[LincolnTalk] Volunteers Needed - Housing Commission

2021-08-05 Thread Elder, Peggy
Volunteers Needed - Housing Commission

The Select Board is seeking interested volunteers for a new vacancy on the
Housing Commission. As this is for one of the elected seats, this appointment
will only be until the March 2022 election.

"The Housing Commission, which was established under the authority of Chapter
359 of the Acts of 1979, as presently constituted consists of three persons
elected for a three year term and two appointed persons appointed for a term of
five years each.

The Commission is responsible for studying the Town's housing needs,
particularly those of persons with low and moderate income, and for planning
ways in which these may be met. It serves in place of a housing authority from
which it differs in several ways. Most important is the fact that the
Commission, unlike an authority, is not a separate entity in itself, has no
power of eminent domain, and is subject to financial control by Town Meeting.

The Commission is responsible for the operation and maintenance of certain
Town-owned houses."

Letters of interest should be addressed to Select Board Chair Jonathan Dwyer
and sent to Peggy Elder, Administrative Assistant in the Select Board's Office,
at eld...@lincolntown.org . For information or
an application, please visit the Town website:

Re: [LincolnTalk] What bird is this?

2021-08-05 Thread nimmercorey
It’s a belted kingfisher and is definitely in some kind of distress, my
guess would be a window strike if it was sitting out on a deck. If it
hasn’t flown away already I would advise contacting a licensed rehabber
ASAP, and this link provides good info on how to prevent birds from flying
into your windows:

Re: [LincolnTalk] What bird is this?

2021-08-05 Thread Paula Robinson via Lincoln
Hi All - I agree with Rich and Bryce on the King. Additionally, Leslie, that
was my first thought when I saw the bird. I just heard a news report that in a
new study, bird experts believe the illness is not being spread bird to bird
and may be coming from birds that have ingested cicadas. There have been no
reported cases of this illness in New England where we obviously don’t have any
cicadas (this year).

Hoping this mystery is solved soon as I’m missing my songbirds…

Best,
