Re: no view because of mistakes?
Thanks Janek, On the Denemo list it was explained how I should do it in Denemo. Re: no view because of mistakes?
Thanks Xavier, in a 2nd post I explained I made a mistake thinking (doh) I was sending my question to the Denemo list. So I have a .denemo file only, no .ly I'm pretty new to this, so I know I can see the Lilypond compilation view, but don't know yet how to extract it as a .ly file. Trying to change things in the Lilypond view doesn't (seem to) work. wrote: > On 31 December 2010 01:07, Ludo Beckers wrote: > > > > You mean when trying to view in PDF? > > This is the result: > > > > Unable to open document. > > File type plain text document (text/plain) is not supported > > Which OS do you use? Re: no view because of mistakes? CORRECTION
oops... I just realized I'm on the Lilypond list here, and not the Denemo list! My mistake (a blushing apology) Maybe someone here can help out just the same; otherwise I'll repost on the appropiate list. You mean when trying to view in PDF? This is the result: Unable to open document. no view because of mistakes?
When I make mistakes, how do I know where they are? I'm working on a tune that won't show the PDF-result and I haven't got a clue where the wrong input is (possibly the tuplets, because it's not so clear how to input them correctly). Hi Wilbert The 2nd address in your signature is the forum where I reacted on 2 of your posts, but didn't see a reaction. I'm "catch22" in that one. I might be interested in also checking out Frescobaldi, but wonder if it makes much sense on a non-KDE-system (too many KDE-dependencies)? That makes sense to me. In my case it's only 10% of arranging and composing. I read somewhere btw that there's an OpenOffice-tool as well; I'll have to check that one out for sure. Re: ways of using Lilypond?
Frescobaldi was the first one I looked at, but asking questions on their Dutch forum (the developer is Dutch, so it seemed the most logical place) was in vain; no replies at all. After that I looked at Denemo, and their forum is very much alive. To get aquanited with Lilypond syntax I'll start using Gvim as a stepping stone to vim, I think. PS Arlon and Antwerp must look the same today; everything covered in snow ;-) On Sun, Dec 19, 2010 at 11:34 AM, Xavier Scheuer wrote: > On 19 December 2010 10:32, Luca Rossetto Casel > wrote: > > > > I usually work with Frescobaldi; sometimes, Lilypond Tool. > > Frescobaldi is a great tool! > Its "score wizard" (Ctrl+Maj+N) is very useful for beginners, IMHO. > > Under Windows I use jEdit+LilyPondTool, really nice too. > Sometimes I simply use gedit (GNU/Linux) or notepad (windows), when > I do small modifications. > > Cheers, > Xavier > > PS : Arlon/Louvain-la-Neuve here! > > -- > Xavier Scheuer > ___ lilypond-user mailing list lilypond-user@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user
Re: ways of using Lilypond?
I guess I asked this question because I'm not sure whether or not I should first learn Lilypond syntax and then see if I want/need to use tools besides it. I asked about the combination vim-Lilypond sometime ago, but that would be 2 steep learning curves to tackle at once; a bit too much. btw Jethro, I see we're fellow countrymen :-) (Antwerpen here) Ludo On Sun, Dec 19, 2010 at 12:09 AM, Jethro Van Thuyne wrote: > Ludo Beckers: > > > Just wondering, has there ever been a poll about how many Lilypond users > > work with a certain specific tool. > > Is the majority in this group using denemo, frescobaldi, lilypondtool or > > other tools? > > Vim, with custom mappings (or without), has been the most practical > tool for me so far. > > Jethro. > ___ lilypond-user mailing list lilypond-user@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user
ways of using Lilypond?
Just wondering, has there ever been a poll about how many Lilypond users work with a certain specific tool. Is the majority in this group using denemo, frescobaldi, lilypondtool or other tools? ___ lilypond-user mailing list lilypond-user@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user

No, there's only 1 "from" A moderator contacted me off line though - we'll probably sort it out What I think happened is that the old nabble list sent me a mail with confusing instructions about setting mail on "no delivery", which I did - turns out that was for Lilypond list and not nabble in general I changed that just now Thanks for your reply Francisco Now let's see if this message appears :-) Ludo On Sat, Dec 11, 2010 at 12:13 AM, Francisco Vila wrote: > 2010/12/10 Ludo Beckers : > > > I never got a reply though. I managed to post in the list as a new subscribed user, but couldn't reply. I received this: Your request to the lilypond-user mailing list Posting of your message titled "vim&Lilypond learning curve_jazzchord font_bars per line? 3 questions" has been rejected by the list moderator. The moderator gave the following reason for rejecting your request: "Non-members are not allowed to post messages to this list.
