64MB RAM
2.1GB HD
EPP
Floppy

Great condition except that the latches are gone.
Sadly I just don't find that I use the libretto these days...
It just isn't for me anymore.

The reserve is a very reasonable $500.

since my screen is ruined, and getting a new screen = getting a new
computer, I may upgrade from my 50 to a higher model. Are they all the same
size? I seem to recall that even the 70 is slightly larger than the 50

Looking at it in bright light, can you see if -anything- is on the screen?
Your backlight tube may have died... If so, then if you have sharp eyes,
you ought to be able to pick something out on the screen (enlist a kid if
necessary. ;-)
f that's the case then... Well... You have merely the task of finding out
what the tube is and replacing it.

Subject: Libretto 110 Screen Failure

Hi Everyone,

I've had my 110CT for about a year now (an ex-demo model) and the other
night the screen died on me :-( The power LED was blinking orange so my
initial thought was that it had gone into suspend mode but when I pressed
the power button the screen remained blank. I shut down Windows 98 (not easy
when you're doing it blind). When I rebooted the computer beeped and loaded
Windows as normal but the screen remained blank thoughout the process.

The next morning I switched the machine on and the screen worked for a few
minutes before the same thing happened. Luckily the hard drive is shared so
I can access the system on my network but as things stand I can't use it on
the move :-(

Can anyone suggest a solution I can attempt or failing that somewhere in
the UK that might be able to fix it (and an idea of what that might cost).

Thanks in advance.

Pete

uhh...
err...
An L100, ticking over at 266MHz, with 64MB, and a 10GB hd is barely able to
handle w2k pro.
Why on earth would you run w2k adv svr?
(You can get adv svr down to almost pro size through diabling services. But
that kinda defeats the point)

I don't know if they will work under Win98/WinMe. You'd have to get the
toshiba driver and give it a shot.

I use my libretto floppy with my Inspiron 8000 all the time under w2k. (I
have a 30GB hard drive in the floppy bay). It's a plug and play install
then.

Hello,

I'm trying to work out if the Toshiba supplied PC card floppy disk drive
would
work in another laptop...?

I've just bought a SONY vaio which is (surprisingly) not supplied with a
floppy drive. I wondered if the tiny tosh floppy would work (I was assuming
that the PC autodetects the PC card as it would any other PC card device) so
I
inserted into my vaio and lo and behold it detected a Y-D floppy
adapter.
Does anyone know if there's a third party driver to make this work?

Running windows ME in the vaio.

Regards,

Peter.

Decent ACPI power management support, I believe. The 7.xx BIOSes were
functional under Win98, and 8.00 added true ACPI support so w2k would work.

Heh, yes I'm lagging trememdously in replying... =)
So I got my Lib 100 used, and it's running BIOS 6.4 and Windows ME. I'm not
encountering any problems, so being of the philosophy "if it ain't broke,
don't fix it," I let this email slide for a bit.
What exactly does upgrading the BIOS do which is supposedly necessary for
running the newer versions of Windows?

I would call an L100 about the bare minimum spec. With 32MB of RAM, you
would have to be -really- patient. W2k requires about 50MB of RAM just for
itself.
Load up NT4. It's small, fast and very nice.

Double click on Power Option Icon and bring up the Power Options dialog. Now
Select one power scheme and go to Toshiba Power Extension page on the same
dialog. Set the LCD brightness and CPU speed. You can also find the temp
gauge there. Hit Apply button then go to first page select another power
scheme and repeat.

If you didn't see the Toshiba Power Extension page on Power Options dialog,
then you didn't install the right thing.

When I left click, all I see are four preset power schemes.
And there is no way to customize them beyond timeouts.
(Where did you find the machine temperature gauge?)

The REASON you don't get that is because Win2000 already has its own. Left
Click on Power Option icon on taskbar will give you the same functionality
as the lightbulb icon on Win98. Try it and tell me what is missing:)

The other cool thing about this Win2000 Toshiba Power extension is that it
also has a temperature gauge that displays machine temperature.

Did you install Toshiba power extension for Win2000? As for the icon, go to
Control Panel\Power options\Advanced check always show icon on taskbar. If
you installed the above extension, you will see another tab in this dialog
that let you control the LCD brightness and processor speed on different
power schemes you selected. The icon(a standard Win2000 feature) lets you
select different power schemes just like the Toshiba utility did in
Win98/95.

The 95/98/nt4 drivers do. (I've run all of these on a libby at one point or

I don't know what you mean but the Toshiba driver let the LCD brightness
control to be controlled the same as Win95/98. You can select different
power states from taskbar icon and you can control how LCD, processor

Hi Nick!

No problem, brightness control is included in Toshiba power management
extensions for Win2k. And it works fine on the Lib! There is only a small
limitation: the driver supports 8 steps of brightness, the Lib only 4.

Since then, I've been using monstrous Dells... First an Inspiron 7500 (A

But...
Librettos have finally gotten cheap enough that I'm willing to buy one

Damn.
Nice machines.
My replacement Libretto 100 arrived today.
I had it overclocked to 266MHz within ten minutes of getting it out of the
box.
I have -really- missed having a truly portable machine.

By the way... There's a guy on yahoo auctions who is selling l100 EPRs for
$49.99. I bought one, and it arrived today. I paid for it late on monday.
