[LincolnTalk] Fell tree, split and stack recommendations

2022-04-08 Thread Gordon Woodington
Looking for recommendations, please:

Someone to cut down a tree (not big), to cut it up and split and stack the
wood. Not a big crew.

The new “unilane” seems to be working well. There is one shared car lane
and two shoulders for non vehicle pads and bikes. I haven’t noticed any
conflicts and It’s a nice compromise to chopping down all the trees to put

[LincolnTalk] Caution on school drive

2022-04-08 Thread Susan Taylor
Please be aware of rough road conditions when driving on the school campus.

This week Consigli Construction began work on Ballfield Road between the
Lincoln School and the K-4 modular building. The asphalt was stripped down to
gravel and more extensive excavation will take place in the next week with
paving over the April vacation week.

Please drive carefully in this area and reduce your speeds on the gravel
roadways.

[LincolnTalk] looking for an RV for the summer

2022-04-08 Thread William Hobbs
We are looking for an RV to use for the summer. We are renovating our
house, and would like to use an RV as a temporary home office/getaway
parked in our side yard during the noise and mess of the reno. We wouldn’t
be driving it, and would only use an electrical hookup (ie not
water/sewer). If you have an RV, or know of someone who does, who might
have it available to rent or borrow, please let me know.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Community clean up!

2022-04-08 Thread Sara Lupkas

Dear LincolnTalk,

We have seen the discussions regarding litter, and LLCT and town Conservation
staff have been working on a few volunteer opportunities to help care for our
beautiful areas around town. Our first is the upcoming Green Up Day on Earth
Day, April 22, but we have additional opportunities listed below. If you are
interested in volunteering, you can reply to me at this email, or submit our
volunteer application form.
Lincoln Green Up Day: April 22nd!

LLCT and Town Conservation are teaming up to invite the community to
participate in a town-wide Green Up Day.

Week of April 18-22: Individuals and Groups are encouraged to self-organize
clean ups. Trash bags will be available for pick up in advance. Drop-off
locations will also be provided.
Friday April 22nd: Conservation Staff will lead two group clean ups from
10am-Noon. At 1pm we'll gather at Lincoln Station for a celebration with local
groups, including Farrington Nature Linc. Enjoy family-friendly activities,
treats, and information about Earth Day, climate change, and more!
Each participating group/household will receive a free Earth Day Serviceberry
Seedling at the celebration (while supplies last). Our hope is to have
community members sharing their cleanup efforts and Earth Day messages on the
OuterSpatial App that week and joining at the celebration! If you are
interested in participating, please use the form below to sign up so that we
can provide support to groups, make sure we have enough supplies, and can send
more details as the event approaches. For more info and to register:
www.tinyurl.com/LincolnGreenUpDay2022

Adopt-A-Trail Program
Staff are seeking volunteers who already enjoy walking on the trails regularly.
Volunteers may choose one or two conservation areas to “adopt”.
Responsibilities include keeping trails clear of twigs and branches, picking up
trash, light vegetation management, and reporting on downed trees, erosion,
missing signage and other trail issues. Adopt-A-Trail volunteers are expected
to check and report on their chosen trail systems at least monthly.

Volunteer Rangers (Ambassadors)
Volunteer rangers walk the trails and provide friendly education to trail users
about overall trail rules. This position requires being outgoing and willing to
engage with trail users. Overall it is meant to provide a welcoming presence on
the trails – we are looking for rangers who will conduct themselves as friendly
ambassadors to the Lincoln trail system! We are currently prioritizing rangers
at Mt. Misery and Flints Pond. Volunteer rangers are expected to be out on the
trails at least weekly.

[LincolnTalk] This Week - and Holy Week - at First Parish in Lincoln

2022-04-08 Thread Margit Griffith
Worship

  * This Sunday, April 10th at 10 a.m. student minister, Sarah Klockowski,
will lead worship and officiate communion. Links to register to join worship
in-person in the Sanctuary or to join us via Zoom can be found on the
website.

Religious Exploration

  * Children will gather at 9:30 a.m. outside the Sanctuary (4 Bedford Road)
to help hand palms to member and guests. Our Sunday School of Magic and
Mystery will consider how Jesus was hosanna'ed into Jerusalem and Harry was, at
first, a celebrity at Hogwarts. People's feelings changed when Jesus and Harry
started pointing out some uncomfortable truths. We'll plant sunflowers - who
always turn their faces to the light (of truth).

Beyond Sunday (details and links available on the FPLincoln
website)

  * Frist Parish in Lincoln offers many ways to be connected beyond Sunday.
Please see the website calendar for details about Coffee with the Minister,
classes like Sacred Texts: From Jesus to Christ, Quiet Walks in and around
Lincoln, Weekly Meditation - and more.

For Holy Week

  * Sunday, April 10th - Palm Sunday details above
  * Friday, April 15th, 7 p.m. – Good Friday (in person and online) Join us
for a Good Friday service remembering the final hours of Jesus’s life,
featuring special music from our FPL Choir and Sarah Yanovitch, a frequent
soloist with Boston’s Handel and Hayden Society. Through readings and
reflection on the passion narrative we will bear witness to the suffering of
our world today and consider how we might live into resurrection when Easter
still seems a long way off.
  *   Sunday, April 17th, 6 a.m. – Sunrise Service (Flint’s Field)  As has been
done for many years, we’ll gather on Flint Field (off Old Lexington Road) for
the Easter Sunrise service. Sarah will lead this short service, which includes
prayer, readings, a reflection, and music. Join us as we greet this Easter
morning with gladness with this beloved FPL tradition. Humanity and dogmanity
welcome!
  * Sunday, April 17th, 10 a.m. Easter (in person and online) Lilies,
trumpets, singing those familiar Easter hymns together! There are new things
coming to life within this community, and new hope being born. Be part of the
celebration! Online registration required.
