Lee,

Both the killmb.com and killhd.com are programs used by the Libretto 100CT
Configuration Builder CD, and for that matter most the Configuration Builder
CDS for most other models of Toshiba notebook. A number of virus programs
will falsely identify them as virus(s), but they are not. They are used to
prep the system/hard drive before re-installing the factory configuration
from the CD.

The Libretto 100CT Recovery/Backup boot diskette which comes with the Lib
has
a file in the BIN subdirectory labeled killmb.com. After copying this
floppy
to a directory on my desktop HDD for safekeeping, then running NAV, Norton
reports this file as the virus KillMBR.g and suggests quarantine or
deletion.
Norton then blocked my attempt at copying this file from the floppy to the
HDD, again identifying it as the killmbr.g virus.

I am assuming this is a mistake of NAV; can anyone confirm from their copy
of
the Lib boot diskette that a file called A:\BIN\killmb.com exists? There is
also a file called killhd in the same directory - anyone know what these do,
if they're not virii? Thanks.

Ken,

Sounds like a plan. I've spent a fair amount of time in Bermuda on
business/pleasure, although I haven't been back there for a few years. If
you need to know anything, send me an email.

Steve,

As it turns out, I think I will go for $24 for 10 hours access, additional
hours at $3-4/hr.

I think I would be hard pressed to use all 10 hours (the wife is coming
along...) in the five days, besides, I can justify $24 as a one-time
expense - compared to the cost of the trip, it is a bargain.

One thing I like to do with vacations is calculate my base burn rate, I take
the amount of money I am paying (let's say $1,000), then divide that by the
number of hours (call it 96, 4 days), then my burn rate is $10/hr just
*being* there (this of course, takes into account the cost of getting there,
the cost of eating while there, and all the disposable purchases I make
while I am there).

My burn rate for this trip is about $25/hr - if I add another $24 to the
total expense of the trip, my cost goes up to $25.20/hr... It is easy, the
ISP is willing to waive any one-time setup fees, so the total out-of-pocket
is $24.

BTW, the Bermudian Phone Co. has a surcharge for spending more than 60
minutes on one call... Interesting.

 Ken,

Depends on what you plan to use the internet access for. ATTglobal has a
local number in Hamilton, Bermuda. They have plans for as little as $5.95
a
month for domestic access. To that you would have to add $9.00/hr for
"roaming" charges. If you plan to only check email, you will be hard
pressed to use and hour of time in just 5 days, unless you read all you
mail
 on-line.

 Hello all,

My question has to do with getting internet acces while on a 5 day
vacation
in Bermuda, the best I can come up with is $30 for about 10 hours access
(since I will only be there for 5 days, not a big problem) - does anyone
here have any advice on providers, alternate access plans?

 For reference, see: http://bermuda-online.org/internet.htm

Also, there is a company I like called HiTechCafe in CA that has a great
deal on a real nice (refurb) Portege 3020 laptop - they are $599 w/96 Meg
 RAM, 6.4 G HD, 10.4" 800x600 TFT display, 56K modem, etc.

 For further information, see:

http://www.hitechcafe.com/eshop/inproduct2.asp?sku=PORTEGE%2D3020CTdept%5Fi
 d=14

(My wife has a Portege 3010, with a slightly slower CPU (P/266 MMX?) and
she
loves it - I just wish I could justify one, I might consider displacing my
 Librettos...)

Please, buy them all so that I am not tempted! I still have the L50 I was
going to sell to defer the price of my L110!

I don't know who here gave you that info, but it is totally or partially
incorrect. We may not have the battery in stock at the moment (I'm on the
road and don't have access to inventory status), but we certainly can get
them generally in a day or so. We recently move or CT office, so we are
catching up on re-stocking inventory. If you still need the battery, please
email me and I will take care of it personally.

Also if you don't mind, I would very much like to see a copy of the email
from our company to you so that I can "re-educate" the person who sent it.

David,
I emailed microsol and received a reply that they do not have CMOS batteries
for the Librettos. You have a part number or anything?

Thanks
Dennis

Maybe talk to www.micsol.com for the battery if you think it might be
that.

Larry,

The *guess* is that there are some remnants from the old Cis software left
on your system. As a result it is treating you like a member with an unpaid
account. Cis used a program called Virtual key. Go to Control Panel and
then add/remove programs. You will want to remove virtual key if it is
there as well as any other CompuServe specific software.

This is what I got from Cis, but I don't have any of these programs on my
system and it still logs me in under my correct id, so I suspect there may
be a cookie somewhere with this info in it.

Let me know if it works for you.

Larry, You were a CompuServe member at one time, is this
 correct? If so
 my guess
is that Csi left cookies or something similar on your system and

David,

I have to agree, if you are looking for Libretto specific info, this list is
the best source. I can honestly say that even being a user, dealer and
service center for Toshiba (and Librettos) I have gotten much valuable info
from this list. Unfortunately there really aren't any other lists of this
caliber for the other Toshiba products, even though several have been
attempted.

As for Cserve, the one thing they do still posses is probably the best forum
oriented software around. No one has been able to duplicate on the web the
sophisticated threading that Cserve has.

The Toshiba forum was there before the web became so popular. CServe
was then, the best place for tech. support and advice, but has been
replaced by open web/email forums today.

In any case, a couple years ago, they had a decent number of L users
and talk, but today, I looked and there's nary a good Libretto topic to
 be had.

Guess we've all moved to this list ;)

Larry,

After a little poking around I found a file in the \Windows\cookies
directory called xxx@login[1].txt. The xxx will be unique to your computer
and the [1] could be [2], etc. If you open the file in Notepad, the third
line in the file is "login.compuserve.com/login". This appears to be the
webview login file. Renaming mine caused it to ask me for a screen name
rather then logging me in directly.
