If I had that much money, I'd buy one of the ones on ebay and keep >this 70ct as a spare!!! L100 going for $450 on eBay? I'd be interested in the condition (eg. missing pixels, etc.), what it came with and how much they charged for postage and handling. Thats why I jumped on the L100 that was offered here in the paper for $875AUD (thats Australian dollars, about $440USD, his STARTING price was $1200AUD, it took him a week to figure out that no-one would buy it for that price though) because although it had no floppy or port replicator, it was also in pristine condition although the APR it DID come with had a blown PCMCIA socket. (I'm PRETTY sure it wasn't hot, the guy had the manuals and a reasonable explanation). It also required no postage and handling (although if you're already in the US I guess thats a somewhat moot point). > I tell people that a 70ct is worth about $350 and a 100ct about $450 >based on ebay prices. Based on what I've seen of prices, both eBay and elsewhere, $500AUD ($250USD) is about right for an L50 WITHOUT accessories and about $800AUD ($400USD) is about right for an L100 WITHOUT accessories. Adjust prices for accessories (floppy, docking bar, HDD, etc.), shipping and handling and so-on as you see fit (for instance I've factored in a partially fried L100 APR as being worth about $75AUD or $37USD). >But people emailed me saying things like "Well, I saw a >110ct in teh newspaper for $900. (that must mean they're worth that)" If you're making reference to the email I posted with about that value, notice I put AUD (Australian dollars) after it, then I put the USD (US dollar) price which is about half that due to the lousy exchange rate (don't even get me started!). > Ebay is a good place to see how much things like librettos are worth by >checking to see not how much people are /asking/, but how much people are >/willing/ to pay, and what people are willing to pay is what it's really >worth. Check out all the closed auctions where L100/L110's have gone for far MORE than the lowest price. It really is the luck of the draw, you have to be REALLY lucky to get the lowest closing prices. If you want those, you might as well sell your L70 on eBay and then buy a L100 on eBay. Think about your target audience ... I don't think many people HERE would be willing to downgrade their libbys in the first place but you may find a more receptive audience if you don't try to sell your L70 to the same person that you're buying the L100 off. Certainly I wouldn't for that sorta money (it cost me almost $400AUD or $200USD to upgrade from my L50 to this L100 2 months ago and THEN I still have to find a hard drive, floppy drive and docking bar because the L100 didn't come with the latter 2 and the buyer of the L50 wouldn't buy it with the 700 meg hard drive so I had to throw in the former). > I've seen a $100 price difference, so that's what I feel it's worth. If thats the case, stick to eBay. We're just trying to be realistic here and give our estimates of what it would take to prise us away from our L100/L110's in the first place. [LIB] Microsolutions Backpack cdrw drive
Date: Fri, 12 Apr 2002 16:12:08 -0500 From: "John Musielewicz" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Microsolutions Backpack cdrw drive Hi If anyone is looking for a CD-RW drive that works I am using the Microsolutions cd-rewriter drive. It works nicely using the supplied pc card and it also works using the parallel port. Microsolutions also supplies dos drivers so the drive can be used under dos to reload Windows from a cd in case the hard drive crashes. One con is the drive is really not portable. The drive is bigger than the libretto!!! [LIB] libretto serial port
Date: Fri, 12 Apr 2002 16:04:49 -0500 From: "John Musielewicz" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: libretto serial port Hi Has anyone used Traveling Software PCSync on their libretto? I am trying to use it but for some reason it cannot see the libretto serial port. I tested the port with laplink 5 for dos and that worked and a serial modem also worked under windows so I am confident the port is ok. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting it to work? I have contacted support but they haven't been much help so far. I have a 70 and am running Win98. I have tried both the port expander and the docking station. Same deal, this time $100, until Sunday. Then the money will no longer be available, so if anyone's interested, now or never. I'm quite disamyed by the subscribers on this list. I've gotten a lot of emails saying I was on crack and that I should offer more money. Well, with a L100 going for about $450 on ebay, one guy suggested I offer $500 for the downgrade. If I had that much money, I'd buy one of the ones on ebay and keep this 70ct as a spare!!! I tell people that a 70ct is worth about $350 and a 100ct about $450 based on ebay prices. But people emailed me saying things like "Well, I saw a 110ct in teh newspaper for $900. (that must mean they're worth that)" No, it means that that guy is selling it for that much, try calling him and seeing if he still has it. If he still has it, that means no one's interested in paying that price and that means it's not worth $900. Same thing with online stores. "Yeah, we still have Libretto 100ct's for $800. We haven't sold one in over a year, so I guess the craze is over with, but you can still get them from us for what we have them listed for on our website, $800." Ebay is a good place to see how much things like librettos are worth by checking to see not how much people are /asking/, but how much people are /willing/ to pay, and what people are willing to pay is what it's really worth. I've seen a $100 price difference, so that's what I feel it's worth. Plus, you get to keep your old HD, so you don't loose any space or have to re-install programs. All you have to do is update a few drivers here and there. Easier done than said. Oh yeah, and the floppy drive is included too. And I identified this 56k modem (thanks to the only helpful person I found on this list throught this whole ordeal). It's made by Falcon or Eagle tech (I forget the name exactly, I just woke up 10 minutes ago, and system properties doesn't say anything except for "PCMCIA 56k v.90 Modem") and have sucessfully installed the INF file to get it working. I just need to find a cable now, which I'll do at a swap meet Saturday. _ _ _ __ __ __ __ _ ___ THE /_ _// ___// ___// // // |/ // _ //__/ / / / _/_ / /__ / _ //// // /___ /_/ /////_//_//_/\_////__/ ___ ___ ___ ___ _ _ __ __ /__// _ \ / _ \ / \ / ___// _ // |/ / ___ / // // //_// /\ // /_ // // /// /__////_/\_\/_//_//////_/\_/ ** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ - Archives ---TO UNSUBSCRIBE--- Reply to any of the list messages. The mandrake newsgroup has been full of concerns about the stability of ext3 recently - it's getting quite religious :) The file you can't remove isn't the journal database by any chance? IIRC ext3 is ext2 filesystem with an extra logging database. I know the reiser is a very early version on M7.1 - it was the only distro that supported it in the kernel that early.
