Should it be possible to copy files between PC-card slots (one will
contain a 128Mb CF1 card in a PC-card slot adapter, the other will
contain an Iomega "Clik" (aka "Pocket Zip"?) drive... from a DOS
prompt (ie without Windows)?

Of course. Each device will be assigned a separate drive letter by
DOS, so there is no restriction.

So how do I get DOS to see these devices? I presume I need some software
(drivers?) that allow DOS to see the PC-card slots; either something
specific to PC-card slots, or specific to the devices in the slots (ie the
CF1 card and the Clik drive), or both?

TIA

I take it that Fubar, wants to use the "Click" with out loading Windows
either with dos enablers (no card services or with card services) but
not with windows drivers.

Something like that!

Think of it as a Libretto with no hard drive - I can boot it from a floppy,
and need to move the images I've taken with my digital camera to some other
media (the Clik is ideal because it's cheap, available where I am, and will
still be useful after I've resolved my hard drive / hard drive controller
problem)

What's the difference between no card services / with card services?

Or with a small linux system. The drivers do exist.

If you look at Iomega site you can find drivers for windows,
but those will not work for dos, and you can find dos drivers for the Jaz
and Zip, but I do not see any drivers for the 250 zip usb or for the click.

I see...

I just tried http://www.iomega.com/software/drivers.html
and selected "Clik! PC Card Drive" and "Windows 3.1/DOS" and get the message
"Sorry, no software is available for this selection" :-(

I've also tried a couple of search engines, just on the off-chance, but
drawn a blank...

So yes if you can get it recognized it would be no problem copying between
them. I think the real question that you need answer is will dos recognize
the click. Perhaps even without Iomega drivers you can get Card and Sockets
service to work with it, as a simple hard drive. Perhaps it would be best
to
check with your DOS card and Sockets service provider and see if they have
a
driver for it.

Who might my DOS card and Sockets provider be? What are the alternatives?

TIA, and TVVVM for your help!

I think your out of luck.
With out a working hard drive, and limited to 3.5" floppies you just aren't
going to have room enough to load all the programs you would need. It use to
be that the Aussie Toshiba site had card and sockets that you could down
load. But the install program would not fit on one 3.5" floppy. What you are
looking for is old software for say a Toshiba T4XXX computer. an dos 5 or
dos 6.

Trying to do what you want to do is not going to be easy at all. Trying to
do it by just downloading
from the net, I think will be almost impossible. IMHO there just to much you
need to load in your config.sys to put on just one disk! Sorry. If I were
you I byte the bullet and try another hard drive. Chances are you got a
blown Hard Drive and not a bad controller. IMHO unless you pulled your Hard
drive while you Libretto was power up, or you went poking around the pins
with your screwdriver, chances are its your hard drive.

As long as the appropriate socket and device drivers are loaded, yes.
