\usr\etc can't be deleted because the file "fontconfig.reloc" is in use.
I get an eror message that a program is using it and that the file could
therefore not be deleted.

The same is for the folder \usr\lb where "aifc.py" is in use.
Of course there are more files in use.
In \usr\var it is the folder "fontconfig" that could for an unknown
reason not be deleted.

can you have a look at 2.9.22-2 ? This release has a new uninstaller
routine, which should just delete everything that's shipped (assuming
that fontconfig.reloc was properly closed previously)

With Lilypond 2.9.18 also the folder

\usr\var remains.f

I've switched on logging for the Mingw installer. Can you (un)install
2.9.18 with /s when it comes out? This will generate an installation
log, which will hopefully provide some clues.

I did this. The logfile is attached. The problem is that the folder

This is really strange. The only program using that should be
lilypond.exe itself. Please investigate.

Btw. I noticed that you are using Python 2.4. Perhaps an update to
python 2.5 could be an advantage. Then you need at least less files to
ship with the installer so it becomes a bit smaller.

usually newer releases get bigger, I'd expect the contrary.

That is bad. I'm impressed about Lilypond's quality in design,
especially its fantastic documentation so that I'm surprized that you
don't test it on Windows. I'm surely not the only Lilypond Windows user.

You're not the only windows user, but we don't have any windows
developers. If you're willing to volunteer (or know anybody who want to
volunteer) for that job, that would be fantastic.

Btw. It would be nice if Lilypond has a bugtracker. That would make it
easier to report bugs and assures that they won't be forgotten. Lilypond
is registered at savannah.gnu.org and the easiest way would be to use
the provided bugtracker of the savannah project page. (There is
currently only one unanswered bug report, and I'm sure that Lilypond has
more small bugs ;-) )

We're beginning to use the code.google.com bugtracker; more info will be
coming soon.

What exactly is in these folders?

\usr\lib contains python 2.4 files
\usr\etc\relocate contains four ".reloc" files

Note that we create the installer on Linux, and almost never test the
windows installer.

Lilypond also left some other registry entries in python registry
settings, please also have a look of what can be removed there.
To assure that you took care of all entries search the whole registry
after you uninstalled Lilypond.

various Lilypond 2.9 Win-uninstaller problems

2006-09-02 Thread Uwe Stöhr

Hello Lilyponders,

I tested the latest Lilypond 2.9.16 for Windows and found out that it is
not correctly uninstalled. After uninstalling it the following folders
remain:

\usr\etc
\usr\lib

and its subfolders. The installation directory should completely be removed.

The following registry entries remains:

- HKCU\Applications\lilypond-windows.exe
  HKLM\Applications\lilypond-windows.exe
  and its subfolders

- The Start menu entry for Lilypond under HKCU

- the file extension ".ly" is kept registered in HKCU

Please remove these entries when uninstalling Lilypond, especially the
kept file extension may later cause problems.

Lilypond also left some other registry entries in python registry
settings, please also have a look of what can be removed there.
To assure that you took care of all entries search the whole registry
after you uninstalled Lilypond.

thanks and regards
