Yes, I totally agree that this is not the place to look for. But I suppose that's a limitation of Finale's plugin architecture... > And I don't seem to run into any XML on > the Werner Icking or CPDL sites. CPDL and WIMA are mainly interested in the PDFs. The source files are just a goodie, and of course people upload the native file they crated rather than some exported file (which involves one additional step). There are some MusicXML source files on WIMA, though (simply search for MusicXML an you'll get 45 hits, most of which are for editions with MusicXML sources). But I think this has to be done by a knowledgeable git person... and even once we convince them that there *is* a problem, and it's *not* caused by our setup (assuming this is true), then it'll still take two years for the fixed version of git clone to be available in people's repositories. No, we do not want to ask contributors to download git from an unstable branch. That's far worse than a 5-line cut&paste job. Now, according to Patrick, "git clone" works for the main branch. Unfortunately I can't see myself testing this in the near future (my apartment has a pathetic internet connection, and the university doesn't allow git connections). However, we need brainless cut&paste instructions for the translations and web as well. Another question is whether it makes sense to keep web/ as a branch in the main lilypond git. Well, this is utterly ridiculous IMNSHO. I would suggest to * fix the main lilypond repo so that git clone "just works", or * ask on g...@vger.kernel.org what else we're doing wrong, or * fix git so that git clone "just works" If all of these fail, and git clone is *supposed* to be utterly unusable, I suggest to look seriously into switching to bazaar or hg. Re: new Problem with Time-Sig
Hi Stefan, Yes, I don't now how to reduce the distance and first staff in this example. It is an excerpt of a larger score, and the first staff isn't always the same, it's a so called french score. If you're French scoring, you need to make a music function that turns the topmost (visible) Staff into the "Time Signature carrier" -- I do this manually, but a clever Scheme hacker could probably write a function to automate it. Good luck! Kieren. p.s. Unrelated hint: You don't need separate \context { \Score ... } blocks for every override -- simply put them in the same one! ___ lilypond-user mailing list lilypond-user@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user
Re: variable in paper block
Hi Stefan, I would like to make a substition in the paper block, for the part title. Why not put \header { parttitle = "My Part Title" } in your "source" (notes) file/section, and then in the "score" file/ section, use oddHeaderMarkup = \markup { \fromproperty #'header:parttitle } Hope this helps! Maybe they also use it in Poland, etc., not sure though. In Dutch it's definitely not used, although they name their notes the same as Germans in any other way. Well, and the souther countries use the solmization system to name their notes. > Being English it feels weird to me, but presumably it's second nature to > the continentals :-) Well, although I've grown up using H instead of B I don't like to use it anymore because it doesn't make sense at all. ;) I prefer much the Dutch way, since it's so similar but hasn't got this minor error.

'h' is already a taken name in deutsch.ly, so everyone who uses German note names couldn't use your function. I also learned this just recently. Re: lilypond-book setup for windows
I was afraid of that - back to square one - In the early 90s I had a quarrel with my former boss who wanted to force me to TeX and later LaTex and I, working on a Mac, was a vivid Wysiwyg advocator. I won. Now - I have yet not decided which output would be appropriate (pdf or html) so I will give it a try with Latex and WinEdt. Is there a "stylesheet" for the Lilypond Documentationproject which I can use as a starting point without the need to invent my own proper layout? @Carl: I am still switching between Mac and Windows (jEdit).
