eisele changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|FIXED |WORKSFORME --- Comment #6 from Roman Eisele 2012-09-19 14:03:59 UTC --- Thank you very much for your research and continued testing! It is quite possible that this problem was fixed in the 3.6.1 development process, IIRC there was some change related to clucene (I just can’t find it, strange ...). So IMHO it is fine that you closed this issue again. I just change RESOLVED/FIXED to RESOLVED/WORKSFORME -- we prefer the latter if we don’t know exactly which commit(s) fixed the issue. If you ever reproduce this issue with LibreOffic >= 3.6.1, please reopen this bug report; then we will need to look deeper into what’s happening; but I hope this will not be necessary. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54992 James B. Byrne changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|RESOLVED Resolution||FIXED --- Comment #5 from James B. Byrne 2012-09-19 13:37:08 UTC --- 1. The default JRE was not selected in my installation of LO. However, setting the JRE in tool-options-jave did not correct the problem. The search feature of LO help always crashed when any attempt was made to use it. The search term used was not significant, every search filed. 2. Updating to 3.6.1 corrected the problem. So whatever the cause it is either fixed in 3.6.1 or reinstalling the software corrected whatever underlying problem existed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54992 --- Comment #3 from James B. Byrne 2012-09-18 13:19:01 UTC --- I discovered an issue with this same situation (search for report) on LO running on a Linux system. Instead of crashing it reported that a JRE was required and one was either missing or mis-configured in tools-options-java. Fixing the RJE allowed search to work. OSX recently had a java update which I had installed. I now wonder if that has any bearing on the issue. I do not have my Mac with me at the moment but I will check this out first before I try your other suggestions. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54992 Roman Eisele changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO Ever Confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #2 from Roman Eisele 2012-09-18 09:47:25 UTC --- Thank you very much for your bug report! However, I can not reproduce the crash, neither with LibreOffice 3.6.0.4 (the version you used) nor with the current pre-release version 3.6.2.1. If I follow the steps to reproduce give by you, I get (as execpted) a list of help topics related to report(ing). I use Mac OS X 10.6.8, but this should not make a big difference here ... So we must find out what makes the difference, i.e. why LibreOffice crashes in these situations for you, but not for me. 1) Which language pack do you use, i.e., what is the user interface language of LibreOffice? E.g., US English, UK English, French ... And what is the user inferface language of your Mac OS system? (We need to know this in order to make sure that we use the same settings for testing.) 2) Can you please try to start with a fresh LibreOffice user profile, to test if some corrupted local settings have influence on this issue? To do so, please: a) Quit LibreOffice, if running. b) Go to /Users//Library/Application Support/ c) In this folder, there should be a folder called “LibreOffice”, which contains most LibreOffice settings (and therefore is called the “user profile folder”). Just rename this folder so something else, e.g. “LibreOffice-old”. d) Start LibreOffice again (the startup should take longer, because LibreOffice creates a fresh user profile. e) Test the issue again. Does LibreOffice still crash, and with a similr crash report? 3) You can also try to switch to the latest official LibreOffice release, version 3.6.1.2, which is available from http://www.libreoffice.org/ and which fixes many other bugs which are still in LibreOffice 3.6.0.4 -- so updating is a good idea anyway, and maybe this issue was fixed by some other fix, too. OR you can even go directly to the current pre-release, 3.6.2.1, which fixes even more bugs and is available from http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ So please test if 3.6.1.2 or 3.6.2.1 still shows the crash ... If you have answered 1), and tried 2) and 3), please report the results here, and then we will know better how to proceed with testing this issue.
