[LincolnTalk] JAZZ JAM SESSION TODAY, Thursday 9/21

2023-09-20 Thread Nicholas Ribush
Dear All,

Bemis Hall, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Free.

Come hear some of the Boston area's best jazz musicians as they join
Banjo Hall of Famer Jimmy Mazzy in playing great traditional jazz tunes
from the 20s and 30s.

We did one of these back in June. Here's a taste of it!
 (before the iPad
ran out of space...). This one will be just as good!

See you there.

Hello again,

I was mistaken about today’s “loose” dog’s identity. She is “Augie,” canine
companion to another family in the Mocassin Hill area. I do not have their
contact info and I believe they are aware that the dog was in the road.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Exterior mold on house

2023-09-20 Thread Fil Zembowicz
You might also want to consider having copper stripping installed on your
roof for prevention. Water picks up copper ions as it runs over it which
will prevent moss, algae, and other microorganisms from growing in the
first place, reducing the need for cleaning or chemical treatments.

Not sure if there’s an equivalent for walls or siding though.

If it’s a north facing or shaded area you could consider trimming back
trees so the sun can inhibit growth as well.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Exterior mold on house

2023-09-20 Thread John Robinson
I’m glad I could help! In terms of area, it’s just a question of how big
your roof is. My roof is ~1,000 sq. ft. I bought two containers, and I
think I only used one, or maybe 1 1/4. You can get it at most hardware
stores, so you could always start with one, and go back for another if you
need it.

I don’t know firsthand about plants or pets, but I did a little digging,
and these are the instructions the company gives:

PETS AND CHILDREN: Keep pets off treated surfaces until product has dried.
If contamination occurs, rinse paws. Keep children off PLAY EQUIPMENT (i.e.
Slides, Plastic Gyms), treated with Wet & Forget® Outdoor, until washed
down with fresh water, a day after application.

PLANTS: Flush plants with fresh water if accidentally sprayed. Windy
conditions reduce reach and can increase spray drift onto plants.

Best of luck! And please let me know if you have any more questions.

One low-cost alternative is Wet-and-Forget:

hose attachment that increases pressure so it’ll reach the top of your roof

Jennifer,
If I am to understand the chart win the original email, 1/2 of the funding was
for a project on privately owned land-the Mall/Lincoln Woods septic system.
Am I correct?

Is there precedent for the town making such a request of the Commonwealth-a
request for a private landowner?

Also, what are the specifics for an $800,000 request for “Complete Streets?”

Thank you,

Re: [LincolnTalk] Loose Dog on Weston Rd

2023-09-20 Thread kathryn Corbin
I see this dog frequently on Laurel/ Mocassin Hill. Have wondered why it’s out
roaming alone so often. Haven’t been able to get close to identify either.

[LincolnTalk] Loose Dog on Weston Rd

2023-09-20 Thread Jeffrey C. Mizrahi via Lincoln
Dog was wandering in the middle of the road at intersection of Weston Rd
& Moccassin Hill Rd, about a 1/2 mile from 117. Several of us stopped
and tried to entice her with a cracker but she quickly ran up Moccassin
Hill Rd.  She was light brown and we think a German short-haired
pointer, around 60 - 70 lbs.  Didn't see a collar and couldn't get close
to take a pic.

Hoping owner might see this on LT and recognize its description.

Best,
Jeff

Re: [LincolnTalk] Exterior mold on house

2023-09-20 Thread John Robinson
Power washing can be great (and really satisfying) on non-painted surfaces.
One low-cost alternative is Wet-and-Forget:
https://www.wetandforget.com/wet-and-forget-hose-end.html. It comes as a
hose attachment that increases pressure so it’ll reach the top of your roof
or wherever you need. You just spray the affected area, and after a few
days, the mold (or any moss or lichen on your roof) will just disappear. It
did a great job on my place!
