https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76351 --- Comment #2 from Peter Maunder --- I wonder if the problem is related to the memory options in use. What settings are you using for the Graphics Cache? The memory and how long the images are stored in memory. Just a thought.. What > settings are you using for the Graphics Cache? The memory and how long the > images are stored in memory. Just a thought.. Peter Thanks for looking into this bug. I checked the Graphics cache, these are my settings (the default settings): Graphics Cache Use for LibreOffice: 20MB Memory per object: 5.2MB Remove after: 10min Number of objects: 20 After you mentioned it, I increased all of the values (I have enough RAM), but it did not change anything with regards to this bug. Unfortunately. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76351 --- Comment #4 from Peter Maunder --- I tend to allow enough memory so that all the multiple copies of these images can be held in the memory at the same time. Having too little memory with all these linked images will really slow down the system. Is your requirement to have five images repeated on each of fifty pages? Or are you trying to simulate a test for embedding 250 different images? The Writer Manual Chapter 8 (Working with Graphics) gives useful advice and deals extensively with Embedding linked images. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76351] FILESAVE: Severe performance issues of Writer saving file with linked graphics
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76351 --- Comment #5 from Gerry --- Yes, indeed I tested LibreOffice whether it is suitable for a long document of about 300 pages with about 150-200 different graphics. However, now I see that LibreOffice is barely able to handle 50*5 same (linked) graphics. LO on Ubuntu is unfortunately not capable to handle documents like that. Also allowing lots of memory does not change anything. By the way I realized that while saving, LibreOffice invokes numerous times following commands. I don't know what they are doing (as the graphics are linked to embedded), but they might cost most of the time: "/usr/bin/convert - density 300x300 eps:-png" as well as a very long "gs -q " command. I had already read the Writer Manual on graphics and there it is recommended to link and not embed grpahics if you are dealing with many, but this advice seems to be not entirely correct (given this bug entry here). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
